Some new stuff I got last year and took pics of last year... but never posted here, I think? :'D (If I did, then eh, here's a second post about this stuff) I have a lot of photos like these around, whoops. Anyway, after I read ILTv5, I was in the mood to read/reread some Yu Wo stuff and remembered that I never did get around to reading this one. Was going to take pics of the cover but went digging through my files instead and found these that I already took. XD;;

Bought these last year. Pictured above:
*Royal Beast (王獸), a self published BL novel by Yu Wo from last August
*A Gong Hua illustrated storybook
*Sunken Moon doujinshi featuring Naerxi/Yui Tui

I've been accumulating several Sunken Moon doujinshi that I haven't read lately, now that Shui Quan has moved on from Jin Shi. I want more Jin Shi. :3;; But I never know if I'll end up liking another character a lot, so I've still been buying some Sunken Moon doujinshi here and there. Didn't buy the latest one though. Bit behind on S2, so I don't know those characters much at all...

spoilerish summary of Royal Beast )
Um wow, so the latter half of August completely swallowed me. It's been nonstop busyness, pretty much (including my job starting back up, spending an entire week before that cleaning my workplace and not making as much headway as I would've liked, being a model (like what XDD), and attending Crunchryoll Expo (at least that was for my own enjoyment but it also meant waking up way too early and not giving my body time to recuperate from work), until today when I finally got a chance to sleep in, but of course that's when a sore throat decided to creep up on me. But anyway, now that I finally have time to breathe, I'm here with some Sunken Moon ramblings. o/ Well, a summary, actually, per request. I actually have a bit of a difficult time keeping track of what Sunken Moon doujinshi I have on my shelf. Maybe this will help. (Also, I still need to finish reading KSM S2 Volume 7 at some point. I read the beginning before August slayed me.)

Enjoy!

This first summary is of a Hui Shi/Fan Tong story called 倒回從前, written by Shui Quan in 2015. The story plus author's notes is 157 pages long. Shui Quan writes very long doujinshi of her own series. I love it. XD I've summarized the Prologue and Chapter 1 here to give an idea of what the doujinshi is about.

For the first two weeks of August, I went off to Taiwan~. Been back from the trip for around a week (busy busy trying to settle in with work and catch up with stuff). It's been 17 years since I've traveled there. Boy, do I remember very little of Taiwan. Some things haven't changed though, while some stuff has changed a lot. But what's different about this trip is that I had places and events I wanted to cram in, with a shorter stay than any of my previous trips to Taiwan, so it was a trip with a super full itinerary. Went out bright and early every day and didn't get home until around 11 pm every night. Walked my feet off. XD There was no rest at all. I became very familiar with the public transit. I also got to see my relatives who I haven't seen in just as long as I haven't been back to Taiwan. 17 years!! (I was so tiny back then.)

Yes, that's the actual title of the doujinshi. XD I received Shui Quan's Sunken Moon doujinshi this week~~~. My first of her doujinshi of her own series! She must have a lot of fun writing doujinshi of her own series. It just seems like a lot of fun to be able to do that.

The doujinshi was 159 pages, featuring the Yiye x Naerxi pairing. Also included in the bundle was a bag, a colored 4-koma comic about Xiu Yelan inviting everyone to the hotsprings, and a 2016 calendar featuring everyone having just taken a shower.

I tried to pre-order Sunken Moon s2 v3 so I could get the limited poster, but the poster ran out within 3 minutes of orders opening. DDDD: (I wanted the second poster, which has art that isn't included in the book). Kingstone ran out of posters within 3 minutes... The books.com.tw poster was available for a day or so before running out (I didn't really want that one though). The last poster is the convenience store one. I'm going to try for that one. -____-;;
So, Shui Quan had two bundles for sale on books.com.tw and Kingstone. One is the normal side story bundle. The other one was the side story bundle with an autograph board. There were 1000 copies in all of the autograph bundle, hand signed by her. Pre-orders opened on Jan 25. I set my timer so I could wake up and make my purchase, but the autograph bundle sold out within a few minutes. DDDDD: I underestimated how fast they would sell... I couldn't believe it! Even though some copies showed up again later on, I wasn't able to add them to my shopping cart. I gave up, bought the normal bundle, and went back to sleep. :'D

Anyway, here's the bundle I bought. :') Received it on Friday~. I thought the release date was Jan 29... I actually received it on January 29th, so they must've been sending out orders before the release date.

