AX '06 summary

My super long con report is here.

Here's the summary:
-set at at 5 A.M. the first day without sleeping and still missed the D.Gray-man gathering
-got transferred hotels to one that was super far away
-waiting in line and more waiting in line
-missed all the panels. Did not see Paku Romi. Did not see CLAMP.
-artist alley=cramped
-badges kept falling off
-Dealer's room=HUGE
-got sick on day of PoT gathering
-met disutansu (yay!)
-masquerade=smooth operation, line=BOO, fever=DIZZY
-could not see a darn thing during masquerade because was sitting behind sound system
-liked the FF6, Yakitate Japan, and Nintendo skits the best.
-did not see most of the AMVs
-had to leave early on Tuesday
-took very little pictures

But I still took a few pics. Mostly of the PoT gathering, because I didn't have gloves then! Having gloves makes a camera hard to manage. I only chased after two cosplayers (yay for restraint ^^;;), the Niou one and the Kaitou Kid one. ^_^


Prince of Tennis

I chased after Niou on Sunday. ^_^ Good that I did that, since Niou didn't appear at the PoT gathering!

(Perhaps Yagyuu's glasses were stolen?!)

Woke up with a sore throat on Monday, but I managed to drag myself out of bed to go to the PoT gathering. It was worth it, though none of the people in my group went with me, so I had to ask other people to take pics for me, which didn't work out too well. In the end, I took pictures of other cosplayers for myself~ I just wasn't in the photos. :3

I didn't have a red racket, only a blue one. My brother's is purple. But perhaps, I could have brought our wooden one just to look cool. It'd have been like the time Ryoma was forced to play with that horrible racket in one of the beginning episodes.

I bought three t-shirts (two Disgaea of the prinnies, one Fruits Basket of Kyo) and two Disgaea cellphone straps. Came along with a Disgaea 2 promo disc. One of the Disgaea shirts is for my brother's friend.


My plushies included Puu from YYH, Chopper, Kon, Sena, and that scarecrow guy from Howl's moving castle. I couldn't not buy Sena! I saw so little ES21 merchandise there. They even had the Devil Bat, but I didn't buy him. ^^;;


Buying Harry Potter pins at an anime convention makes me feel weird. XD;;


And, just because it's Hanatarou. Negima for my brother.

I cut my hair short for cosplay once...to be Riku from DNAngel and Touya Akira from Hikaru no Go. Both of them had similar hairstyles!

Ah only four Suikoden cosplayers in the meet?? Sad...I'm tempted to dress up as Bocchan (SI) or Riou (SII) eheh. Sushi can be my Jowy and Lily my Nanami and you, Viki since your cosplay is already made. XD

Heh, but if you go as SII, I'd make another outfit for Viki from SII. My other one just sucks. I think I sew slightly better now. XD;; The shoes, I'd still wear the same ones. But yes, you three would fit those roles really well!

Exhibition Hall was much larger this year than last year. Usually they kept it to one room but it expanded to two rooms. @_@ I was surprised. Line waiting is typical... line waiting for HOURS that is. XD;; On Saturday my bro and I waited 2 and 1/2 hours for exhibition hall. >.o Almost all the badges are lame like that this year. Mine fell off so I stuffed it in my pocket. XD;; And I didn't see any of the panels either... I only went to see AX Idol. Just wow. *o*

Oh Niou, why weren't you at the gathering. We needed a Rikkaidai representative!! And wow seeing myself is randomly weird. XDDD I wondered why Kaidoh randomly fell over. INUI, HOW COULD YOU!? *DIES* AND OMG IT'S THE SENA PLUSHIE I SAW!!! It was so cute. And there was a Hiruma plushie too. Ahh... *paws*

Exhibition Hall was huge! (I call it dealer's room. XD;; Got used to it from Fanime, I guess) It made me so tired, looking through everything. I probably should have gone later...there wasn't a line in the afternoon. Only in the morning. D=

I didn't go to AX Idol either. Is that...one of the main events? What actually goes on there?

I tried looking for you during the convention, but alas, too many people. I could only spot you once the PoT gathering got together, and then, you appeared! XD;; Like a real spy!

My friend's sister tied the badges for us later so that they never fell off again. :3 Good thinking. :DD

I'm glad I went chasing after Niou. Had no idea that Niou wouldn't appear at the gathering! I thought at least I'd see some yellow amongst all that blue and white...

Inui + death note = Teh Scary.

What! There was a HIRUMA plushie?? I so did not see it. D= I only saw Sena and the devil bat and a es21 football. =(

I hear it in many different ways but I usually call it "Exhibit Hall". Or place where you spend uber lots of money. XD Usually there is a line before it opens, because people want to get in there first. Other than that, they just let people walk it. ^^

And heck there was a lot of people. I did see the male Kaidoh about 8 times while walking around though. XD And yus! *Spy!Inui wins*

There are always some people who can't make it to the gathering. So take all the pics you can! ^^

There was that one parody comic. Oh god, poor Kaidoh why do you always have to die!?

I would go for a Shin plushie if they made one. XD Shiiiiiiiiiiiin~saaaaaaaaaaaan!!!

Yeah, I wanted to go there in the morning, and then wander around in the afternoon. I guess most people sort of had the same plans. It was the first place I wanted to check out after getting my badge.

Hehe, yeah, I kept seeing that one Kaidoh cosplayer, the one with the out-of-place green bandana.

Mm, I didn't even know that there were such things as cosplay gatherings until this year. And to think that I've been going to anime conventions (well, at least Fanime) for the past 6 years...

A parody comic? Of Death Note x PoT? Or of Kaidoh dying? ^^;;

Oh well, a Sena plushie is enough to satisfy my ES21 fangirling for now. I'd have liked one in a normal school uniform though.

I'm sure Fanime has its own gatherings too. You should check cosplay.com and see. ^^ They usually post in the forums around con time and finalize the list before it begins.

Yeah...there was this one pencil board that I wanted that was already sold out. >_> For the artist alley too. There was something that I wanted...but they only had their own copy on display and the rest was sold out. But eh, for Fanime, I usually wait until the last day to see if they have any sales. >D

There's much less gatherings at Fanime. The gatherings are smaller too (from what I know of this year), so we even had a "shonen jump" gathering to squeeze everyone into the same gathering. :3 I don't remember if there was a tenipuri gathering though.

No, I think I missed it! OMG, POOR KAIDOH. (but his little ghost/spirit is awfully cute)

Sou ne... I wanted to spend lots on the artist alley for anything Inui or Kaidoh but woe... I didn't want to spend any more money. XD;;

He was actually pretty good-looking. Ah, I know the scan sucks. XD From a disposable camera and I scanned the pic. I should do a higher quality scan... sometime.

And yes omg!! Inui, how could you!? ;-; *squishes Kaidoh's ghost/spirit* I wonder if he'd scare himself. XD;; Since he's afraid of the paranormal.

Let's see...badge was $45, hotel I paid around $60 (split between 4 people for 3 nights), gas fee (I have no idea how much that was!), and around $40 on food. But of course, you're not interested in that. XD;;

Merchandise! Eh, I spent around $150 on that little bit of merchandise. D= So very overpriced! Wow, I spent a lot during this trip! ^^;;

Niou was the only one I saw...;___; Rikkaidai needs more love (Yukimura needs love <3). Rival schools (except Hyotei) need more cosplay love. ^___^

Next time, I'm going to either try to cosplay Kirihara or Marui. But wah, I'm too short to look convincing as one of them.

There was at least one booth selling the paddles - and I quote, $35 for one, $60 for two. I guess they're pretty good quality paddles, yeah? ^^;
