Is anyone interested in writing a Legend of Sun Knight round robin story with me? :3 I would very much like to work on a collaborative story. XD;
The basic idea behind it is that several authors will take turns writing the story and passing it along. There will be a central idea, but after that, anything goes! You just have to write a certain word count, and then you pass it on to the next person. The story doesn't have to make sense by the end. (In fact, I'm hoping it will be utter crack, though maybe it could turn out serious) The aim is just to have fun. :)
I used to looove writing 3 word stories where you had to pass on the story after three words and the next person had to continue it with 3 words. The results were always hilarious because you never knew how the next person would continue it. (Though, I'm proposing more than 3 words here, hahaha. Maybe something like 200~500 words. Not too long that it would take a long time to write, but not too short that nothing substantive has happened.)
If we can get maybe at least three authors on board (more can feel free to join in at anytime!), we can get something going. :D /wishful thinking
ETA: I'm going to try starting a Round Robin fic here in this post! :3;;
1. I will make a comment with the beginning of a fic, with a title in the subject line. Reply to this comment with a continuation of the story.
2. Each continuation only needs to be around 100~500 words, but we won't be keeping track or anything. XD; Shorter or longer = both are okay.
3. You only have to wait for one other author to comment before you in order to take another turn.
4. You can feel free to start your own Round Robin stories too! (Just make a new comment and label the subject line with the title for the new fic and we can start threading with you! \o\)
5. If you are an anonymous commenter, feel free to sign your part with your name, or you could keep it anonymous if you want. XD;
6. Feel free to join in at any time!
7. Feel free to comment/respond to the stories!

Story 1: The Legendary Four-
Date: 2014-04-04 06:14 am (UTC)Neo glanced up.
"Why have you pulled your hood up again?" Neo admonished. "The people here are already used to you." In fact, it was the first thing Neo had made sure of. The moment he walked into the inn, he had immediately intimidated everyone in the inn into accepting Aldrizzt's presence. It wouldn't do if Aldrizzt had to hide while they were in Leaf Bud City. Other cities, fine, but Leaf Bud City was Neo's territory!
Neo's words only made Aldrizzt pull his hood up further. Even so, his dark skin could still be seen. After all, his hands were out in the open, and there was no preventing people from seeing a flash of his skin whenever he moved. A hood was not enough to conceal everything.
Even if Neo couldn't sense it, Aldrizzt acutely felt the stares from the people in the inn. Despite Neo's intimidation tactics, people had kept on staring at him throughout their entire stay, and now they were staring even more.
Aldrizzt darted his eyes around, blood rushing to his cheeks. He was definitely not imagining all the whispers.
Impatient, Neo leaned forward and tugged at Aldrizzt's hood.
When Aldrizzt's hood fell, the whispers around the room grew louder. Many people gasped. Others spoke furtively but were so obviously gossiping about him that Aldrizzt's cheeks grew very warm.
"It's a dark elf!"
That wasn't so bad. He was used to that. But...
"He's even involved with the former Sun Knight!"
Aldrizzt really wished his hood were still back on.
"Does that make it a fivesome?"
Neo finally reacted, turning a raised eyebrow at Aldrizzt. "Aldrizzt, I never knew you were such a flirt. I'm hurt you trust me so little!"
Aldrizzt rolled his eyes. It was time to confess. "The truth is, Neo, the people here think I'm involved with your student...in a foursome."
-----
(...I don't know why I ended up writing this, hahahaha. Couldn't come up with anything else. Let's see if anyone wants to continue this story from here. =P Just reply to this thread! Though maybe I should have started us off with a Grisia-centric story. Still, feel free to continue this story with whatever POV you like. You can totally continue with Neo and Aldrizzt or feature a different POV)
(*^*)/
Date: 2014-04-04 07:40 pm (UTC)“So that child actually went and blew away the Sun knights image with not one woman, but three AND another man…”
A cold seat ran down Aldrizzt back, but he tried to explain. “Actually there was only one woman–”
“ONE?!” Neo interrupted and then stood up. “Come Aldrizzt we need to go”
“Where to?” Aldrizzt asked in a calmed tone, but he was actually very concerned…about Grisia’s safety.
