It's that time again when I round up all the stuff I've written in the past year and reminisce over it. ;) I've been doing this same fic meme for years, haha. This time, I'm also borrowing some questions from GYWO and taking out some old questions to change things up a bit.

(Previous years: 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006)

Welp, looks like LJ crossposts aren't currently working. Checked support tickets and it looks like it's definitely a common problem, if not site wide. Hope it's not a big issue to fix.

Dominion's End v6 is here! It's been about 2 years since the last book~. I uh... don't remember v5 that well. I definitely feel v3 was the most memorable.

Special edition included pins of Dage and Junjun, and a standing acrylic of Shuyu. Cover features Jin Feng. (In the end, she does show up a bit, but she isn't central to this volume)

some more pics and a few thoughts on v6 )
Look what showed up more than three years after Part 1? :'D I was revising a DE chapter for PR! and felt in the mood to tidy up Part 2 of this fic.

Title: Dàgē's Illegitimate Child Part 2
Fandom: Dominion's End
Words: 1,370
Summary: When Shuyu finally reunites with his family, he is accompanied by a new member—Jiang Xiaotian. AU.
Notes: This was the scene that made me want to write the story in the first place. :'D

For the first two weeks of August, I went off to Taiwan~. Been back from the trip for around a week (busy busy trying to settle in with work and catch up with stuff). It's been 17 years since I've traveled there. Boy, do I remember very little of Taiwan. Some things haven't changed though, while some stuff has changed a lot. But what's different about this trip is that I had places and events I wanted to cram in, with a shorter stay than any of my previous trips to Taiwan, so it was a trip with a super full itinerary. Went out bright and early every day and didn't get home until around 11 pm every night. Walked my feet off. XD There was no rest at all. I became very familiar with the public transit. I also got to see my relatives who I haven't seen in just as long as I haven't been back to Taiwan. 17 years!! (I was so tiny back then.)

Dominion's End doujinshi by ICICLE. (blog entry with more info) She's currently selling the doujinshi and does ship overseas, so I bought directly from her~.

The doujinshi is titled "That Jiang family is a little unlucky?" Shuyu laments over their misfortune quite a lot. :') The Jiang family has everything except luck~

I bought and finished reading all 9 volumes of 異願洛恩斯... /rolls around. No one to talk to with about the series. ):

Back to stuff I bought. There was finally enough sunlight for me to take pics! I've always been home too late, or it's been raining. -__-;

Bought myself Human Doll Contract v1 (manhua version) and Dominion's End V4. I got HDC earlier in the month. DEv4 arrived on Thursday. Will put pics up. I thought they would get shipped together after DE got released, but they shipped HDC to me separately.

Cai Hong Zhong, the artist of HDC, sounds so tired and burned out! He also recently fell sick, so there was no new chapter published in December's magazine. I wish him good health. He has an autograph session during February's convention on Feb 14. Pics of the autograph board. I'm amused that the illustration for the body pillow of Ziya was used for the autograph board as well. :'D

I finished reading Dominion's End V4 in three hours. Oops.

Dominion's End V4 was much more relaxing and lighthearted compared to V3. V3 was all the feels. V3 felt like a conclusion. V4 is pretty much the start of another chapter in their lives, building from the ground up. A very transitional volume too. Yu Wo even says that she wants to attempt to write a long story. She's aiming for 15+ volumes. :OOOO As a result, there can be volumes like V3 and V4 where we spend entire volumes away from characters I thought were main characters. Instead, Shuyu spends the majority of the volumes by himself, with side characters, and new characters. The cast is going to be huge. Like, we met a new character in V2 that I thought would be fairly prominent, and they haven't shown up again yet in 2 volumes. We met a new character in V3 that seems fairly important too, but they didn't have a single scene in V4, except for the side story at the end. We're in for a long, long ride.

Recently, I also finished reading Key of the Sunken Moon season 2 volumes 1-2. The new character, Jin Shi, is pretty cute. There's a huge sidestory printed at the end of v2 that's dedicated to his backstory. It paints him in a very different light. At first, I was disappointed that it was a side story and not a continuation of V2. It was seriously a huge chunk of the novel! But as I read the side story, I grew more and more interested in Jin Shi and also the world he came from.

Apparently, Shui Quan's other novel, 異願洛恩斯, is related to Key of the Sunken Moon. It details a world that is connected to Fan Tong's world but separated and can't be reached. One of the characters is even the younger brother of Puhahaha. I went and read everything of what Shui Quan has posted in her blog. She usually posts the beginning of each volume. So, I read the beginning chapters of all 9 volumes. :'D

...I have the general story, but I'm sure missing all the climaxes. In the end, I bought the series. Hoping to be able to read it next week. Same artist as Sunken Moon's artist. Such pretty art~.
Website for Dominion's End V4.

There are character introductions for Uncle (he has a name, Jiang Lingqing), the military guy from V3 (Chen Yanqing), and Guan Weijun.

