Case 5
Was very happy to play as Apollo for the final case. I feel like the game was mostly advertised as Phoenix's game though, so it was a little unexpected just how much of the spotlight Apollo ended up getting. (makes me happy though XD;) I thought Phoenix would have the Khura'in cases and Apollo would have all the non Khura'in cases. Who knew Apollo would go over to Khura'in as well?
After AJ, I've always wanted to learn more about Apollo's background, and I've always wanted Apollo and Trucy to find out about each other and their mother. Dual Destinies completely skirted around the unresolved plot points from AJ. I'm pretty happy to see that thread picked up again in SoJ, though the background that Apollo did end up getting felt pretty out of left field. XD;;;; Never thought he'd have anything to do with a spiritual kingdom like Khura'in. But I guess that's the great part about characters with such blank backgrounds. Lots of possibilities.
It was fun going against Phoenix, though it was pretty obvious that Phoenix was being coerced, so that part felt a bit forced. A bit of a "been there, done that," but it was great seeing it from the other side. Never thought I'd see a civil case in Ace Attorney either. XD;
I liked the part with the cave, Apollo, and Dhurke. Made Dhurke a lot easier to relate to.
As for the rest in Khura'in, I feel like Nahyuta didn't live up to expectations. He was kind of just... there. He only really prosecuted three cases in this game, and the last one of them was the rakugo case, which really wasn't an exciting last case to see him prosecute. But as a character, I did like him.
I didn't think Inga would be killed. He seemed like he might have been the final culprit, but then he was taken out just like that.
Ga'ran. Man, Ga'ran. Her character design really screamed "villain." XD;; I was right that Amara was involved. After all this though, I do wonder what they think about Maya and Pearl, who have even more spiritual power than the royal family of Khura'in. (They could totally take over the kingdom).
The scene with Trucy and Edgeworth on the plane is super cute.
But what really got to me was Apollo staying behind in Khura'in. NOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooo. I get that the games are crowded with too many characters now (Klavier didn't even show up at all!), but, but... Apollo... I suppose this game does wrap up his story. I didn't think of Apollo Justice - Dual Destinies - Spirit of Justice as Apollo's trilogy because the stories don't connect as neatly as the original trilogy stories do, and Apollo is always sharing the games with Phoenix and Athena, but I guess it kind of was his trilogy. I've yet to finish the DLC case, but the way Apollo is absent from it is just sad...
I suppose it's no wonder that Apollo features so prominently in this game if it's his last swan song. (I dearly hope it isn't) And I dearly hope that there will be more Ace Attorney in the future, whatever shape it takes.
Next game I'm playing is Pokemon Moon. I know a bunch of people have finished, but I'm still plodding along at the beginning. :3;;; Chose Popplio as my starter. Didn't think I would when I first saw the designs. Grass-types are my favorite starters, and kittens usually appeal to me a lot more, so the other two starters seemed more to my liking. But after looking at their evolutions... Just no. No. I don't want a buff cat!
