The book has arrived!

I'm back from AX! It was very tiring, but mostly because I killed my feet with my boots. Should've bought new boots for the cosplay! Each step was agony! I felt much better on Saturday and Sunday when I was cosplaying wearing tennis shoes. People did at least recognize Tsukito. Most of the comments were "Eee, Tsukito! How cute~" |D;; Suga was of course very recognizable. Overall, it was an okay convention, though organization really fell apart. I did manage to do most of what I wanted to do though, including going to the K Project movie premiere, Morita Masakazu's panel, the screening of Free!! episodes 1 to 2, and the replay Symphony. Post to come (unless I end up not posting like last year, ahahaha. Pics of me are mostly on other people's cameras, so I'm waiting for pics!)

When I got home at midnight after the convention ended, my book was waiting for me on my desk! \o\ It turned out fairly well, but there are some things I need to fix. Anyway, pics~~~

Here's how the book compares with some other books! The dimensions of this book = 5.06" x 7.81". I was hoping to make it the same size as my other books, but nothing quite fit. Anyway, I chose the smallest size available. It is slightly smaller than my edition of Legend of Sun Knight, both width and length wise, while it is larger than my Japanese manga and my English paperbacks. I didn't compare it with my English manga in this photo, but that was another size I was hoping I could match if none of these worked out. (That one didn't work out either). As for the thickness, you can see here that this fanfic anthology is thicker than actual volumes of LSK, haha...

Since some people have expressed interest in getting a copy too, I'd like to know for sure how many people want a copy! These are printed on demand, so you don't exactly have to order right away, but it will be more convenient for me to order in a batch~.

(ETA: Oh wow! Since more people than I thought have filled out the form, I should be able to order all of these in a batch, which will lower the cost of the book a bit for everyone! Yay! This means, if you "pre-order" and make it in time with this order, the cost should be lower! Possibly around $10 if no one ends up changing their minds! Not a big discount, but at least it's something! After this batch, you will definitely have to pay the full $12 price instead.)

Fill out this form to let me know your intent on buying a copy! I wish I could give everyone a copy for free, but it does take money to print and ship. The form has more information about costs... (International shipping is expensive. Probably a deal breaker for most! Arrrggghhhh why is shipping so expensive...) Again, the money will go towards manufacturing, shipping, and handling fees. This is not for profit.

(When the books are actually ready, I might set up a google forms for orders, or open a storenvy... Storenvy seems much too official for this endeavor though. I will probably end up doing this by email if not a lot of people want copies. I'm assuming this will be the case. |D;;). I'm just asking about intent to buy right now. You're not actually buying anything at the moment. I will be making some edits to the book and will need to wait for my 2nd proof to arrive before I actually order more~. The time frame for when books can be ordered is probably mid to late July, and books will ship out late July/early August. I printed my proof copy on a matte cover. I wonder if I should try the glossy cover too... Matte cover is nice, but it's so easy to leave fingerprints on it. :'D

Ahaha, I don't think I have any two paperback books which are not from the same series but still the same size (not counting mangas, of course). Their sizing is usually all over the place. Just take a look at my workplace's storage for single books we sell off on amazon and your only worry will be if it's a reasonable size to fit into these cardbox wrapping envelope things instead of a ridiculously large box-- xD;;;

I personally prefer matte covers over glossy tbh- I think glossy covers collect fingerprints just as well. But hey! Since you're going to get another proof copy anyway, you could just try out glossy and compare in the flesh which you like better c:

I giggled a ton over Georgo. this is totally how Grisia views him Chikus though. So so cute. Novel style, but more grown up looking! He looks so energetic~~~.

Ahahaha. Sweetness Mixed with Dread is totally a super duper short drabble, but I pretty much put in all of my complete LSK fanfics! In chronological order (just with Bittersweet Sweetness at the front). LOL yes, even the random click and drag generator fic is in there too. XDDD;; The book turned out fairly thick... If it were a bit thinner, it might have helped with shipping costs a bit... and the price of the book itself. ): (GAAAAH SHIPPING WHY ARE YOU SO EXPENSIVE. I'm not even making a profit, and the price is this ridiculous.)

