Top Three Favorite Moments
"We do!" said Hermione. She had sat up straight, her eyes bright. "We protest! And I'm hunted quite as much as any goblin or elf, Griphook! I'm a Mudblood!"

"Don't call yourself--" Ron muttered.

"Why shouldn't I?" said Hermione. "Mudblood, and proud of it!" (489)
I've been waiting for these very words since I don't know when. I got slightly teary-eyed at this!

"Hello, Minister!" bellowed Percy, sending a neat jinx straight at Thicknesse, who dropped his wand and clawed at the front of his robes, apparently in awful discomfort. "Did I mention I'm resigning?"

"You're joking, Perce!" shouted Fred...(636)
Percy, actually joking! Loved the banter between Percy and Fred...except, of course, that moment was totally ruined by what came later.

"NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!" (736)
I cheered so hard for Molly.

Other favorite moments:

"I...dunno," said Ron. "I...when I say we weren't close...I mean, I think he liked me..."

"You're being modest, Ron," said Hermione. "Dumbledore was very fond of you." (124)
*snorts* Oh Hermione. Stretching the truth a bit there?

He read the letter again, but could not take in any more meaning than he had done the first time, and was reduced to staring at the handwriting itself. She had made her "g"s the same way he did: He searched through the letter for every one of them, and each felt like a friendly little wave glimpsed from behind a veil. The letter was an incredible treasure, proof that Lily Potter had lived, really lived, that her warm hand had once moved across this parchment, tracing ink into these letters, these words, words about him, Harry, her son. (181)
I just loved the focus on the "g"s, how it was like a friendly wave from behind a 'veil.'

"What am I going to do?" Ron asked the other two at once; he looked stricken. "If I don't turn up, my wife--I mean, Cattermole's wife--" (244)
Ron can be so amusing at times. I think this blunder was a good thing...he certainly got into the role! While it was quite funny...it was serious at the same time since her fate was in his hands.

Luna had decorated her bedroom ceiling with five beautifully painted faces: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Neville. They were not moving as the portraits at Hogwarts moved, but there was a certain magic about them all the same: Harry thought they breathed. What appeared to be fine golden chains wove around the pictures, linking them together, but after examining them for a minute or so, Harry realized that the chains were actually one word, repeated a thousand times in golden ink: friends...friends...friends...

Harry felt a great rush of affection for Luna. (417)
I felt a great rush of affection for Luna too when I read this. (I also loved how easily she saw through Harry's disguise at the wedding.)

"How--how're we going to get in?" panted Ron. "I can--see the place--if we just had--Crookshanks again--"

"Crookshanks?" wheezed Hermione, bent double, clutching her chest. "Are you a wizard, or what?"

"Oh--right--yeah--" (651)
I loved this because Ron was asking Hermione the same question in Book One when she was struggling with the devil's snare. What a turn of events! Hermione's certainly grown to think like a witch.

But he was home. Hogwarts was the first and best home he had known. He and Voldemort and Snape, the abandoned boys, had all found home here...(697)
So well put. I love it.

Some more favorite moments, as it's getting a bit much to quote them all:

♥ Harry seeing the shadow of the wolf upon Remus's face. Remus can lose his temper after all. (213)
♥ Hermione shrieking "Merlin's pants!" and Ron's reply to that. (226)
♥ Harry, telling Ron that stuff always sounds cooler than it actually is (379)
♥ NEVILLE'S APPEARANCE. (570)
♥ Remus, showing Fleur the photo of Teddy to break the tension. So adorable. ;_; (605)
♥ Harry's diving to snatch the diadem. I was all going "YESS!!" when he did that. Finally, seeker abilities put to use!!! But uh, it was kind of useless since the fire already destroyed the Horcrux anyway. (633)
♥ Ron punching that DE for Draco. (645)
♥ Neville the snake-slayer!!!! So very brave. (733)

Some more musings on the book:

♠ I wondered, does having a different wand make certain spells easier? Harry used Imperio so easily on the goblin and Travers. I'm sure he never used it before. But then, it's probably because he really meant it. (Though I was thinking about how Draco used Imperio on Rosmerta for the entire school year...that must take some maintaining! And since it was his wand that Harry used...) (533)

♠ *snorts* Oh dear. Polyjuice potion tastes different depending on who they're disguising themselves as. That's kind of funny. Harry's potion apparently looks like it tastes nice (50) while Crabbe and Goyle's looked like bogies. Bellatrix tastes disgusting (523). I can see how fans will play with this! (I wonder if the taste has to do with how 'good' the person is?)

♠ I thought the "Snape-shaped hole in the window" (600) bit was a really funny description. *sigh* Snape was asking for Harry when he was speaking with McGonagall...I wish things had gone better then.

♠ The Gray Lady and the Bloody Baron. Ahaha, knew they had something to do with each other!

♠ If Draco hadn't been alive, did that mean that Narcissa would have given Harry away just like that? Well, it's a good thing Draco survived! (726)

XD lol, those are all good moments. Snape-shaped hole<3 that made me smile. ^__^ McGonigle(sp) and the teachers were really cool, I love how Rowling drew it back to Hogwarts for the final battle (that wasn't surprising though, but it was cool how they re-visited all the major places). I like how she threw in backstories for the ghosts at the last moment.

Awe, I didn't think that about Narcissa ~ but it was nice to see that the Malfoys loved and treasured their son the most.

Luna is really a wonderful character.

Rowling really has a lot of parallels and ironies throughout, that I really like. I think the comparisons are important... especially since she often talks about truth and choice, and she shows that even though they (Harry, Voldomort, Snape) all had similar backgrounds, they made very different choices that led to very different paths.

Ooo yes, that's my favorite line in the whole book, about Harry wanting the truth. Because a lot of people are like that ... it's really beautiful. I love the philosophies that Rowling slips in, things that children may not understand, but are very beautiful and deep.

The Malfoys were amusing ~ I'm glad they lived, it made the world feel more... normal, I think... I think Rowling wanted to show that not all Slytherins were bad.

Draco was actually a pretty good kid, he tried not to confirm Harry and Hermione's identities and he really cared about Crabb and Doyle, as friends and not just lackies. Though we already knew that after book 6 =) But showing that the Malfoys care about their son the most I think is very important. I liked that part a lot =D

"NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!"

I dunno, it was a mixture of love, rooting and sorrow I felt for Molly. I always felt a bit smothered by her, but then again, I couldn't have been more proud of her for fighting for her family.