“To see Chasel of course!” said Neo while rolling his eyes at Aldrizzt.
Now, Aldrizzt was confused, so he asked Neo in a doubtful tone “Why?”
“To warn him about Grisia!”
Aldrizzt was not sure about what Neo meant, but he was unwilling to ask, so he just stayed in his place unmoving while staring at Neo in confusion.
Neo was getting impatient, so he explained further in a calmer tone. “How can you expect me to leave things like this? They all live under the same roof Aldrizzt! The SAME roof! Let the talking about the Sun Kinght’s image for later, right now I need to ensure everyone’s safety!” he sighed, “I knew I shouldn’t have left him being a temple-guy… but who knew he would suddenly go and bat for the other team?”
“…”
continuing...
Date: 2014-04-05 05:56 am (UTC)"Don't give me that nonsense!" Neo said ignoring him. "That stupid student of mine was actually seen having a foursome! Not with three women, oh no, but with three other men! MEN!!! When I get my hands on him... he'll never have to deal with problems like this again! Hahahahaha, he won't even have to worry about having children..."
Aldrizzt eyes twitched. He felt that Grisia would have had an easier time escaping from the Demon King himself then from his currently deranged teacher. 'The look in his eyes are really quite scary...' he thought quietly.
"Anyway" Neo said waving his hand dismissively "We're here, finally!" He said half dragging Aldrizzt in front of a quaint little house.
Aldrizzt had to control his urge to roll his eyes. Finally, indeed.
It took them almost half a day to reach Chasel's house, which was quite literally at the end of the city's main road. Any normal person could've reached this destination in a couple of hours just by following a straight line, but not Neo. No, they had been walking in the opposite direction for almost four hours, since "Neo knew this city like the back of his hand". It was only when they nearly reached the city's edge that Neo finally accepted the fact that they were going in the wrong direction...
"I thought you used to live in this city. Your talent of getting absurdly lost even in your own home town is quite worthy of praise" Aldrizzt sighed tiredly.
"Did you say something?" Neo asked with a raised eyebrow.
"...No, nothing."
Aldrizzt sighed again. If what people said was true and sighing really did reduce your lifespan, he was sure that his adventures with Neo had cost him at least 200 years.
He shook his head sadly. Fate really had a twisted sense of humour.
continuing (2/3)
Date: 2014-04-05 05:57 am (UTC)Aldrizzt turned away from his ward... I mean, friend, and inspected the garden in front of the house. He was surprised to notice the variety and how well cared for the flowers were. It was obvious that their owner worked hard at keeping them well tended.
"Anyway, let's go inside!" Neo said, kicking the door open with a loud bang.
"Hey, control yourself isn't this your friend's house?"
"Pah! It's fine Chasel won't mind, he hasn't seen me in quite some time... I'll bet that he'll even be pleased with our visit!"
Aldrizzt doubted that statement for some reason.
He looked around curiously. The house was well furnished, although without much exorbitance. From what Aldrizzt could tell, this sort of style was for people who weren't used to receiving that many visitors, nonetheless, he did notice some pots of flowers by the window, which gave the house a somewhat cosy feel to it. This was definitely not what he was expecting from a house of the previous Judgement Knight.
"I thought I heard someone break through my door..." said a man in a low voice, appearing from one of the inner rooms. He raised an eyebrow when he saw the sorry state of his front door. "...Do you think you are the Blaze Knight, Neo? Can't you knock like a normal person?"
"Who has time for knocking nowadays? Anyway, serve us some food Chasel! We've been walking almost the entire day just to get here! You really should consider moving to a more accessible location."