I suppose this is why people print in bulk instead of on demand. If I could've lowered the cost of the book itself, that would probably have helped! (But there's no way I could print this in bulk, and there are still exchange fees, paypal fees, and credit card fees to consider OTL) This has been a fascinating foray into printing. :'D

This should hopefully be the high end of possible costs you'd need to pay! I'm going to try to see if there's anyway I can lower any part of the cost. (Like, maybe I can find a super small and light box that will make the package much lighter or something, ahahah. Just a one ounce difference would lower the price by at least $2 because it's the next bracket down)

Ahhhhhhh, I really wish books were more uniform! Most of my books drive me crazy because I can't fit them on the same shelf!! So I don't. My shelves are sized for Japanese manga... They fit perfectly on their shelves in neat rows. =x The light novels too. I guess larger shelves would help and I could then put any sized books on them, but I have so many that my shelves really need to be fitted to the books so I can put more on them. |D;; My collection of Yu Wo books were scattered all over the place until I cleaned out one of my other shelves to place them all in one place. They're kind of all these different sizes. =x (But at least now I have a corner just for Yu Wo stuff, including the manhua editions... Problem is they don't fit on the shelf anymore either because there are too many, ahhhhhh. I need a second row....)

I was totally bored while you were away~~ No stuff to babble about and no cake to screech over~~ IRL was pretty uneventful too xD (also, half my other contacts were either at AX too or at a german con that was this weekend but I didn't attend)
I went to rereading LSK fics that were not written by you and got struck by that one short Searching for Roland inspired one, which in combination with this fanmade MLP song made me sad for three days straight and ended in drawing, and I even started a short fanfic that actually ended up being Adair's POV?! I'm so easy to influence, ahaha |D;;; (How do you dare leave me alone~~~ I mean, I hope you had fun xD)

Chikus looks so fluffyyyyyy even though it's hard to see on the tiny photo and he's way in the back. But they all look so good! <3

Don't worry, I'm used to ridiculous shipping fees by now =u=b *buys more stuff from all over the world than from local stores lately, not counting groceries and pet stuff* Also, the base price for the book is pretty much on par with book store prices for paperbacks of comparable size. 12$ are about 9€, wich is the same as this one random paperbook I tend to accidently sit on yet still haven't started reading, and a euro below my Neverwinter volumes-
(Also, I'll take all the fics I can get, huehuehue. You put so much efford into all of this, I want them alllllllll~~~~~)

As for boxes, can't you just make one yourself? I don't know your postal rules, but in Germany you can send pretty much anythings as long as it sticks together securely enough... so I could just wrap cardboard around and tape everything together with fifteen layers of duck tape and send it |D (the post people might get annoyed but technically it's allowed) With how much tape I'm often using at work you can't really see if it's an actual box or lose pieces taped together in the end... *coughs*

Aaaah, I know that! The shelf I had when I was younger was high enough to pretty much stuff anything in, but mangas could be perfectly stacked in two rows on the same shelf while everything else could not... It was quite annoying |D Now, my flat is super tiny and with two cages and a second wardrobe just for way too expensive fancy clothes I have no space at all... most my books are stacked in boxes in my short semi-hallway. My LSK volumes are stuffed on top of my other books on a shelf between cups and tea, next to jewelry and above my ridiculously huge box of sweets and (usually sweets) snacks... my room is a mess, ahaha x'DD;;;;

Fluffy fluffy Chikus~~~. It's funny, most of the good, warm-hearted faction are all smiles (even if Georgo's is more of a smirk) while the cruel, cold-hearted faction are all frowning or expressionless. Very stark contrast!

Oh oh, more people than I thought want to order, so the price of the book will be a little lower! Probably around $10! Rejoice! (Part of the cost was the shipping from the printer to me, so with more people ordering, that part of the cost goes down!)

