My domain and hosting is expiring soon. I almost forgot. Better renew it over the weekend before all my websites go poof.

Suuuuuper headache, so not quite sure what exactly I'm typing here. XDDD;; Hope everything makes sense despite my spelling mistakes and wrong words (I think one word... my fingers type another).

Episode 11

They stop at Rush Valley, home of automail, and everyone admires Ed's automail so much that he gets stripped to his boxers, and his watch gets stolen by Paninya, who is super hard to chase down. After they find her, they're led to Dominic, who is skilled with automail. Ed gets told that his automail is heavy, which could possibly have something to do with his height. Ed then fantasizes about growing taller than both Winry and Al after getting his automail upgraded.

Pfftt. I don't know, he'd look like a giant if he were actually this tall. (Those clothes don't seem suited for this kind of height). And Al's expression... XD;;

Ed: Please? Pretty please? Please teach Winry how to make automail that will make me grow taller!

Dominique really reminds me of this coach guy from Eyeshield 21. Maybe it's just the old guy + white hair part. XD; *can't find another pic of him with his fierce expression*

Dominique: Shut up, flea.

Ouch. XD;

Reeaaaally adorable who both of them are so amazed. <3333 And then everyone pitching in their efforts to help the birth, especially Winry! She was amazing! And we also get to learn a bit about her parents and their doctor background. We also see that Dominique, despite his gruffness, is a softie with some matters.

Winry is completely beat because of helping with the birth, and she feels bad for looking inside Ed's watch, where he carved, "Don't forget 3.Oct.11." Ed drops her in his fury, but things blow over quickly.

(In fact, I think the watch part was pretty much glossed over when I thought it was huge the first time around, but eh, at least it was still included)

Ed gets mad at Paninya.

Winry stays in Rush Valley with Mr. Garfield after this to learn more about automail.

Episode 12

Ed and Al pay their teacher a visit (to strengthen their resolve and to learn more, something like that). When Sig Curtis sees them, he even pats Al on the head (gosh, you'd need to be reaaally tall to be able to do that), and comments about how much Al grew.

I kept thinking, how soon would they find out about their bodies? (They're going to be in sooo much trouble)

Izumi makes a dramatic (and violent) entrance, with a kick to Ed's face with her W.C. slippers. She then spits blood and is so lovey dovey with her husband that hearts fly and smack Ed and Al in the face.

I was going to say she makes her "first" appearance, but then I remembered catching sight of Izumi and Sig in the episode when Winry arrived in Central. I had to watch that part twice to get good screencaps of them when they passed by in the background. XD;

Flashback to when Izumi first shows up in front of the boys (and demonstrates the prowess of a housewife). Was amused to see both boys hanging off her arm after her show of alchemy. She refuses to teach them until she hears that they're parent-less.

She leaves them on an uninhabited island and tells them to think about what one is all, all is one means. For one month.

They are sure tenacious boys. I doubt normal kids can survive all alone on such an island without going crazy. 0___0;; (Look at what happened in Lord of the Flies! Uninhabited Planet Survive has a much more optimistic turnout though).

Oh yeah, surviving (and not starving) is gonna be difficult like this.

The boys keep track of the days on the tree trunk. Ed eventually realizes something profound after biting Al and eating ants. All in all, their past was explained in one single episode. Kinda impressive...

Izumi immediately sees through that Ed's arm and leg are both automail and Al is an empty suit of armor. After telling her what happened, she hugs them and says, "You don't have to force yourself."

;___;

Because Al was all trying to act strong, showing her his book of lists he made of stuff he wants to do when he gets his body back. So yeah, when she hugged them, I felt that maybe Ed would shed a tear or two, but he managed to stay dry eyed. (Meanwhile, my throat was tightening)

Episode 13

After getting thrown out, Ed and Al come back and refuse to leave because they came to find a clue about getting their bodies back. Reluctantly, Izumi helps them brainstorm. Since Al's whole body got taken, that meant he might have even seen the whole Truth, much more than either Izumi or Ed, but he most likely just doesn't remember. But speaking of seeing the Truth...

Izumi and Ed's expressions immediately change. And they flail their arms. How do they expect anyone to understand that??? XDD Poor Al...