Bought myself Human Doll Contract v1 (manhua version) and Dominion's End V4. I got HDC earlier in the month. DEv4 arrived on Thursday. Will put pics up. I thought they would get shipped together after DE got released, but they shipped HDC to me separately.

Cai Hong Zhong, the artist of HDC, sounds so tired and burned out! He also recently fell sick, so there was no new chapter published in December's magazine. I wish him good health. He has an autograph session during February's convention on Feb 14. Pics of the autograph board. I'm amused that the illustration for the body pillow of Ziya was used for the autograph board as well. :'D

I finished reading Dominion's End V4 in three hours. Oops.

Dominion's End V4 was much more relaxing and lighthearted compared to V3. V3 was all the feels. V3 felt like a conclusion. V4 is pretty much the start of another chapter in their lives, building from the ground up. A very transitional volume too. Yu Wo even says that she wants to attempt to write a long story. She's aiming for 15+ volumes. :OOOO As a result, there can be volumes like V3 and V4 where we spend entire volumes away from characters I thought were main characters. Instead, Shuyu spends the majority of the volumes by himself, with side characters, and new characters. The cast is going to be huge. Like, we met a new character in V2 that I thought would be fairly prominent, and they haven't shown up again yet in 2 volumes. We met a new character in V3 that seems fairly important too, but they didn't have a single scene in V4, except for the side story at the end. We're in for a long, long ride.

Recently, I also finished reading Key of the Sunken Moon season 2 volumes 1-2. The new character, Jin Shi, is pretty cute. There's a huge sidestory printed at the end of v2 that's dedicated to his backstory. It paints him in a very different light. At first, I was disappointed that it was a side story and not a continuation of V2. It was seriously a huge chunk of the novel! But as I read the side story, I grew more and more interested in Jin Shi and also the world he came from.

Apparently, Shui Quan's other novel, 異願洛恩斯, is related to Key of the Sunken Moon. It details a world that is connected to Fan Tong's world but separated and can't be reached. One of the characters is even the younger brother of Puhahaha. I went and read everything of what Shui Quan has posted in her blog. She usually posts the beginning of each volume. So, I read the beginning chapters of all 9 volumes. :'D

...I have the general story, but I'm sure missing all the climaxes. In the end, I bought the series. Hoping to be able to read it next week. Same artist as Sunken Moon's artist. Such pretty art~.

New books

Didn't participate in [livejournal.com profile] yuletide again this year. I'm still on the pinch hit list though, and the pinch hits are flooding in. XD; I've saved a few letters that interested me, but I'm still busy catching up on stuff. So, likely no writing on that front.

Got some new books last month. Finally some time to post pics~

Legend of Sun Knight new edition V6, GOD new edition V3 (the artist changed, so it came with covers for V1 and V2 as well), and Key of the Sunken Moon season 2 V1-V2. Finished rereading GOD V3. Saimi's character is changed a bit so that he's more responsible as a king, and there's a bit more on 剋星(bane).

By the way, Shui Quan's new doujin novel to be sold in February's CWT. A bodyswap story between Ie and Naerxi. I still can't get over the fact that Shui Quan writes doujinshi of her own stuff, and the official artist (who is a guy) is even drawing the art for it. And the stuff he's being asked to draw, lol. Those last two drawings on that page...
Key of the Sunken Moon pics! I bought all of the first series and the side stories. I'll probably start buying the 2nd series sometime. There are 2 volumes of that out so far. I finished reading the whole series plus the side stories~~

KSM is 11 volumes in all, plus 3 volumes and an extra volume of side stories. V1 is on the upper left. The art of KSM is very pretty and dynamic! The colors are a bit washed out because I batch adjusted these pics I took under terrible lighting (ahaha) but the actual color is actually quite vibrant. After I read the series, I finally knew all the characters in the KSM artbook I bought. And the comic finally made sense to me too. XD

Neo

Yu Wo seems to be considering possibly releasing a Neo-centric book containing short stories like When Teacher Wasn't Yet Teacher and We are Not the Dark Human Squad, plus some others focusing on his adventures and stuff that happened in the past. It would mean she'd finish writing We are Not the Dark Human Squad. But since she already has plans for August (I'm assuming she's talking about CWT), it would mean she'd have to do it for the February CWT. So, it sounds like this might be a self-published thing like Unbeatable.

