some HP favorites of mine that have accumulated over time...though it's sad that I don't remember half of my old favorites. Some are older, some are newer. Includes recs for Draco, Remus, Harry, and Neville-centric fics.

Draco-

A Mile of Revelations by FemmeFerret
summary: Follows HBP. The night of Dumbledore's death, Draco is given to Snape to mold into a better Death Eater. However, Snape instead abandons Draco at Number 4 Privet Drive. This is beginning of a most unlikely alliance. Harry/Draco

The Code by Aduro
summary: Takes place in an alternate sixth year. Draco has a secret: he is a wizarding genius and is being pressured to take the Dark Mark. Bill Weasley got a job teaching Ancient Runes at Hogwarts, but he too has a secret: he is spying for the Order. What happens when these two discover each others secrets? Can they help each other survive the year?
My notes:
It portrays a heart-warming brotherly relationship between Draco and Bill, of all people. Two chapters of the sequel are up too. Draco here reminds me of Artemis Fowl. Aduro's also written another fic called After the War in which a grown up Draco tries to save the economy of Britain. Not a topic I see too often in fanfiction.

A Speaking Likeness by Leni Jess
summary:
Draco gets out of Voldemort's clutches alive. Now he has to make sure life might be worth living. He seeks refuge with McGonagall, and goes under disguise to teach Occlumency to the Hogwarts students.

Once Upon a Thyme by zensho
summary: Draco and Hermione travel back in time and switch stations in life. Both learn tough lessons about family, honour and love.

The God of the Lost by Gravidy
summary: Lost, alone and wandless, Hermione and Draco rely on each other to survive. While back at Hogwarts a war is brewing between Slytherin and Gryffindor.
my notes: This one gives me the chills. I don't feel like they can make it out of there alive. They're stranded in a magical forest, where a "God" guides them in the wrong direction, deeper and deeper into the forest. At first, they try to rely on each other, but they end up turning against each other. This hasn't been updated for a while.

A thousand beautiful things by Duinn Fionn
Summary: Draco Malfoy struggles with changed fortunes, shifted alliances, an ugly war, and an unusual spell, with the help of a concerned professor, an insightful house-elf, and an unexpected Gryffindor friend. HP/DM

A Slytherin in Gryffindor Clothing by mahaliem
summary: Draco hits his head and wakes up in a world where he's a Gryffindor and Harry is a Slytherin.

Draco Malfoy the Amazing Dancing...Rat? by Maya

If You've a Ready Mind by Maya
My notes: Draco in Ravenclaw. Years 1-7.

Remus-

Release the Wolves by sarini
summary: Prequel to Unlocking Harry Potter and Finding the Key. What shaped Remus Lupin into the man that the thirteen year old Harry Potter met? Spans over twenty years. Multiple pairings, including SLASH.
my notes: this is probably my favorite portrayal of Remus ever.  Closing the Door, which is the sequel to Finding the Key, also has quite a bit of Remus in it. =) The 'Unlocking Harry Potter' series is a universe where Snape turns out to be one of Harry's parents.

Oblivious by Jess Pallas
summary:
What if there were more to Remus Lupin's bite than a badly timed stroll in the woods? Secrets emerge when a feral comes to town...
my notes:
Remus has a very loving father here, who gets focused on a lot. He even gets the spotlight for a few chapters, which was a bit disorienting, but other than that, the plot twists will keep you thinking.
and the sequel:
Imperius
summary: “Imperius…Werewolves…You Know Who…” The last words of a dying man force Remus Lupin into a dangerous investigation at the infamous Feral Institute.
my notes: romance between Remus and Tonks plays a more important role here. Remus's dad is faded into the background. More relatives are introduced. The Feral Institute is quite a chilling place.

Shifts by Fernwithy
summary: Remus's assignment during Harry's fifth year is to act as a guard on Dudley Dursley at Smeltings, posing as his history teacher. Nymphadora Tonks, posing as his wife (disguised and aged "appropriately") will make regular visits with his Wolfsbane Potion. Sirius is disturbed by the quiet at home, now that everyone except Remus is gone.
my notes: sequel is Shades, with more of a Tonks focus during HBP.

Practically Brothers by ReeratheRed
my notes: Remus and Severus comfort each other. Not slash. A series of funny oneshots. The two sequels are more serious. Snape considers suicide, Remus saves him, and a cure for werewolves is found, but with a cost.

Random Acts by mercutio-rane
summary: What's a momentary act of kindness to a werewolf? Quite a bit if you're the werewolf. Ten memories in chronological order featuring Lily, James, Sirius, Tonks, Minerva, Harry, Dumbledore, Molly, and Snape.
my notes: I also recommend the ongoing Of Blood, Fire, and Ice

Hunting the Traitor by FairyTale
summary: Would Harry's life have been better if he hadn't lived with the Dursleys? Seven year old Harry Potter's world collapses within the blink of an eye, and now it's up to Remus to hunt down the traitor responsible for it.