Aldrizzt placed his hands over his forehead and groaned softly.
Chasel looked at loss for words. Glancing from the grinning Neo to the exasperated Aldrizzt, he simply shook his head and headed to the kitchen to get some refreshments.
Neo made himself comfortable in one of the living room's sofas. Aldrizzt quietly sat in the farthest chair away from where his friend was sitting. He had a feeling that he'd want to be far away from both Neo and Chasel during the course of this conversation.
"So what brings you here? You hardly ever visit." Chasel said a little accusingly.
He gently set a tray of snacks and tea in front of his guests. He looked up, "Please, tell me you're not here to ask me to deal with a town you've destroyed."
Neo rolled his eyes. "Don't be so dramatic, Chasel. That only happened once... I'm past that phase now."
Aldrizzt rolled his eyes. He seriously doubted that statement.
"Anyway, I'm here to warn you about something very important... It concerns the safety of that child, Lesus." Neo said seriously.
Chasel fiddled with his tea cup worriedly. "Has something happened? Lesus has always been so capable, he never has had that much trouble handling dangerous situations before."
"Actually, this might be one of the worst and most dangerous situations your student has ever dealt with." Neo whispered dangerously. "My student... apparently... has begun playing for the other team."
Chasel looked at Neo dumbfoundedly. "He... what?"
"He was found engaged... in-in a foursome... with three of his brothers and a dark elf."
Chasel choked on his tea and began having a coughing fit.
"Now, imagine what my student would do with his other brothers, especially those who are used to handling his demands daily... like your student, the young Judgement Knight, for example?"
Chasel looked quite despaired (and a little sick) over the idea of the Sun Knight actually jumping the Judgment Knight.
After shaking his head for some time, probably trying to get rid of the disturbing images, he clenched his fist and stood up decidedly. "...We leave at once. I'll handle this situation personally." Chasel said in a dangerous voice.
"Oh yes, we will definitely deal with Grisia." Neo said gleefully, rubbing his hands together.
Aldrizzt thought that Neo looked like a predator about to corner his prey.
"...and you" Aldrizzt turned to see Chasel glaring at him dangerously, "I don't care what personal hobbies you have during your own time, but if you dare lay a hand on my student... I'll personally take you to the Judgement Complex for being a hazard to society!"
Aldrizzt whimpered. Grisia wasn't the only one in trouble....
Re: continuing (2/3)
Date: 2014-04-05 07:53 am (UTC)Not like Neo would have listened anyway, he never did once he set his mind on some "truth" of his - at least if it was about this kind of without-Neo's-intervention-not-lethal-kind of business. Sometimes Aldrizzt was unsure wether his travelling companion just loved messing around or if he really took these things seriously. Probably both. Anyway, he would have expected for his Judgement Knight to think twice if the blond haired man started spouting such outrage... Maybe this was some kind of motherly love for his student blinding his eyes? Unexpected, but not impossible.
Either way he missed his chance and thus his only option now was to quietly follow the two and pretend he did, in fact, not exist. If people where staring at his cloaked figure before he had no words to describe the townspeople's reaction to seeing both the former Sun and Judgement Knights marching together with grim expressions while being followed by a suspicious guy who hid his face behind a cloak in bright daylight. But little did it stop at the commoners; even the holy knights of the temple jumped in shock when they saw Neo and Chasel approach with expressions as grim as if they were going to war.
"Where is the Sun Knight?" Chasel almost bellowed at the first holy knight that caught his attention before Neo had the chance to do the same. The people here still regarded him as the former Sun Knight no matter his raggedy adventurer ways after all so there was still some image to keep.
The poor young man (not much more than a squire by his age but Aldrizzt could never be so sure with humans) sqeaked and jumped, but hurriedly saluted.
"I saw Knight-Captain Sun head towards the Judge's Complex earlier today, Sir!"