I hope it happens! I want to read more about Teacher Neo~. I want more LSK side stories~. GJ, Yu Wo's Neo-loving friend who planted this idea in her head. (Now, go convince her some more!)

For those interested, a fanfic and fanart contest was recently held over at Yu Wo's forums. The submission period just ended. I haven't been checking the forums much lately... I didn't even know there was a fanfic and fanart contest! And now they've both already ended. :'D;;
Fanart contest. Theme was "Dreamscape."
Fanfic contest. Theme was "A reversed world."

Submissions were predominantly LSK, but there are some from other Yu Wo series too.

This past week, I've been reading Key of the Sunken Moon. I bought a few volumes a few years ago but didn't really read them until now. V1 was difficult for me to get into, but once I got past that, I found that I quite liked the characters and the world building. I read 11 volumes so far (the main story) and am reading the side stories now. 3 volumes worth of side stories! Shui Quan even writes a lot of AU doujinshi of her own works, but I guess those can be considered not canon. XD; She's posted the start of each one in her blog, but without acquiring the actual physical copies, I'll probably never know the endings. I read a Fan Tong x Yue Tui one she wrote... Her latest one seems to feature Fan Tong x Hui Shi, which made me wonder what was going to happen in Sunken Moon's ending to lead to that, since at the time, I'd only read 5 volumes and didn't know how Hui Shi would come into the picture.

I'll be writing a bit more about Sunken Moon some other time~. Haha, now I finally know the who's who in the Sunken Moon artbook I bought! The art for Sunken Moon is really pretty~
SilverManjusaka updated the Chinese translation of My Friend, the Pope (in-training) with chapter 2! You can read it below.

我的好友——(實習)教皇陛下

I really need to update this fic. :'D;

Recent stuff I bought! Well, not so recent anymore, but I finally got around to taking pics~. LSK fanfic doujinshi "Second Life", Key of the Sunken Moon artbook, several Japanese manga, and LSK V3 (new version).

There's this really popular crossover fanfic between Legend of Sun Knight and Unique Legend called "Second Life." There's even fanfics of this fanfic about! I bought the first 5 volumes. They're super thick. (So so epic. I wish I could write like this). You can find the fanfic over here. The basic premise is that Grisia and all the others died and reincarnated in the Unique Legend world. The first part of the story has them finding each other, while later parts of the story incorporate more of the Unique Legend world.

Oh oh, there's not a lot of new merchandise for LSK this August, but the new volume of LSK V3 is coming out!!!! (*hoping for more announcements*)

It comes with a super gorgeous poster of Neo and Aldrizzt, ahhhhhhh (scroll down to see it). /must try to get this somehow

I wonder if Kingstone or books.com.tw will have the poster... or if it's only at the event...

I've yet to read much of Sunken Moon, but the new merchandise for it is super pretty. I might buy the artbook...

They're also selling K side:red and side:blue. I wonder if I should buy the Chinese edition. XD; I'd understand it better than the Japanese novels!

ETA: Yu Wo's post about LSK V3. Includes a better pic of the poster! And two images of the insert art! Silent Eagle! Sun wearing Dragon's Saint Brigandine! And Neo and Aldrizzt! How do Aldrizzt's clothes work, I don't understand it.

ETA2: The Neo&Aldrizzt poster comes with the book at the event and at convenience stores. Online bookstores will give a poster of the V3 cover. Boo.