Meanwhile, Roy is about to transfer to Central with all his men.

Havoc: Oh, but I just got myself a new girlfriend!
Roy (right away): Break up.
Havoc: ;_____;

How merciless. XD;;

Scar, on the other hand, got saved by Ishvalans after his run-in with Lust and Gluttony (and gosh, he's already training after being so injured... look at that buff arm of his...). But it appears that someone betrayed him for bounty.

That someone is Yoki, who laments about the evil Elric brothers. (I seriously totally didn't remember who he was when he first showed up here since the entire Youswell part was not shown). I also completely thought he was going to get killed here.

Ahaha, look at Al. XD;

Al, while sweeping the floor, gets kidnapped by chimeras under Greed (who wants immortality, which means learning the secret behind how Al's soul got attached to the armor).

Al: But Sensei told me not to follow strangers.
Dolcetto: Just how old are you?
Al: 14.
Dolcetto: If you're 14, you should be able to make your own decisions. You can't be saying stuff like "Sensei taught me that" forever.
Al: I see! I have to make my own decisions!
Dolcetto: That's right! So come with us-
*Al kicks him in the face*
Al: I decided to tie you guys up and beat the secrets out of you.

(Ahahaha, violence is not the answer!)

Anyway, Greed tells Al that they're all chimeras. This pic shows us that one of them was part dog. (What a cute dog)

I always thought Greed was cool, especially with the way he puts things (how he wants everything, woman, money, fame, etc, etc).

He comments that Al's body is convenient. Ed gets furious. Izumi comes in and beats them both up.

Oh, and they finally learn about homunculi.

Episode 14

King Bradley comes with his troops and wipes Greed and his comrades out. Super duper bloody. D: Al is present for pretty much the whole thing. Greed is shocked that there's such a thing as an aging homunculus, even though he was always the one who said there was nothing impossible in this world.

Going against King Bradley must be one of the scariest things ever.

Al tries to save Martel, who was inside of Al to control his movements. She keeps yelling for Greed-san and then gets killed by Bradley, resulting in lots and lots of blood pouring out of Al's armor... I can't believe how traumatizing it must be feeling someone die within you. I so very wished for Martel to survive the first time around (this time, I knew she was going to do, so yeah...)

Al then remembers the Truth from this experience.

Episode 15

May's entrance into the series! I did not remember much of her from the manga (I only remembered Ling, haha...). But she grew on me a lot. And fast. Seems like she was saved by Yoki (I was surprised to see Yoki still around with Scar!) I love rag tag teams like this one!

And eeeee, Shao May! SO CUTE. SO BIZARRE. What was Scar trying to do when he reached for Shao May??

May's fantasy about Ed. PFFFT. HAHAHAHHAHAHA.

Little girls tagging along with supposedly bad guys who may or may not be all that bad... there's something sweet about that, I guess? With how the little girl shows us that maybe that bad guy isn't just that. Like with Rin and Sesshoumaru's case in Inuyasha.

While buying some stuff, Barry comes out of the shadows, only to get shot at by Riza.

*Barry takes off his head*
Riza: ... *shoots some more*
Barry: What's with your reaction????

This scene never fails to amuse me. So then, Roy has Barry under watch.

Ed: Al, did you pick up another cat...
Al: Yeah, Niisan. *shows him Ling*

THE MOST PROBLEMATIC STRAY EVER. Who always faints of hunger.

Ling tells his story about researching alchemy, searching through the ruins of Xerxes, etc. And oh look, a handkerchief with a panda. XD

His bodyguards get into a fight with Ed and Al after they refuse to help Ling out with the Philosopher's Stone. They destroy a bunch of property until Ed finally catches Lan Fan with a trap (using his automail arm) and Al catches Fu with the help of Paninya.

Uhhh, something about if Al gets his body back and is still taller than Ed, then his dignity as the older brother would be worthless. XD; Edddd, you pay too much attention to your height!

Ling: I'm actually a Prince. From Xing.

Ed&Al: A prince!??? Bwahahahahahaha!

Ed and Al, your imagination is so off...

Ling explains that he's actually only one of the princes, and to succeed the throne, he needs to find the secret to immortality.

Forgot what this one was about. XD; But I think Winry decided to go back with Ed and Al to Central after this to visit Gracia.

