drawings of original characters back from 2000

These are characters I created back when I was well, younger. [WARNING: LONG POST!!!] I drew most of these around...seven years ago. Consider yourself warned. X3;; Some of the drawings are newer...I wonder if you can tell. I don't think I improved actually. But since I drew these at different periods of time, the style varies from drawing to drawing. And I keep wavering on how I want to make the characters look.





This is a later drawing actually (probably done four years ago rather than seven X3;;), but I thought I'd put it up at top to get you familiarized with all the characters since this is the only all cast pic I ever drew. Sadly it's in chibi form. X3;

From left to right: Lucathia, Nikaya, Felinay, Felidae, Rykatu, Ikatchi, Kitkatsune, Cathe, and lastly Tekatme.

And now onto individual drawings. X3;


Lucathia, the boring main character. I never figured out what her power was. [Power: Unknown.] But anyway, she's the main character and somehow all the rest of the characters end up around her.
(Er, yeah. This doesn't look like the chibi version. I could never decide. And yes, this one dates back to the year 2000.)


Bwahaha, I thought I'd do those cool er, drafts where you get to see the character from various angles. I don't know what she's wearing. XD;


Still the same character. Anyway, I need to think of a new name for her since I don't want her to be named Lucathia anymore. Lucathia's my name now!!

Nikaya, the pretty songster. Supposedly, she's very pretty, but you can't tell from my drawing. She has long pink hair that she ties in a loose ponytail. [Power: her voice.]

Felinay/Felidae/???, the goddess with three forms. She's a goddess who appears in front of the main character in child form. [Power: dimension travel (among other things)] I've never named her last form.

This was supposed to be the draft of her, but I never drew how she looks from the back.


Some more random drawings of her...and other random people. Don't know who they're supposed to be. Felinay is totally the loli of this universe.

Rykatu, the dragon halfblood. He's supposedly the "cool" main guy character who's kind of effeminate. [Power: ice]


An older drawing of him. One of the first. Looks way different.


Another drawing, and yet again he looks different. >_> This one is newer...hm. He's too smug in this. He's supposed to be more aloof and uncaring. (I believe I copied this pose from a Disgaea pic)

Ikatchi, the outcast. Well, he's smart. And fast. And an outcast. [Power: speed]


My drawings of him make him look like a girl. -_-;;


Ooo, potential for angst.


His clothes is kind of weird. I decided that the plant thingie will be his special symbol. Everyone's going to have a special symbol. *nods*

Kitkatsune, the shape-shifter. Lucathia's mentor in her abilities. No one has seen his true appearance. He's older than he looks. [Power: shapeshifting]


A drawing of him shape-shifted. He uses the alias "Cathe" while in that form.


Next...


Tekatme, the hotblooded youth. Er, he was the last character I designed, so I really don't have much background on him. But hey, this means slightly newer drawings. [Power: fire]


What are you doing with that whip-like thing?? XP

Lastly, some drawings of everyone together.



Forgive me while I X out Nikaya's face. I don't like how it looked. This dates back to 2000. So old...Anyway, Ikatchi and Nikaya in the back, Rykatu, Lucathia, and Felinay in the front. I never finished this drawing.



Same cast as the one in the last drawing, with the addition of Kitkatsune in the lower right. Tekatme is not in this again...I hadn't figured out how I wanted him to look yet then.

Dang, this was a long post. I actually...drew a lot more of these characters than I thought I did. ^^;;

My brother tried to drag me into playing Diablo once...I remember I had enough names to name all seven of the different types you could choose from. XD;; When I play RPGs and stuff and have to name the characters I'm using, I usually end up using one of these names. X3;;

Hm, I think I just got sketchier with my drawings. Not exactly improvement. XD;;

xDDD i usually like keeping the default names whenever i play--otherwise i just use the names of other game characters. xD (i think i usually used chrono trigger names. ♥) though i did name the farmer in my last harvest moon game after my own oc... xDD;

sketchier improvement is still improvement! :nods: :D


yes...except i was dragged to my family's house today for like 6 hours, 2 and a half of which were spent IN TRAFFIC. so it might take a little while. xDD;;

Yeah, usually when the characters have default names, I leave it like that. X3; But when they don't, I use one of these character's names depending on what the game character's like. XD;; (Hee, Chrono Trigger!!! ♥)

Aww, traffic's no fun. But whenever you have time. ♥ I feel like sketching newer pics now too. XD;;

No no no!! Even though these are super old drawings and I don't really draw the same anymore, I can't say I've improved at all. ;_; I drew so much less later on...if I drew continuously for the past seven years, then maybe I'd be at a pretty good level now, but I haven't much at all. Sad. ):

Ahaha, no way I'd be in the artist alley selling artwork. But I'll probably be there hanging around gem2niki's art table, though AX's artist alley is kind of cramped, so I probably won't be hanging around her table as much as I was at Fanime. ^^;;

Me too. I'm very conscious when I'm surrounded by all those art people in the artist alley, especially since their way of greeting is asking you what your devart account is. XD; (unlike the Tenipuri gathering where we were all exchanging lj names. XD;; ) I have nothing to show at my devart. It's sadly neglected.

AX is this week!!! I'm leaving for Long Beach on Thursday, so this means I have to finish everything by Wednesday!!!

There's this one guy who goes around asking for commissions for the same two characters from everyone he asks for commissions! He has a binder dedicated to it. :O (I can imagine you doing that with Inukai. XDDD All those different styles for them...Hee.)

I sort of pronounce my username weirdly. The "cath" part...lots of people pronounce the "a" like in "cane" but I pronounce it like the "a" in "cat" since that's part of where the username comes from. X3;;
