doujinshi I bought in Japan~

I spent the most money on doujinshi while in Japan. They really added up. I didn't have a single doujinshi before this. Now my collection has...exploded. They're still spread over my floor. My relatives were quite curious about what they were, so I found myself explaining about Comiket and doujinshi and all that. They were impressed with the whole notion (especially self printing). Good thing all of my doujinshi are quite safe for everyone. XD;; Some of these were bought at Comiket. Some were at used book shops.

Titles are given from top left to right.

Saiunkoku Monogatari

The four Tan Tan centric ones were mostly Tan Tan x Seiran with one Tan Tan x Seiga. They're printed with cheap binding, but the doujinshi was priced very cheaply too, so no complaints there~.

Wild Arms

The Wild Arms section at Comiket was small. I grabbed a few Wild Arms 4 ones. The only character I'm still interested in for the previous WA is Tim...but there was no Tim doujinshi. I wasn't expecting any. There were also doujinshi for Crossfire, but I haven't gotten very far with that game.

Phoenix Wright

I was mostly looking for rare pairings, Maya-centric, or Klavier-centric doujinshi. I managed to find one of Klavier x Phoenix, hehe. Super Star winter is focused on when Kristoph first meets Apollo. Beautiful, in depth doujinshi, though Kristoph is a bit morose in there and not at all like the smiley front he presents at the start of GS4. I wish I bought the others in the 4 koma parody (the one with chibi Kristoph in front). That one was funny. :D There were Gyakuten Kenji doujinshi about, but I didn't buy any.

I'm a major Hihara fan. XD;

The story was very touching! Kristoph is a bit...melancholic though. He thinks a lot in this doujinshi. He meets Apollo for the first time, who happens to have just gotten into an accident but didn't care about himself at all. Instead, he was trying to save a puppy. Kristoph spends most of the doujinshi thinking about himself and how someone can live like Apollo. He thinks a lot about the puppy too!

I can't believe Satoumizu has 47 books out!! I thought I must have gotten the majority of Satoumizu's books. Seems like I'm still missing a lot.

I miss Gyakuten Saiban too. I'm playing Edgeworth's game, but it hasn't been as fun so far.

I got around to the FE section near closing time, so a lot of the circles at Comiket were already cleaning up. There were a good number of circles there, which was nice! There weren't that many Bakuman circles, but the circles that were there generally had nice art.

Oh, that would have been interesting! But I don't think anyone has actually drawn those manga series that showed up in the manga.

105 VOLUMES. *dies* did I count that right I have no idea how much I spent on these. They ranged from 100 yen for thin ones all the way up to 1050 yen for thicker ones (and for ones from popular circles). They were mostly in the 400 to 600 yen range though.

So...quite a lot of money. ^^;;

Comiket was amazing though, especially since there were actually circles for lesser known series. Can't find doujinshi for those at the bookstores!

I'm thinking of going in Japan one day and really like amateur's productions (I don't know how to spell it in English)
Maybe I'll do like you (hoping so n_n ) but I'm a true innocent concerning the choice of doujinshi, how did you plan your purchase during the Comiket? (I read there's dedicated days for parody, yaoi, etc.) And outside the convention?
You brought 105 doujinshi? I'm curious about their weight xDD

I quite love my collection! It's fairly hard to acquire any doujinshi outside of Japan. Now my collection's not growing at all. :'(

Comiket is three days long. They have a catalog for sale a few weeks before the event. If you check out the catalog, you can figure out what series will be at each section. Even though I made notes about specific circles I wanted to visit, I actually ended up buying a lot of doujinshi from random circles that did doujinshi for series I liked. All the circles for the same series are generally together in the same section. Day 1 has a lot of Shounen titles (and shoujo, I think). Day 2 has a lot of game titles. Day three has more adult (like hentai and such). I'm not too sure how they're split up, but I just checked to see which days would have the series I liked. :3

Outside of the convention, there's doujinshi in Animate stores, Mandarake, and some other bookstores. If you visit Ikebukuro, they have lots of doujinshi shops closely together. The main Animate store is there. It's 8 stories tall. I found Nakano to have a large collection too. Mandarake's main store is there.

Was that how much I bought? XD; I stuffed all of them in a large duffel bag along with some clothes. I don't remember how heavy they were, but I do remember that the whole thing was well within the weight limit for luggage on flights. XD; So much less than 50 pounds. Maybe around...30 pounds? :'D It was really heavy to tote around though...since my duffel bag had no wheels. It was a pain to get onto the trains!

It's interesting to know that there is a catalog which is available before the convention! I'll make a note on it! So, do the author let you freely peek on their productions, I read that some covers are better than the comic =/

The catalog can be found in Animate stores and other anime stores. I only found the CD rom version though, which my computer couldn't read very well since it's made for Japanese systems. ^^;; You could probably find online versions too. Some authors don't mind that you peek at the inside of their works, though I don't think it's possible for the popular circles since they all have huge lines. XD;

If you can only go to one place, I suggest Ikebukuro since the stores are all fairly close to each other. :3
