I bought Apollo Justice on Wednesday but didn't have a chance to start until now. I've played that interactive flash demo of part of the first case before and wasn't all that interested in it then...but now I reaaaaally want to know what happened to Phoenix. >_>
On Apollo as the main character. Apollo's cute when he's thinking hard. He pushes his finger against his forehead and thinks HARD. XD Apollo's first case though...totally not run by him. And uh, his power to "perceive" is really weird. I'm not used to seeing "Justice" and thinking, oh yeah, that's the character I'm playing as. What a name.
Random quote!
"...the Cool Defense of the West..."
That totally reminds me of Detective Conan. Just swap the "Defense" out of that and replace with "detective" and viola!
Thoughts on Case 1
Apollo was great and all, but I was still more interested in what the heck happened to Phoenix. And, he's been playing poker games for 7 years and he's never lost one game! How is that possible?? He says he's able to watch his opponent's reaction and that poker's all about being able to tell what his opponent's thinking (and he got that skill from being an attorney) but still. PHOENIX. YOU SHOULD GAMBLE. YOU'D MAKE A LOT OF MONEY.
The witness Olga Orly...my first thought was "cute" when she appeared. Her shocked reaction had dishes flying in the air which she catches in an impressing balancing act. I found that neat. Haha, and like most witnesses, she has another side to her! Looks like a pirate to me! I didn't notice until it was pointed out in the game that her name was "O RLY." *facepalms*
I found the first case to be a lot more complicated then the previous games (what with examining evidence, pushing/turning furniture around) but the actual piecing together was easy. Because Phoenix did it all. a;ldjkf It was basically Phoenix's case!! But he certainly didn't feel like a defense attorney to me. More like a prosecutor. It was still awesome to see him behind the defense stand, presenting his crazy logic...darn, I want to play as Phoenix. ;__; Phoenix felt way different though. A lot more collected. More mysterious. So very sure of himself. Very smart. And quite self-deprecating. Reminds me of Edgeworth actually on that aspect.
I was wondering how Apollo was going to lose his mentor, since you know, having a mentor defeats all purposes of the game. I did not expect Gavin to be the killer. Damn, Phoenix is SMART. Just from those few words Gavin said to him over the phone, he already figured that something was wrong and basically figured everything out!
Kristoph Gavin. Waxing poetry and all. In his shocked reaction, plates rose off the ground. Haha, anti gravity skills! I think I saw some Super Saiyan parodies on this. But anyway, this smiling mentor of Apollo's sure turned icy after Phoenix started pointing his fingers at him. A defendant accusing his defense attorney of being the killer? Phoenix just pulls the most unexpected! The chilly interaction after that between the two was priceless. The defense turning on his own client...again, Phoenix was awfully smart to pull such an elaborate web to catch Kristoph.
Both Kristoph and Phoenix have been hinting about something that happened 7 years ago that caused Phoenix to leave. I'M VERY INTRIGUED NOW. But I bet I won't learn anything anytime soon.
;dlasdkfja And that magician girl Minuki who's named...Trucy in the English version? IS SHE REALLY HIS DAUGHTER? I-I just thought she was the new sidekick who probably didn't have much relationship with others. What's the timespan between this game and Phoenix Wright 3? Had it been long enough for Phoenix to have a 15 year old daughter? 0____0;; She seemed quite solemn when she was handing the 'evidence' to Apollo. I penned her as kind of cheerful. I wonder if it was just the situation her 'father' was in that made her so solemn.
Okay, what's this about forged evidence?
The idea of Apollo taking over Phoenix's office...without Phoenix there? I don't quite know what to think about it.
I want to learn so much more about Phoenix. D:
I wonder, for those who've never played any previous games who pick this game up, will they be less interested because this 'mystery' behind Phoenix doesn't really speak to them?
Even though I was playing as Apollo, the whole spotlight of the first case was Phoenix for me. I hope I don't find the next case less interesting if Phoenix happens not to be in it. I bet he isn't. DX

Date: 2008-02-24 01:23 am (UTC)Really quite exciting, yes. But I feel very inexperienced compared to everyone else. A lot of people are either student teaching already, or they're already teachers! This is most prominent in my Masters courses. But all the teachers are very friendly, so I don't feel too pressured. <3

Date: 2008-02-24 08:15 am (UTC)I feel inexperienced talking to you. I wish this semester goes by just as fast as winter break, though I wonder if I'll be ready to transfer. At least, I can't wait for orientation in April. Hopefully that'll calm my nerves a bit. I hear there's a center especially for teachers-to-be I really want to check out. *o*