Chasel nodded sternly as Neo rushed passed the confused and slightly intimidated holy knight. Then he and Aldrizzt gave chase. Better catch Neo before he got to his student. No matter how upset Chasel himself may be he would surely keep him in check... or so the dark elf hoped. Thankfully, while the Holy Temple seemed one of the few if not the only place Neo was able to successfully navigate without taking more than two wrong turns, the Judge's Complex presented more of a challenge to him and they were able to catch up with him in time. Maybe this was the time to take word and explain...
Or not. There they went. Oh well. Better not get separated or the knights here might mistake him for a fugitive.
After rushing to and fro each and every interrogation room they could find and meeting neither Grisia nor Chasel's student Lesus their steps finally came to a halt in front of what looked like... a bathroom door? But just as Aldrizzt wanted to ask why they stood in front of the door instead of entering if one of them wanted to use the toilet he heard the voices from inside. Well, more like sounds really. He listened closely, trying to make out any words or at least the vague situation behind the door, and when he stepped closer to the door to eavesdrop he noticed the other men did the same.
"Aaaah~ Don't be like that!"
That was definitely Grisia's voice, and in a whiny tone at that. What followed it was a deep-voiced chuckle.

Date: 2014-04-08 07:25 am (UTC)Not even to complain of a headache! Even with his number one victim present, no one was complaining!
Grisia closed his mouth. He then closed the door behind him. Immediately after he closed the door, he let his smile drop.
The Pope, Ceo, Georgo, and Vival had their backs facing him. They were bent, or well, Ceo, Georgo, and Vival were bent over something, while the Pope didn't have to do any bending, not with his height.
Grisia walked forward.
Georgo was the first to notice him. He straightened back up. "Oh, you're finally here. Took you long enough. I thought you died somewhere!"
You try having to walk at the speed of a tortoise! Grisia thought. Besides, the Sun Knight obviously has to make dramatic entrances!
Grisia made a note to himself to interrupt Georgo's "dates" even more frequently.
After hearing Georgo speak, Ceo glanced over. He looked between Grisia and whatever he had been bent over. He then slid his eyes over once more to Grisia. It was then that Grisia noticed a very strange expression on Ceo's face... like... a wobbling... smile? It was like Ceo was trying to force himself not to smile.
Grisia made a noncommittal noise and moved closer to whatever they were all looking at, not liking the look on Ceo's face, nor the smug expression on Georgo's, nor the glee on the Pope's, nor the amused one on Vival's.
As he approached, the Pope explained, "The mission this time is an undercover one. Judgment agreed that these knight-captains are the most suited for the initial stage of this mission, but the others will join in at a later date."
Grisia already knew that much. What he wanted to know was what had put those irritating expressions on their faces. Grisia didn't doubt that the joke was on him, and he didn't like that one bit.
"And?" Grisia prompted.
Ceo finally couldn't contain his grin. He grabbed what was on the table and held it up. "And these will be our undercover outfits for the mission," he said.
------
(Dun dun dun! What kind of outfits are they? What kind of mission is this? Only the next person will know, haha. Anyway, I hope more people start stories! =P Thank you for participating. <3333)
Re pt 1: Story 2: A Mission (*^*)/
Date: 2014-04-10 10:01 pm (UTC)“Of course it is your outfit! And since you arrived last you don’t get to choose!” said Ceo with an overly excited face. Truth is he was the first to arrive, and thus the first to choose, and was actually excited to wear his costume.
Everyone started to dress up.
Grisia was still shaking while holding his outfit. ‘Why? Just why?!’ he thought while trying to build up courage and get himself in his outfit.
They were to dress up as a wandering troupe.
The first one to get changed was Ceo. He felt very touched and happy wearing his costume. He was dressed as a heavy and outdated Knight, full armor on. Helmet included. It was lighter than it looked, since it was fake and was even comfortable to stay in.
“Old-time knights were truly awesome!” Ceo couldn’t help saying in happiness “No brains, just brute strength; no girls when helmet is down and what’s better… no paperwork!” Ceo was so happy he was practically jumping in joy.