Episode 16

Hm, we have a fainted person over here!
What, you're from Xing?
Do you have papers?
Ling: !!!
You're an illegal alien then!

Bwahahaha. XDD

Someone needs to use the archives, Sheska does her darn best to stop her, saying it needs to be cleaned up. Turns out Roy fell asleep in there, looking up info.

(At this point, I was entertaining thoughts about fic of this happening more than once, haha)

Envy masquerades as one of Sheska's superiors and fishes out info about what Roy's doing. I was going, shoot, doesn't that mean they're busted? But I guess it didn't matter since they're all about keeping Roy alive.

He looks so tired and out of it. ):

And then Armstrong appears behind him. From the bathroom stall. XDDD (That would scare the heck out of me)

I don't believe bathrooms are all that private or safe for conversations, but so much important stuff seems to happen in the privacy of the bathrooms. XD;

Roy learns from Armstrong that Hughes was helping the Elric brothers research something, so that probably meant that Ed and Al would feel it was their fault.

Ed sees Riza and immediately things, oh no, that means he's here in Central too. Haha, Ed's reaction. So over the top. Though he's soon going to get a bomb dropped on him.

But oh, looks like Roy is unable to do it. Instead of telling them about Hughes' death, he tells them that Hughes went to the countryside. Ed and Al are sad they didn't get to say farewell.

Riza asks Roy about treating them like children in this kind of situation. Roy says he has no right to call Armstrong soft-hearted. Riza then says that it's not being soft-hearted. It's being cruel. (I agree with her. ;___; But it's cruel either way)

They run into Maria Ross, who thinks Ed and Al already heard about Hughes, but it turns out that they're talking about completely different things. Getting promoted two ranks for leaving the country!? Of course it didn't compute.

After finding out the truth, Ed and Al pay a visit to Gracia who tells them that they should continue on so that Hughes death wouldn't be in vain. Ed tells Gracia everything, about how Hughes was helping them, and probably learned more than he should. (I kind of felt scared for Gracia! Is telling her all this wise? What if she learned too much?)

Near the end of the episode, Maria Ross gets taken captive for "murdering" Hughes. Envy sets the plan for baiting Roy into action.

We also find out that Havoc's new girlfriend that he's been seeing is actually Lust.

Somehow, I feel like Lust stands out. A lot.

Episode 17

Ling. In prison. XD; For being an illegal alien. Pft.

Barry breaks into prison and gives Maria only two choices. Die on deathrow, or escape with him. Maria is SADDENED by her choices, but she chooses to escape. Barry sets Ling free on the way to help (not quite sure why he did that? he set him free after he was told he was from Xing. Did he think that made him impartial or possibly uninvolved with military corruptness?)

An order is given to shoot Maria Ross on sight. Barry has her escape down the alley. Roy is there at the end with a burst of flames. When Ed reaches the scene, there is only her charmed remains left (with her bracelet ID from prison). Roy stares with very cold eyes.

After Nox "identifies" the corpse as Maria, Armstrong bites out his "thanks" furiously, thanking Roy for stopping such a kind, beautiful, and loyal subordinate of his. Oh Armstrong. ;____;

Envy is super happy with how his plan went. That little devil.

Episode 18

Pft. Ed gets dragged across the desert by Armstrong for a reason unknown to either of them. They arrive at Xerxes, booted out by Roy to get them out of the way.

The above scene looks even funnier when you add the horses in.

Roy mentions there are "beauties" in the east. Turns out it was his hint for having hidden Maria Ross away. He thought it was easier having them see her with their own eyes. Ed and Armstrong are both super happy, and their opinion of Roy changes for the better.

This revelation sure was quick. XD; No time to be depressed about Maria Ross at all, or to feel shocked over Roy's actions (though I already knew they were all acting). They knew that the bullet shot by Maria was at Lab 5 when she shot at Barry. Barry even had proof with the bullet holes in his hand.

Maria Ross decides to depart for Xing. Or well, she really doesn't have a choice. Staying in the country is not safe at all.

I wondered if we'd ever get to see Xing. I really wanted to see Xing!