Guan Weijun. :OOOOOOO She sounds different from the Guan Weijun we've been reading about. Also, no boyfriend. Sounds more carefree?

Cute LSK pins

I bought some cute pins from kyuutan. They arrived yesterday, and ahhhhhh, kyuutan even included a drawing of Sun Santa! /swoons. This truly puts me in a holiday mood. :DDD

Dominion's End V4 is going to be published on January 11, 2016. Pre-orders open on December 28. This is what the cover will look like. Xiao Sha is on the cover this time. Extras for buying the book right away include a clearfile of the girls, and the special edition includes a bag featuring Shuyu and Xiao Tian, as well as the clearfile. Even Xiao Rong (the banyan tree sapling) is featured on the picture of the bag. :DDD Too bad that it's a bag... it'll really affect the image quality. I'll probably order it along with volume 1 of the Human Doll Contract manhua. (BTW, amazingly enough, Ziya has been featured on a body pillow! He's on the very right. I never thought Jiang Ziya would be the first to be featured on a body pillow, out of all of Yu Wo's characters, lol.)

The facebook page for the LSK mobile game has been posting pics of characters from the game and having people guess who they are. Adair was just posted! But... why does he have red hair???? :O He looks like a mix of Earth and Blaze. :'D (Are we sure this isn't Earth? Or Ed. Or someone else. Adair... ;___;)

Adair
Neo (So dark XD)
Aivis (I like how he looks!)
Pink
Aldrizzt
Grisia
Aaaahhhhhh. *flails*

So, Yu Wo held some contests over the summer. There was one for writing impressions/commentary about No Hero, and one for writing impressions/commentary about Dominion's End. I entered both! I started writing the No Hero one very early on but almost decided to scrap it. When I saw the deadline approach, I finally decided to finish and enter it. (Writing in Chinese is so hard ahhhhhh. It's so difficult to express myself... and my writing is so stiff!) After I posted it, I took a look at my reaction post to Dominion's End V3 I'd written in English and thought, "Why not?" So, I translated my post into Chinese and fixed it up a bit, making it a bit more formal and more focused on my reactions and thoughts instead of summarizing events. I entered that too.

lkdasjfla;fda

It took a bit, but results have finally been announced, and omg, omg, my name is there! For both contests! Are my eyes deceiving me??? Ahhhhhhhh. Yu Wo even wrote, "There's actually someone who won twice, haha. Too amazing! Congratulations~" (I saw that sentence first and thought... can't be me, right...? But... omg... XDD;; /still in disbelief)

There are three winners for each contest, and not that many entries this time, but I didn't think I'd get chosen for both. :O *flails*

/continues to be giddy for the rest of the day

The prize is the Bai Lian Yue bundle + 4 rolls of decorative tape. I guess I'll have extras now. XD

I'm very glad my Chinese was comprehensible. :'D;; There was so much I couldn't express though... T___T;; But I guess I'll translate my No Hero entry into English sometime. XD They were my overall thoughts on No Hero and its themes. I never did write a reaction to No Hero's ending in English. =x I'll probably add more to it since writing in English is much easier...
I started a Chinese translation of the fic~

大哥的私生子

What was funny was that I ended up elaborating a bit more (hey, hey, this isn't a translation anymore), so I was sort of editing the story again. Anyway, I went back to the English version and made some revisions to reflect the changes I made in the Chinese version. The Chinese and the English don't match very well, whoops.

And then I received a comment from weixin saying they haven't even gotten V3 yet. XD;; Ahhhh, even in Chinese fandom, V3 is elusive!!

By the way, here's a gorgeous Legend of Sun Knight fan comic drawn by 12HolyKnights called "The sound of piano - A tender feeling." I highly recommend it!

Notes: Because canon didn't do it. XD Alternate version of events for the ending of V3. Spoilers abound. Will be 2 to 3 parts long... I think. Now I'm writing fic for stuff no one has read in English... Maybe I should translate this fic into Chinese. XD I won't be crossposting this fic to ffnet for now.

I came home to Dominion's End waiting at my door~. Finished reading it before bed. Fights after fights. Lots of characters dying, as well as a fairly major character death. D: There always was a death flag, so I'm not surprised. But I'm still sad. Narrative-wise, I'm glad there are very real consequences, and this turn of events makes a lot of sense. (But I'm still going to go off and dream of fanfic situations where the character is still alive. XDDD)

The special bundle came with a towel of the Ice Emperor. What to do with it... Hang the towel on my wall...? XD;

very spoilerish commentary )
Volume 3 of Dominion's End will be released on July 6, 2015. Pre-orders started today on midnight of June 22 in Taiwan. There are 1000 copies that come with a towel of the Ice Emperor. Kingstone has 500 copies, and books.com.tw has 500 copies. It looks like Kingstone is all out while books.com.tw... Didn't open the pre-orders! Good, good, since I was asleep and couldn't order then. Time to haunt the website.

Here's a page introducing volume 3. You can also download a wallpaper of the cover.