Next came Georgo. Apparently he came just after Ceo, and thus was the second to choose. Grisia gritted his teeth for Georgo’s outfit would have suited him 200% better.
Georgo would be the troupe’s wandering bard.
He wore a pair of brownish pants and boots, a big white long-sleeve shirt and a dark green cape with a beautiful metal brooch. Flute included.
None actually questioned Georgo’s capacity for singing or playing songs, other than Grisia of course.
“cough cough hekeepsthousandsofhandkerchiefsinhisdrawerjusttoattractpriestesscough cough” Grisia coughed out though none seemed to understand him, other than Georgo of course. He feigned ignorance though, at least for now, since as of that moment he will be able to woo girls to his heart’s content and it will be completely legal!. The only thing he wasn’t happy about was his tiny flute, how was he going to play it?!
Vival was the last to finish dressing up. He wasn’t specially fond and grateful of his outfit like Ceo or Georgo. He actually found it kind of ironic, but well at least it was better than Grisia’s.
His outfit was that of an oracle or fortune-teller, with crystal ball included. It was a large yellow coat with symbols of almost every known God and under it a black robe that covered even his feet. He wore a big shining, but cheap, jewel in his forehead with matching earrings. His hands were now full of rings – equally cheap – for appearances sake.
At least now, he would not pass as a ‘haughty, irritating guy’ – Grisia’s words. Since now, he can blame it to fortune. Like, ‘I am looking to the sky in order to read your fortunes’ or ‘God is telling me what is going to come’ or things like that – by the pope.
Re pt2: Story 2: A Mission
Date: 2014-04-10 10:11 pm (UTC)“Come out Sun, I know you have fully dressed since ages ago!” said the Pope a bit impatient. It wasn’t such a hard mission.
“…”
“Sun, drag yourself out of that closet or I’ll do it for you and take your salary as compensation for the effort!” threatened the annoyed pope. It was enough knowing Ceo wasn’t going to be home - meaning no paperwork done - for him to get a headache, he didn’t need Sun’s tantrums to worsen it.
Grisia finally and unwillingly got out of the closet while saying, “I’ll freeze to death in this!”
Everyone looked at him in all seriousness…
“Pft!” for at least five seconds.
He wore a pair of dark blue pants with a black hip scarf over them, everything kept in place by a tribal belt, made of black and golden coins beaded. A wide black and gold tribal-looking collar hanged around his neck. His right arm was decorated by a matching black, with golden details, arm-bracelet. His hair was up and completely covered by a black bandana.
"I don't think freezing to death should be your main concern...pfft!" laughed the Pope
“Hahahaha, Sun you look so good I can’t decide between a magically beautiful transvestite genie or a very ‘fashionable’ mysterious pirate hahahaha” said Georgo. ‘I knew you were most suited to be metal, damn Earth!’
“Hahaha…gasp!... don’t worry yours comes with black slippers and cape, to add mystery!” added Ceo while laughing.
“And he… and he… just came out of the closet!” said Vival. A sudden realization flashing through everyone’s eyes.
Everyone laughed so hard, tears came out and laughter not.
Meanwhile Sun was slowly gathering water element in the room, without anyone noticing and with a scary smile on.
"Ha. Ha. So funny."

Date: 2014-04-15 02:10 am (UTC)The blond man stood in the room, his face almost slack from shock. His beloved Knights; his Brothers, were all present and currently all trying not to laugh their heads off.
Let's just say that they weren't really succeeding.
The Pope stood in front of the blond man, desperately trying to stop his twitching mouth. "Unfortunately, I'm not."
Sun's hands shook slightly as his hands gripped the soft and silky material--soft and silky!--before he lifted his hand and began pleading.
"Then, please tell me you're joking."