Meanwhile, Barry's body gets sent after Barry to smoke them out, and Havoc comes in dressed in black to hide his identity, but Falman uncovers him right away.

Barry reaaaally wants to chop his own body up.

And it turns out that the girl Roy was chatting with over the phone this entire time was Riza undercover.

The previews made it seem like Riza was going to meet a bad end courtesy of Gluttony.

Episode 19

So yeah. Riza almost gets eaten by Gluttony. Roy flies over after hearing weird stuff going on over the phone (he seriously got there in record time). Instead of thanking him right away, Riza scolds him for appearing in person. And then she thanks him.

They also both command their underlings, pft.

Barry chases his body into the lab outside of their orders, but Roy takes this chance and pretends that they're here to apprehend Barry. (Haha, look at Al's face). Shouldn't Havoc take off his disguise by now if he's now here with Roy to apprehend an escaped villain? He sure looks suspicious like this.

They split up. Roy and Havoc have a super tough time with Lust. Havoc = shocked over the fact that his girlfriend is a homunculus. Roy = understands why Havoc went after Lust (the big breasts).

I liked Lust quite a lot in the 2003 version. She had more of a past and made me feel sympathetic, but here, Lust doesn't seem to have much of a character past her deviousness. After dealing with Havoc and Roy, leaving them both in pools of blood, she taunts Riza about killing them.

Riza loses her senses. Al tries to protect her, but she refuses to leave.

And that's when Roy comes in. With Havoc's lighter. He was damn cool.

And man is his fire strong. He just stands there and keeps blasting his fire. And so, one homunculus is down. All this with Ed out of the picture. (Missing all the action, Ed!) But that's what I like about this rendition... lots of characters doing lots of stuff with all this stuff coming together in the end. *___* Ed and Al are still the main characters, but they discover things along with everyone else and are pretty much "key" characters but not the only characters who drive the series forward.

Episode 20

Episode 20 shows us Hohenheim for the first time. But so early in the series! :O He's still an enigma during this episode. Good guy? Bad guy? What in the world kept him away for so many years?

This scene is utter cuteness.

He tries to pat Ed on the head but stops himself before he does so. Ed is awake at the time.

Before he leaves, he takes the family photo that shows the four of them.

Hohenheim also gives Ed something to think about - is the thing that Ed and Al transmuted really their mother? Ed digs his mother up (after much vomiting) and measures the bones and all, only to discover that the hair color is wrong and the bones match that of a guy's. He calls his master. She takes another look at her baby that she tried to transmute and discovered that it was not her baby. Human transmutation was never possible in the first place.

Both of them were super unsettled by this, but I thought it'd give them closure and make them feel better since they didn't subject their loved ones towards a painful experience.

When Ed returns, he finds Al in a very bad state (they sure can never keep themselves out of trouble)! Ed tells Al about what he discovered. And also, he seems to have thought of something about Al's body.

XDD; I've been making a lot of typoes lately. I catch most of them, but it takes a couple of tries before I get the right spelling.

D: Hope the headache doesn't last!

I think I've read that Al in armour!form is seven or eight foot tall? *looks at Ed* Yeah. XDD

"When Sig Curtis sees them, he even pats Al on the head (gosh, you'd need to be reaaally tall to be able to do that), and comments about how much Al grew."
*snickers at all this*

"I was going to say she makes her "first" appearance, but then I remembered catching sight of Izumi and Sig in the episode when Winry arrived in Central"
:O Really? I don't think I saw them then.

Ahahaha! Sparkling bunny eyes!

"Because Al was all trying to act strong, showing her his book of lists he made of stuff he wants to do when he gets his body back."
Aaaaaaaaah! D:

"Izumi and Ed's expressions immediately change. And they flail their arms. How do they expect anyone to understand that??? XDD Poor Al..."
That bit was hilarious. XDD

"Ahaha, look at Al. XD;"
All is apparently a train, or something. XDD

"Al: I decided to tie you guys up and beat the secrets out of you."
X3 I loved this bit.

"She keeps yelling for Greed-san and then gets killed by Bradley, resulting in lots and lots of blood pouring out of Al's armor..."
Jeez, this bit, gah. D: I was like, 'I don't remember there being this much blood in the 2003 version!!'