A few days late, but it was Yu Wo's birthday on 4/29, so she finished writing When Teacher Wasn't Teacher Part 3 and posted that. Here it is! She also received some birthday art which she posted in the same post. First pic features our 3 Sun Knights (37th, 38th, and 39th gen) and our 3 Judgment Knights drawn by J.U. Second pic features Sun and Charles from No Hero drawn by Neko Kreuz. Basically our current two official artists for LSK. XD;

J.U. is hard at work with drawing for the new edition of LSK. I wonder if this means we'll see volume 2 soon. *___*

I've started reading Key of the Sunken Moon, which is another famous Taiwanese light novel, but so far I haven't gotten into it yet. Hope I'll end up liking the characters, since it's usually the characters in a story that win me over. :3;;

Fanime is this month (so soon!), so I really have to get started on my cosplay! Not much time left. I'll be cosplaying Henry from Fire Emblem: Awakening. I might also rewear Bossun from SKET Dance, and I might do a brief stint as Kirihara from Prince of Tennis (U-17 version), though I need to fix my wig... Dang, all guys this time? Not sure how that happened, haha. Recently, it's been fairly hot, so I'm already regretting choosing Henry. Long sleeves, plus that cape, which is black... *dies* Usually, it's never this warm in May. =/
Another fic translation!

LSK stuff! \o\ These arrived in two shipments. Very happy I received these before the year ended.

Legend of Sun Knight manhua v4 + poster of Cloud, J.U./Rippleless artbook (she draws doujinshi of LSK and is also the artist for some of the official merchandize), 3 LSK doujinshi, and 3 volumes of Key of the Sunken Moon by Shui Quan. These three volumes are part of the spin-off. I've yet to read the main series though. I hope I end up liking the series!

ramblings about the doujinshi )

translation of a cute Q&A from the back of LSK manhua v4 )

Happy new years everyone. ♥

By the way, the translation of the Half Prince novels has finally been completed, wow! If you've never read 1/2 Prince before, or you think you might give it a try, now is a good time since the whole thing has been completed! :D Translations can be found over here. Cold Fox has awesome screen time in the ending chapters. 8D

(As for Lucathia spending money, I also bought Oresama Teacher v15, Kimi to Boku v12, Junai Labyrinth v7, Akatsuki no Yona v10, and Bokura no Kiseki v7 last week. *watches money go down the drain*)
[livejournal.com profile] absolutehymn007, I received a lot of postcards from you today! ♥ They're lovely.

No Hero
I recently bought No Hero v7. (The guy on the cover uses pens as weapons. How badass is that? XD;;;) Finished reading this! It was supposed to be the end of the series, but Yu Wo wasn't able to finish the entire series with that volume, so now there will also be a volume 8. Volume 7 concludes nothing! I've read some complaints about volume 7, about how it made things more confusing than necessary, and how too many characters have been introduced or only briefly mentioned. It feels kind of like a transitional volume, and it brings in a lot from Eclipse Hunter, which readers were told wasn't necessary to read to enjoy No Hero. I liked volume 7 though, and was ecstatic when these characters got more of the spotlight (and when the other characters were mentioned, even though only passingly). Also, since I've read Eclipse Hunter, a lot of what happens in this volume reads as dramatic irony to me. At the same time, I feel that readers who haven't read Eclipse Hunter (the prequel), will have fun learning things along with the protagonist. I don't know about the other way around though, reading No Hero before Eclipse Hunter. No Hero pretty much spoils a lot of the plot from EH. Only later volumes though.

spoilerish stuff about the volume~ )

Key of the Sunken Moon
I also bought 5 volumes of Key of the Sunken Moon by Shui Quan. Another Taiwanese light novel series~. I hadn't read any of it before purchasing, so I don't know if I'll like it yet. I hope so, since I already bought 5 volumes of it, haha. Branching out on authors now! \o\ Her writing seems to be fairly humorous too. I like having a dash of humor in my reading. <3

Just checked Yu Wo's plurk. The first volume of the Legend of Sun Knight spin-off/sequel will be out on August 28! \o/

Writing-wise, I've been flitting all over place, trying to write several things all at once, from Bittersweet Sweetness to Invincible to a new LSK fic (hopefully a oneshot). @__@ Currently, I'm going through Memories of the Future again and editing what's currently up of it (some of the grammar is just... *shakes head*). I don't actually have an editable copy of the entire fic! Must change that.
