I'm back from AX~. I finished making my cosplay of Grisia! (sort of!) I did what I could and had to skip out on embroidering his sun emblem, adding the ruffles on his sleeves, and altering the boots. I didn't sleep at all on Tuesday to finish the cosplay. I still didn't manage to finish, so I brought a box of supplies with me to keep sewing at the convention. :'D; I sewed the buttons, armor pieces, and wings on while in the hotel room. It was hard to find time to sew because it was always pitch black in the hotel room after everyone went to sleep. T__T; Only wore the cosplay for a day... and it was the first time I even put the finished cosplay on, so I didn't have time to make fixes for anything that looked weird or didn't work. XD I'll fix the cosplay up and wear it again next year at Fanime~.
Will (try to) post about AX and cosplay progress pics in more detail. Anime Expo had even more attendees this year. So crowded! I'm glad the lines were managed much better this year. Registration went very smoothly with the new system. Another new thing was the tents set up outside. Finally, less lining up under the sun. Despite the crowd, I met most of everyone I wanted to talk to (quite randomly), even if only for a bit!

Here's a funny pic of my inaccurate cosplay. =P There were these cool lights on the hotel wall. XD They made for some funny, photoshop like effects! (I laughed my head off at how these pictures turned out XDDD No photoshop is involved with that light!)
I don't like how most of the other pics turned out since I had these taken at the end of the day when my wig was already starting to slip off and my make up was a mess, but I'll see if I can find any that look okay. XD

Date: 2015-07-11 03:16 am (UTC)I'm home already, so the pics I have are what I have. XD; I did have some pics taken of the back, but I'm not sure if any turned out nice... Well, I should at least be able to find one pic where we can see the wings...!!
My hotel was under construction. O___o It was pretty ugly and inconvenient! Only two functioning elevators. I took some pics anyway. The stairway was totally a horror movie candidate. Thankfully, I was only on the 4th floor and no higher, so I could take the stairs down. The wait for the elevators was a nightmare. T___T We couldn't take the stairs up though because the door to the stairs is locked from the outside.

Date: 2015-07-13 06:31 pm (UTC)Our suffering last year finally brought about change! I hope they keep the line tents for next year too. They really make a difference.

Date: 2015-07-13 09:51 pm (UTC)Being Daichi (black hair + black uniform) using a black coat to shield the sun was mega intense. But we survived \o/ I'm really sort of surprised they didn't have tents the other years...
My adventures in sewing... err... watching my band parent sew today...
When Ren's vest collar was sewn together with stiffener, I was staring at it like "Umm... won't the stiffener show?" and THEN she inverted it inside-out to form a nice looking collar, my mind was blown lol. My band parent is so sweet - she laughs at my ineptness at sewing and then explains things so patiently. I'm visiting her again Thursday to hopefully finish this vest and to change the button alignment on Shokudaikiri's coat. Quidditch guards will have to be another day - all that is left is the sewing part - stuffing it with batting - and then attaching the belts, which I can do :)

Date: 2015-07-13 10:48 pm (UTC)I think if they held another event like the movie screening, it would be ticketed and cost some money to attend. They're trying to deal with the increasing crowd and eliminate lines like the one we were in. It does also mean paying more money...
Stiffener! I probably should have used something like that for my collar, but I didn't have anything like that at home. I wonder if it's too late now... I don't really feel like taking the collar apart, but I do need to fix how it looks.
Wow, really nice of her! And that sounds like a great learning experience. I watched a bunch of youtube videos to figure out how to make sleeves. XD