"May's fantasy about Ed. PFFFT. HAHAHAHHAHAHA."
I knoooooooow! XDDD

"*Barry takes off his head*
Riza: ... *shoots some more*
Barry: What's with your reaction????"
XDD It's Riza - that's all you need to know, really. XDDD

"THE MOST PROBLEMATIC STRAY EVER. Who always faints of hunger."
AHAHAHAHAHA. XDD

"Forgot what this one was about. XD; But I think Winry decided to go back with Ed and Al to Central after this to visit Gracia."
Didn't she train under Gracia? Can't remember when she started.

"(That would scare the heck out of me)"
That would scare anyone. XDD

"I don't believe bathrooms are all that private or safe for conversations, but so much important stuff seems to happen in the privacy of the bathrooms. XD;"
*Looks at Sun and Judgement* Well, they're talking in code at least.

"Instead of telling them about Hughes' death, he tells them that Hughes went to the countryside. Ed and Al are sad they didn't get to say farewell."
;________;

"They run into Maria Ross, who thinks Ed and Al already heard about Hughes, but it turns out that they're talking about completely different things. Getting promoted two ranks for leaving the country!? Of course it didn't compute."
Argh... ;______;

"The above scene looks even funnier when you add the horses in."
Again, completely missed that Ed was there. XDD

"Meanwhile, Barry's body gets sent after Barry to smoke them out, and Havoc comes in dressed in black to hide his identity, but Falman uncovers him right away."
Oh, jeez, *laughs* Loved this bit! XDD

"Havoc = shocked over the fact that his girlfriend is a homunculus. Roy = understands why Havoc went after Lust (the big breasts)."
Ahahaha~~ XDDD

"He just stands there and keeps blasting his fire."
Yeeeeah. Jeez. o_____o

"I think sometimes I'm thinking ahead and end up typing that instead of what I'm trying to type at the moment..."
XDD I've been doing that a bit too. 'I need to remember that I want to say this bit too! [later, when reading it over] Why do I have one sentence suddenly leading right into another sentence? Where did the rest of my thoughts go?'

"But yesterday, gosh... my eyes were slits because I couldn't keep them open from the pain."
D: Ouch! Glad that it's gone now though.

"If Ed were taller than him, he'd be a very tall... stick."
*laughs* He would be! *checks out the stats* Al's 7'3/220cm tall.

Hee! to Izumi showing up at the station. :3

"I think I remember... a plunny way back about lists that Al made for things he wanted to do when he got his body back?"
*blink* *checks it up* I don't think so. I've probably said it somewhere else though. XD;;

"Hahaha, Ed and Izumi's attempt at explaining their experience with the Gate of Truth... their expressions were hilarious. XD"
It waaaas. XD

"What, Al, a train? XD"
Haha, aaaaand typo. XDD;;

"May's fantasy... Ed looks, hm, very... charming."
*laughs* There's rose petals! And sparkling! ...And a very long braid. Huh. XDD

"Winry was training under Mr. Garfield"
Ah, okay. :3

"Pft, Sun and Judgment take private meetings in bathrooms to a whole new level! And there's more to come for that. XDD"
Heeeeeee~! \o/ Can't wait to see! :D :D

"Roy's fire seems... a lot more powerful in this version? He is crazily strong!"
I don't think I can remember much about Roy's alchemy in the 2003 version, apart from when Ed was going through the...re-examination? There was a lot of explosions in one episode anyway.

I LMAO'd x 1,000 at that screenshot with frightenedYoki!, evilEd!, and laserbeamshootingoutofeyesAl!.

The part where Barry finds Riza is definitely one of my favorite parts of the FMA series. Partly because Roy Mustang gets EXTRA protective when Barry starts hitting on her.

I'd think I would be scared if Armstrong appeared behind me in a bathroom… complete with the epic sparks! XP

Havoc looks great in formal attire and roses. <3

The Barry/Falman interaction - hilarious. And then Havoc shows up in ninja-like attire which also leads to another part of the story I really enjoy - Homunculi Battle and the Chase after Lust.

i guess they're like, just quickly get through the stuff shown in the old anime haha. people saw it already.

i remember that hughes episodes had such a huge emotional impact when i watched it. i'm guessing it doesn't have that same weight?
