I (very last minute) ended up going to Berkeley to see Miyazaki-sensei in person with gem2niki. :D We had awesome seats but didn't know and ended up going all the way to the balcony before we made our way down. The stage was so close that pictures would have turned out great, but the person who was on a look-out for cameras sat right behind me. They sure had a hard time stopping the cameras...the flash just kept going off.

Miyazaki-sensei's quite a humorous guy. There was this question about Disney that somehow led to how he wanted to make Totoro so that people couldn't tell if he were super smart, or if he were just plain stupid. He also wanted it to be difficult to tell where Totoro is looking at. X3;; When asked about how strong, young female protagonists are prominent in his movies, he started recounting how in the latest batch of animators that joined his studio, only 4 were guys, which led him to thinking how the focus of his movies might need some shifting. XD;

There were also a lot of questions about his newest movie Ponyo. Too bad I haven't seen it. Hm, I've only seen three of his movies...I guess I need to watch more. =P