Blaze coughed distractedly. "Um..." His eyes were almost glued to the bundle of clothes--Sun's doom as far as he was concerned--his Leader was currently holding. "It...won't be that bad..."
Sun face-faulted. "...Won't be that bad...? You try wearing THIS!" And with that, he threw up his little bundle.
Earth started smirking again.
A long white and gold dress was unveiled. It was trimmed with gold and had intricate designs. Simply put, it was a gorgeous dress.
Unfortunately, it was one Sun had to wear.
A very important mission where all the Knights have to go to a private boarding school? Sure, sure, who cares? They need a female spy? Sure, let's just dress up our Sun Knight as a girl! He won't mind at all!~
NOT.
Blaze meeped as everyone tried imagining hot-headed Blaze in a dress. "Um, no thanks."
The Pope sighed and pushed our beloved soon-to-be-crossdressing Sun Knight into the nearest room, successfully preventing another torrent of nast comebacks. "I already sent in applications, complete with photos. And I already stated that you were female, Knight-Captain Sun, so you can't get out of this one."
His tone immediately turned cheery. "Anyways, get dressed! You're leaving in a hour!"
And then Sun's personal Hell started.

Since an advanced deep knowledge or impressive physical prowress is needed when applying, only the elite among elite come here (in addition to the exorbitant fees!...shudder...).
The students here can take on responsibilities at a young age and get a chance to become an adult in an environment where they are safe.
Ah, such a magnificent place to be!
With its mage tower in function they can even control the climate inside the campus. So today was no different day from others in the last week, a tranquil sunny day.
However, today was quite a different day.
Twelve new students will enter today, through the main gates.
It was a great view for everyone present. Just like a fairytale.
Eleven handsome men entered the gates. Each wearing their magnificent uniforms in a royal like way.
There was even a man for every taste: mysterious, honest, cute, flirty, fiery, ruthless, cold, reliable, narcissist, free spirited and...and...?...the other handsome guy! - girl fans view

The bit-girl! In uniform suddenly stopped, opened her eyes wide and suddenly her eyes became teary. All men just wanted to rush forward to console her, but her lackeys immediately went to her aid.
All spectators wondered what were they talking about.

"I can't! I just can't!" said Sun while tears of anger gathered in his eyes.
"It's already too late and you're already in the dress! Why not play your role?!" said Earth while smiling
"Damn you Earth!"
"Don't call him, remmember we are supposed to be students. We even have aliases..." Judge reminded them.
Everyone was speechless at that.
Because their alias name was so half-baked. Since the Pope didn't want to think about names he just made some up with the already existing ones.
So they ended this way:
Sia Nus = Grisia Sun("Because Gri sounded too manly" - Pope. "Haha! you're a nose!" -Earth)
Geo Rath = Georgo Earth ("Just like your real self!" - Sun)
El Fea = Elmairy Leaf ("Because his name sounded too girly" - Everyone "TT^TT" - leaf)
Ceo Mort = Ceo Storm ('He really needs vacations' - thought everyone)
Dem Dol = Demos Cloud ("It kind of rhymed" - Pope. "..." - Everyone)
Ro Lehl = Roland Hell ("I even used Hell's full name for it!" - Pope. "¬¬" - Everyone)
Chik Zal = Chikus Blaze ("Meh"- Pope. "(*v*)/" Blaze)
Jud Less = Lesus Judgement ("...")
Lan Cie = Ecilan Ice ("It sounds more like a name than the rest" - Pope. "Why not Wasty?" - Sun.)
Ai Tone = Aivis Stone ("It sounds kind of familiar..."-Stone)
Laca Tal = Laica Metal ("At least it doesn't sound like some kind of paint..." - Metal)
Viv Nomo = Vival Moon ("Why does it gives me a bad feeling?" - Moon. "!!!..." Everyone + Pope)
"Then I'll go with Geo, Ceo, El, Chik and Ro to the registration area, while Lan, Ai and Laca do some reconnaissance. Jud and Viv make sure our rooms are close one to the other, so that in case of emergency we can rapidly gather together" instructed Sun.
