end of Penguin Revolution

...just finished reading Penguin Revolution. I knew it already ended, but I had no idea that the volume I bought was the last volume! The ending was pretty disappointing...Tsukuba Sakura's works seem to be like that. Wonderful in the process, but not so strong endings. Mekakushi no Kuni ended just like that too. >_>

I'd have liked more than just a panel about Yukari revealing her identity to the rest of Peacock. *sigh* And I'm generally not too fond of endings that jump into the future for the epilogue. It's too out there for me usually, though in the case of Penguin Revolution, it doesn't seem like much changed in ten years! Narazaki is still chasing after Yukari, and no one's in any relationship. Still, Yukari dressed in her office outfit and blocking Narazaki's attack was very cool looking. *___* Go Yukari!

Before the ending though, this volume rocked. Aya was so very cool looking with his black wings. *___* Hahaha, though Ryou is just getting more and more feminine.

Ryou's dad's last words to Yukari in the author's notes--

"Want to become the president of "Peacock"?"

Now that I'd have liked to see! There's still so much the manga could've touched upon, but I guess she finished what she wanted with the stage performance. It did come full circle, what with Ryou descending the stairs at the end, parallel to what Yukari saw ten years ago when she was younger. (And right after, we get another ten year skip into the future! Well, that's parallelism for sure!) I hope Ryou got more jobs for male roles after this though. XD;;

I thought that the Narazaki side chapter might be included in one of the volumes, but the series already ended and it wasn't included! Does this mean I'll never have a hard copy of that chapter since it isn't like I'll ever buy the magazine it ran in?! DX

I wish Kinokuniya had Yoroshiku Master. I really want to read the second volume. I'm dying for more Tsukuba Sakura stuff...her artwork is so cute. Another than Kinokuniya, I have no idea where else I can buy manga in Japanese. ): I hope she starts a new series soon.

Let me add on to the blurb you can find in the link above:

Yukari can see wings on a person's back if that person has an aptitude for becoming a star. And the more talented that person is, the brighter and bigger the wings get. When she first meets Ryou, his wings are tiny, like a penguin who can't fly yet. Since she discovered his secret and had no where to stay herself, Ryou suggests that she become his manager, and together they strive for the top of Peacock, the company that Ryou works for. In Peacock, there are three levels--the best stars are the Peacocks, the next level are the Crows, and at the very bottom are the Penguins. Ryou starts out as a penguin and his goal is the top.

There's lots of crossdressing involved, secret disguises, guys falling for Yukari without knowing that she's actually a girl...besides all that, I really like the art. It's simple and clean and very cute. The way the mangaka does blushing is very adorable. X3

Lucathia~!!! <3<3<3 ^__^ We've come up with a date for Rikkaidai photoshoot :D Is Friday good?

Basically, once we (c.c. and I) drive up from LA and reach the hotel, c.c.'s going to start working on Jackal wig, which may take a while, because she has to use make-up to get the skin color right. But we still want a good two hours to take photos before sunset. :3

But yes! You are our most awesomeness Kirihara<3<3<3 Hopefully we'll manage to get everyone. ^__^

:D Oooo, c.c. was wondering how you're planning to do the 'Rs' on it. She sort of just eyeballed something for the collar OTL though personally, I would suggest getting a pattern ^^; collars are complicated D: ...

Hm, well, we're going for Regulars outfits (I was thinking of switching between Regulars and pjs), though c.c. is interested in doing school uniform, we don't have any plans for it.

Maybe if all goes well and people are interested in doing it again we could plan school uniform version. :D

For the R's on my jacket, I used iron ons. Printed a bunch of R's out and then I cut them out and ironed them on a white ribbon. It took a long time...and I'm kind of afraid of washing it. >_> I might do the same for the short-sleeved, or I might...embroider those (like what I did for the logo in front) since there's a lot less R's than on the jacket. I'd die if I embroidered all of those R's on the jacket. Way too time consuming!

Does the back of the short-sleeved have "Rikkai" across it too? I don't remember. :3

School uniform would be neat. XD I've been glancing at ties at shops, but I haven't seen any that would fit exactly. I wonder how a homemade tie would turn out.

Mmm the best way would be whole sale at fashion district :D I think you have to buy like, a minimum of 6 at once but that would be ideal nee?

I started on my Rikkai jacket as practice, but I ended up finishing it anyways. It's the first thing I've made from scratch! It turned out a little tight though, and the sleeves are a bit too long. The two sides aren't equal either! DX Hm, if there's no Rikkai on the back of the t-shirt, that'll make things a little easier for me.

Fashion district? I've never been there before. :3