Disaster: See also, Remus J. Lupin, lovelife of by Lady Bracknell
summary: Remus claims that his lovelife has always been a disaster. He’s had vases thrown at him, made girls cry in public and done very reckless things in broom cupboards. Mostly Marauders, RLNT eventually.

Gazing by Myka
summary: Sirius takes an interest in a lonely Remus during their third year and decides he is to be the next Marauder, but James isn't too enthusiastic with the idea. AU. siriusxremus.

Beyond the Veil by Helene
summary: Trapped in a world where he can be neither seen nor heard, Sirius Black struggles to communicate to his friends that he may not be as dead as they think he is... and that something dreadful lurks beyond the veil.

To Kneel by Green Eyed Lady
summary: Not slash, merely the rocky and ill-fated (but still strangely satisfying) friendship of Severus Snape and Remus Lupin, fifth-to-seventh-year. No longer fits in completely with canon (at least, not OotP). Includes fencing, Slytherin politics, banter...
my notes: doesn't seem like it'll ever be finished, but I love it just as much as her other fic, Stepping About the Shadows.

Memories of Tomorrow/Dreams of Yesterday by Jedi Boadicea
summary: It's Harry's fifth year at Hogwarts, but he's not the only one with weighty matters on the mind. The story also focuses heavily on Sirius Black and Remus Lupin - will they be able to clear Sirius' name? The stories 'Job Hazards' and 'Dreamwalkers' serve as a prologue to this series, and Bill Weasley will also feature. New magic and old friends galore.

Harry-

Lost: Small Boy, Answers to Harry
Lost: Young Man, Answers to Harry
Lost: One Godson, Answers to Harry by Tawa bids you a good day
summary: AU. Sirius runs away with Harry upon discovering that Harry is one of the horcuxes. Voldemort cannot be killed unless all the horcuxes are destroyed, and that means Harry as well. With the ministry, Dumbledore, and the death eaters all after Harry, Sirius has no choice but to run.
my notes: it's a trilogy. I like the third one best. The captivity was described extremely well. I liked how information from book 6 was incorporated.

Time to Spare by EmySabath
summary:
Voldemort has a plan to catch Harry out of bounds and cast a spell to send him back two hundred years, but all does not go as planned and Harry isn't as gone as he'd thought...
my notes: A time travel fic, in wich Harry and Draco are both sent back to the Marauder's time, except in this fic, the laws of time are obeyed. There is no way for them to return to the future. Both of them must live those extra years...and Harry decides to become Voldemort's right hand man. He becomes closer to Snape than with the Marauders.

Broken Mind, Fractured Soul by SensiblyTainted
summary: What if there was a darker truth hidden in Harry's story? Summer before third year, Harry begins to question his memory blanks. What happens when he finds himself before Snape for help? [includes mentor Severus, MPD, child abuse, protective Remus]
my notes: Harry has multiple personality disorder. His separate personalities are extremely interesting, especially Silas the slytherin. Neville becomes like a brother, and Draco enters the picture later in the story.

Of Western Stars by neutral
summary: Sirius comes across a picture of Harry five years into his imprisonment, and decides to see his godson at all costs. But when he finds Harry neglected and abused, he makes a decision that entangles them both in more troubles than ever before
my notes: there are a few sequels/sidefics to this one as well. I read it so long ago that I don't quite remember though.

Resonance by GreenGecko
summary: Year six and Harry needs rescuing by Dumbledore and Snape. The resulting understanding between Harry and Snape is critical to destroying Voldemort and leads to an offer of adoption. Covers year seven and Auror training. Sequel is Revolution.
my notes: I also recommend Brighter Morning!

The Basement by Marz1
summary: AU third year. I must have a sign on my back that says psycho paths please attack me. I would not put it beyond Dudley to afix such a sign to me, but I doubt he could spell it accurately enough for a psycho to understand.

Neville-

Radishes and Turnips by Kerrymdb
summary: Neville Longbottom always seems to blend in with the crowd. Set during his sixth year, will he finally be able to stand out?
my notes: I like this fic in that it fits into a little universe that's revealed little by little through all of her fics combined. The sequel to this fic and the Tonks and Molly Weasley-focused fics give background for this one.

Becoming Neville by [profile] jedrita
summary: Neville's Gran breaks her hip just after his fifth year at Hogwarts, and he must spend the summer with Harry and Remus at No. 12 Grimmauld Place. He and Harry discover a hidden message in the candy wrappers Neville's mother has been giving him over the years, and they begin to uncover secrets about the past, even as they must confront dangers in the present. Along the way, Neville learns just how much he has in common with The Boy Who Lived, and how to be his own kind of hero.

General-

Erised - A Mysteries of Times by Tam Chronin
summary: Peter Pettigrew has died in his last year at Hogwarts, saving Snape's life! This isn't even the only thing wrong with the universe. Will they find out who is responsible, before the world as they know it is destroyed?
my notes: alternative universes collapsing into one. ;)