Everyone nodded, but felt some weird new found fondness for their old names.
"Why should we five accompany you? Is it not best to scatter around and gather information?" Asked blaze confused.
"Do you want me to get raped or abducted?! Because that's how one gets that!" said Sun somewhat alarmed. Leaf and Storm nodded in agreement.
"He was beautiful to begin with, so now that he is a woman, he seems...easier to catch?" said Earth in a sarcastic tone. Leaf, Storm and Hell nodded in agreement.
Blaze didn't ask anything anymore.
Everyone took their separate ways in order to begin what was going to be their most exhausting mission.

Story 4: A Day in the Life of
Date: 2015-03-13 04:26 am (UTC)-----
I'd heard about him from the other merchants. Lately, there's been this guy dressed in a funny fashion going around from stall to stall, buying food in bulk. On top of dressing weirdly, he also talks in a funny way, all old-fashioned, like someone from a previous century or something. I hadn't thought much of it. After all, it was much more likely to see someone running about in revealing clothes and run their mouths off than the opposite.
But when I first saw him myself, I immediately understood why everyone made such a huge fuss about him.
Seriously, who dresses in old-fashioned suits like that in this kind of weather, covered from head to toe?
I watched him chat amiably with the stalls nearby, his bags growing with each stall he frequented. He wore a faint smile on his face, friendly, but not overly inviting. Among the crowd at the market, he stood out a lot. Of course, his clothes had to do with it, but his manner set him apart even more. It couldn't be comfortable always maintaining a posture like his. It was completely bizarre watching such a man carry a bunch of groceries. Gaudy jewels and other expensive stuff would be much more fitting.
When he came to a stop before me, I started and slammed down the chicken I had been holding. I pretended to be busy with the chicken.
Did he notice me watching him?
His next words were even more surprising than his presence, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I was, after all, trying to sell chicken.
"May I ask how much it would cost to purchase three chickens?" he asked, as if his hands weren't already full with groceries. I'd already seen him purchase bags full of pork!
Seriously, who talks like that?!
Re: Story 4: A Day in the Life of
Date: 2015-03-31 06:50 am (UTC)What the-?
My arms sagged at the weight. I couldn't help but remark, "That's a lot of food. You stocking up for an apocalypse?"
The man smiled and bowed slightly rather than shaking his head, "Not at all, Charles is simply buying groceries for the children of his family."
Okay, it's not just his clothes. His way of speaking is simply too stiff!
I pointed a chicken at him suspiciously. "Aren't you a little too young to be calling yourself a father?"
From the way he stiffened, I could tell my guess was right.
"Does Charles really look so young?"
This guy, did he seriously think he could pass for an old man?
I decided to tease him a bit. "Nevermind a father! Are you even of legal age to be married?"
"..."
This guy is simply too entertaining! It looked like my words had struck a huge blow. All he had to do was look in a mirror to tell I was joking!
I laughed and slapped him on the shoulder. "If you're going to pretend to be a father, at least wear a wedding ring."
That seemed to break him out of his stupor. He looked at me apologetically, "Charles must apologize. He did not mean to mislead you. By children, Charles only meant his younger siblings"
...Did he really think he could change his mind at the last second?
"Siblings huh? How many?"
"Tw- twelve." For a second, it sounded like he'd wanted to say two. He handed me two chickens.
I placed the first chicken on the chopping board. "You take care of all them? What about your parents?"
“Our esteemed mother passed away early.”
"So you're the oldest?"
"No," He spoke carefully as if afraid I would suspect his age again. "Charles is the second eldest. However, while Father and Dage are working, he would take care of the kids."
I finished packaging the second chicken and he handed me the third one.
"Okay, that still doesn't explain why you're wearing so much."
"That's..." I could practically see the gears whirring in his head.