As for No Hero V9, Yu Wo said that she's waiting to hear back from the publishers and hopes that she'll have news about the release date within the week. Let's hope~. I wonder who will be on the cover this time? I think all the main characters already had their turn, and since the character on the cover also narrates the short snippet at the beginning of each chapter... Hm, who would be an interesting narrator for this last volume? Maybe An Te Qi? Or that guy from the Church. Or maybe that spoilerish character.

ETA: Snatched myself a copy~~
Finished reading Dominion's End v1. It was basically content that Yu Wo had already plurked! She wasn't kidding that she'd written a volume's worth of content already in her plurks. I wondered if we would get a bit more of the story in the printed version, but nope. Still, I reread what was written and got sucked right back in. Tried to ponder why (sometimes Yu Wo's stories start out a bit slow, such as GOD and Kill No More. Even LSK for me. And No Hero too... So actually, most of her stories, in my opinion!). My conclusion? It's because this is a thriller. XD; Very much a page-turner, full of battles, life and death situations, and some mystery. While most of Yu Wo's series start with slow world-building and character introductions, this one dumps us right into the action without being confusing. It's definitely more of a react first, think later type of story. I suppose end of the world scenarios call for that, haha.

It makes for a nice change, and it's a much easier read than Gong Hua (a bit shorter and way less nerve-wracking). Despite this being an end of the world scenario, our main character has such a good chance this time around that things are actually fairly lighthearted. There is some identity angst, some cynicism and self doubt, along with fierce protectiveness over family. Jiang Shuyu, you win. You have all the qualities of being a favorite main character of mine. XD; I understand your protectiveness over your new family. They are super cute.

There are tons of fight scenes, way more than LSK (then again, Grisia doesn't really fight. He schemes, haha). Usually battle scenes don't do much for me, but it's fun seeing Shuyu experiment with his powers (and basically kick ass). There is an allure to powerful characters, isn't there... Shuyu's excuse being that he's been through this before. (time traveling and dimensional hopping = huge advantage for the Jiang family)

Regarding the powers revealed in this first volume, I will never stop being amused that Read more... )

Dominion's End seems to be slated for at least 7~8 volumes. Volumes are not really self-contained at all, unlike LSK where each volume has its own mini conclusion. V1 of Dominion's End kind of just ended right in the middle of the action. D: Anyway, V2 is scheduled to be released this December. I hope that indeed happens. :3;; But it sounds like we'll be getting No Hero V9 before that! September is Yu Wo's prediction.

Autograph session for Dominion's End v1 (Haha, there was a No Hero cosplayer there~~ of Ji Luo Chu. And wow, someone already cosplayed Jiang Shuyu! The readers are all so young~~~)

Got Yu Wo's new novel, Dominion's End today! It's Yu Wo's version of the end of the world, with a dimensional hopping, time traveling do-over of sorts for the main character.

Also got 1/2 Prince manhua v16, the last volume! Wow, the end. Cai Hong Zhong says on the inside flap, "I finally finished drawing 1/2 Prince. Seven years of my youth..." :'D (Thank you for your hard work!!!) Min Gui Wen cosplaying as his game avatar asjdfla;sjdf;af. Ming Bin's RL appearance. djf;laj; (WHAT IS THAT HAIR)

Yu Wo plurked today that she got herself addicted to blueberries just like Sun. Somehow, the conversation turned to how Ice must be broke because of Grisia's love for blueberries, and Yu Wo answered:
Ice: I planted a field of blueberries in the corner of the Holy Temple.

(Ahhhhh that is such a cute image... Ice, why are you so cute)

Gong Hua V4 comes out on July 15. It's the last volume! At first, Gong Hua was slated for 3 volumes, but Yu Wo couldn't fit everything she wanted in 3 volumes. She thought each of the volumes would turn into 2 volumes, making it 6 volumes in all. I'm really surprised the end volume count is 4. I hope it's not a rushed ending!

Awaitsun

J.U.'s version of Awaitsun. The detail on his armor, ahhhh. The wings for Silent Eagle! So novel!Awaitsun has dark hair. *___* (I still can't get over manhua!Awaitsun having white hair)

(Text says: His son's eyes. The color is the same as his!)

Ahhhhh, Shuis!!!! ♥

I preordered the first book of 終疆 (promotion video, Yu Wo's post, promotion page). The promotion page has profiles for the siblings. Dage is 27. Shuyu is 18 (but his soul is that of a 35 year old girl). Shujun is 15. Haha, Shuyu's profile... Body is siscon, soul is brocon. Yup, that sums Shuyu up. These three siblings will really do me in. XD Shutian (Dage) is a little like Ri Xiang Yan from Eclipse Hunter/No Hero, though he's... a bit nicer? XD;

ETA: I AM DONE WRITING THE LAST CHAPTER OF BITTERSWEET SWEETNESS, AHHHHHH. (Now to edit) BUT DONE. Expect to see the last chapter sometime within a week, hopefully. XD;
