Oh look it's not a fic post for once. I've been really bad at blogging and leaving comments. I actually don't have the next part of Bittersweet Sweetness done for this week because I haven't had too much alone time to write... D: So for anyone who's waiting for it... the wait will be a bit longer than usual.
Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! I got flooded by so many, both in person and online. ♥ Haha, it makes turning older feel marginally better (I don't want to turn older!!) As for gifts, Arc send me a really cool bone necklace that arrived with perfect timing. I also received cute art from gem2niki and Elphie. Rykatu in the first one, and Sun in the second one~ :D (Rykatu is so cute!). My brother bought me Minecraft and is bent on stealing what little free time I have. I bought myself a smartphone! Finally saying goodbye to my 4 year old phone! Quite exciting! I just received it today and still need to tinker around a lot more to figure my way around. If anyone has any suggestions for apps I should get, let me know. :D
I've watched quite a few movies with friends in these past few weeks~. Random movie talk under the cut!
Hunger Games
This sure spread like fire! Everyone's been talking about it. I quite enjoyed the movie and loved Peeta. Oh Peeta. I just adored how much he cared for Katniss and how he refused to be changed by the Games. His skill at painting cakes that led to expert skills at camouflage was awesome~. I completely fell for Peeta's charm, much like the audience he managed to captivate for the Games! But...throughout most of the movie, I felt like such a voyeur. The people in the Capitol view the Games as entertainment, and there I was, watching a fictional depiction of kids killing each other. I thought the situation was fairly close to what the people in the Capitol were doing. But I could not help feeling morbidly fascinated.
The bread scene in the movie made me feel like Katniss thought Peeta was cruel and cold-hearted, but the scene in the book came off differently when I read it (she was very grateful and didn't know how to behave around him and didn't want to be in his debt). But other than that, I thought the adaptation was fairly awesome. I read the book after I watched the movie, and I didn't feel like I didn't get the full experience just from only watching the movie. The movie really has all the essential parts down and done well.
I borrowed the second and third book afterward and finished those within one weekend, haha. Finished reading the trilogy! My favorite is the first book, followed by the second and then the third. Yeah. Chronologically like that. 1st and 2nd book have set structure with the Games, while the 3rd book breaks out of expectations and thus feels like it has less momentum for me. I teared up a bit reading the first book because the passages reminded me of what I saw on the big screen. And they were sad moments. ;____; Novel 2, it was Mags that did me in. I didn't like Finnick at first, but omg did I love him as Katniss got to know him better. Novel 3... I didn't enjoy as much. It's not very entertaining or easy to follow when the narrator is confused and also half drugged a majority of the time. A lot of the action also happened off scene. Too many people died. This series depresses me. ;___;
Avengers
Avengers, oh Avengers. I've been looking forward to this movie a ton! And like others have said, it's weird watching this movie when I've already read so much fic that are supposedly set during Avengers. XD; I worried that there were too many main characters, that there wouldn't be a cohesive movie, but my worries were unfounded. Everyone got quite a bit of the spotlight, and the characters were all amazing! I didn't think I'd like Bruce, but he was totally awesome in the movie and had awesome lines as well. Bruce and Tony got along smashingly well. I was amused when I came home and saw that a lot of people started pairing them up, hahaha.
I am totally into Avengers mostly for the sake of Loki. :3;;; I like the superheroes, but it's Loki who fascinates me the most (and Hiddleston is just so charming with black hair. XD;;; ) So this movie? Very awesome. Loki truly did end up going up against each and every one of the Avengers. I wondered how Loki would hold his own when he already had a hard time dealing with Thor by himself in the Thor movie! I imagine I probably watched the movie with a much different mindset than my friends because I was all "yay Loki! Loki's here!" He had a great amount of screen time. :) His scenes with Thor were so gooood. I wish they had another talk near the end. Loki vs Tony was hilarious. XD;; I laughed many times through the movie! (Steve and his bet~ ♥)
The silent scene with them eating shawarma after the credits was so hilarious. XD; (Such awkwaaaardness) I heard that sales of shawarma have spiked a lot recently. XDD What influence this movie has!
I came home and then I proceeded to reach a bunch of Avenger fic. Well actually, only fic about Loki. XD; I've read quite a bit of Loki fic but stopped for a few months, and now there's a whole bunch waiting for me to discover again! XD I like fic where one of the Avengers other than Thor get to know Loki~
Dark Shadows
Watched this last weekend. I didn't know what the movie was about going in. XDD A guy gets cursed into becoming a vampire and then sleeps for 2 centuries and wakes up in a modernish world. His only wish is to take care of his descendants, to keep the line going. I'm not too fond of vampires, but a vampire having to adapt to modern society after being asleep for many years? That I thought would be pretty interesting (just like what I enjoyed from the beginning parts of Noblesse). I was indeed amused when our protagonist woke up and didn't have a clue about many things such as McDonalds, paved roads, cars, etc. But sadly that wasn't the main point of the movie. :3;; Though he did talk in an outdated way for the entirety of the movie. XD; The movie had its humorous parts, but the killing put a damper on how much I was willing to forgive the main character. :3;; The ending was a little messy... Anyway, a mostly enjoyable movie. Vampires are still not my thing though. XDD
I've been meaning to ramble off about current anime I'm following this season, but I've mostly fallen 1~2 weeks behind every series. But here's what I'm following. No blurbs. I've been slapping random screencaps of stuff I'm watching all over tumblr if anyone's interested. :3;;
New this season: Eureka seveN AO, Kimi to Boku s2, Ginga e Kickoff!, Hiiro no Kakera, Kuroko no Basket, Uchuu Kyoudai
Started watching but haven't gotten far (maybe watching?): Shirokuma Cafe, Sakamichi no Apollon
Plan on checking out: Accel World
Continuing from previous season: Hunter x Hunter, SKET Dance
Maybe dropping: Area no Kishi (it hasn't been animated in a very interesting way...I'm super behind with the anime now.)
My need to finish list is still the same as previous season's. When will I ever finish watching those series...
Out of the new series, my favorite is Ginga e Kickoff at the moment! It's so cute and I look forward to new episodes a whole lot.