I smacked him with the chicken. "Don't worry about it, Charles! Your secret is safe with me."
He paled but still tried his gentlemanly smile on me. "I-it's not what you- I don't understand what you mean."
He snuck a sheepish glance at me. I just grinned. He finally dropped the polite speech!
"Yeah, you know, there were signs. But don't worry I won't tell anyone!"
"What signs?"
I lowered my voice. "You're wearing so many layers even though it's this hot! Only someone trying to disguise their gender would do something so unnecessary."
Did I guess wrong? Unexpectedly, he was making a helpless expression at me.
"I mean, what kind of man goes grocery shopping regularly? Right?"
He sighed dramatically. (And if I wasn't imagining things, with some relief.) "The truth is Charles is allergic to sunlight."
"You are? What would happen if you- you know."
He smiled looking paler than before. "I'd die."
"....."
I gave him a fourth chicken on the house.
After that, I helped him gather up his bags.
I couldn't help but sigh. "It's a pity."
He tried to console me. "It's not so bad not being able to touch direct sunlight. Really."
"Not about that. Don't get me wrong; that's a pity too. I meant your gender." I shook my head. "Sigh, if you had really been a woman, you'd totally be my type."
"Type of what?" He tilted his head completely dismissing the important part.
"I mean, where else are you going to find someone who can cook, likes taking care of people with a gentle smile and won't wear revealing clothes in front of other men? Tsk tsk what a waste!"
"Ow!" I didn't get to see Charles' reaction because I felt the smack of a chicken on the back of my head.
"Son, you'd better not be slacking off! Look, you made our guest drop his things.”
I retorted, "'Son, don't go smacking people with chickens. What will our guests think?'"
Ducking the second swing, I crouched down with Charles to pick up the few items he dropped. "Sorry Charles."
"It's no trouble, thank you."
I picked up a small box and was about to hand it over when I happened to glance at the cover.
It was a pack of bullets.

Date: 2015-04-05 12:49 am (UTC)Ahhhh, I'm so curious!
It was too bad Charles had already left, or else I would definitely ask him about his younger fifth sister.
"Was that Charles?" asked the old granny who sold vegetables.
I nodded. "Yeah."
"What a considerate fellow, isn't he?"
"Yup."
In this day and age it was rare indeed for someone to do so much for their family. I can't imagine having such a huge family with so many siblings, and having to take care of all of them. Weird though he was, Charles was a good fellow. Heh, he seems the kind that would never get his head smacked with a chicken by his dad!
The rest of my customers for the evening were a lot less interesting than Charles, and most only bought one chicken or even just half of one. Charles had already bought bags full of pork, yet he still walked away with four chickens. I had a feeling this wouldn't be the last I'd see of him!
As the sun set, I cleared up the stall, getting ready to go home. As I was covering up the crates, the television screens on the side of the far buildings flashed with today's late night news.
I looked up at the screen. The other vendors did the same.

(Oh wait, this was supposed to highlight the awesomeness of the chicken merchant hmmm XD;; *passes it on*)

Date: 2015-04-05 07:18 am (UTC)Since the guy wasn't paying any attention to me, I slowly reached behind me, hands blindly trying to find something useful. Good thing Charles' bag is blocking the guy's view of the table.
Rats, I'd already packed my knives and hadn't had time to take them out again before this man came stumbling in.
"Take those damn clothes off!"
Charles wasn't moving, no doubt in a dilemma over getting exposed to the sun.
Come on, isn't there something I can use...
My hands touched something cold.
Ah.
Well, this would be for a good cause!
I closed my hands around a thigh, lifting the rest of the body, and flung the chicken at the man, watching the dead bird soar through the air under the red hues of the sunset.
It was beautiful watching the very moment the featherless lump smacked the guy on the face, but no luck, he still had the taser gripped firmly. Hm, the chicken really was too small.
I grabbed the second chicken.
It was then that Charles reacted.