(your book would be below taxes though, packages marked as gifts can go up to 45€ with no fees I believe)

My flat isn't marvelous at all :'D I've been wanting to move out for about a year now... after living in it for just a year (two now). I don't actually have many books here, I left most of them with my parents and I didn't get many new ones since I have limited space... which I used for hoarding shoes and fabric instead *coughs* It's really just intensely chaotic in here OTL

(I usually don't care about soccer but then I was informed it wasn't just 5:0 at the time but after only the first half... so I tuned in at 6:0 |D That was manslaughter on sports anime level. I'm kinda glad I live in a calm area full of Japanese people, my friend lives in Berlin Kreuzberg right next to a big public park were people gather to party...)

Actually DHL is the biggest delivery service of all I think?? But yeah, I only knew it as a german delivery service before I started buying things from everywhere |D I always thought UPS was the biggest. Anyway, DHL is pretty much the most expensive, but also the fastest and highly secure shipping method.

Sadly I'll be moving back to my parents' place in late september for money reasons and since my sister moved out too, there's not just my huge room which is about the same size as my flat including the kitchen space, but also her now unoccupied room that still contains her shelves.... I have a premonition this is going to end in a lot of books, merchandise and hats |D

(but what if Ceo made him promise not to... like "please value your life, you might be undead but you're still alive" or something and then he takes to guarding Ceo's grave, and eventually everyone's graves, and centuries later he doesn't even remember whose graves they are, the names on the stones are faded by the weather, his memories gone, and he only knows he's been guarding them because the villagers know he's always been doing that, how there's always been this shadow on the old abandoned graveyard who will chase out malevolent trespassers, and he just stays there because he doesn't know what else to do and he still has lingering affections, even though he doesn't know for what or whom)
((and I'm totally imagining a scene in manga format about a little girl who is chased by bullies and flees to the old graveyard and Roland scares off the kids, not to help the girl but because he doesn't want rowdies on the graveyard, but the little girl thanks him with a bright smile which he totally isn't used to because the townspeople usually stay away, but the girl takes a liking to him and comes visit him almost daily and brings flowers to put on the graves))

Akdkkajdkakfkksk this is so sad why do you come up with the most angsty scenes ahhhhhhhh.
*imagines Roland's tracing over the name on Ceo's grave and going over their memories together every day to keep himself front forgetting. But as time goes on the memories fade one by one. Until he is left with just the image of a smile and a flash of blue. But he knows that this person, all these people and graves are the most important things to him even though he isn't sure why. All he's left with are the names carved into the stones. And the barest hints of who they represent. Ahhh I imagine that Roland would carve the names back again and again to keep them from fading. Because they're all that is physically left of his 'most important people'. And he needs the physical reminder to be there so that he won't forget the names.*

Also Roland sitting in heavy rain, carving the names with the edge of his wicked sword (because I doubt he'll let go of it to risk it falling into the wrong hands) and shielding the graves from the weather with his wings so the stone might wear off just a little less.

On another note I totally want one of those modern future rebirth fanfics were Roland is just Roland. This adult man wearing a business suit and a cheapass pink plastic ring that looks like it's from a chewing gum machine. I want a Death Monarch with a smartphone. I want the future version of the Holy Temple to actually have his phone number (probably just the Sun Knight and Pope or whatever became of those positions). But they never really call him and he only deals with the Pope occasionally to make sure they have his contact information, as there's some kind of deal that as long as they know how to find him and he doesn't wreak havoc, the Holy Temple will just leave the Death Monarch alone, since, y'know, fightind a Death Monarch is not exactly something anyone would be eager to do. Otherwise Roland keeps away from The Church of Light because he feels he doesn't belong there anymore. Until one day young reborn Grisia snatches reborn Neo's phone and calls this one damn phone number he's always been curious about.

I was gonna edit my last post to add this new related thought in but it won't let me so I'll spam it on this reply instead.
So continuing that smile and flash of blue thought. I get the additional mental image of Roland repeating the motion of putting his hand upon the gravestone everyday. As a remembrance of that scene. And when his memories fade he would continue the motion, not knowing quite what he is expecting each time. But always getting a nagging thought that he should be feeling warmth and a heartbeat instead of just the cold slab of stone.

REINCARNATION FIC YES.
There are so many in the Chinese fandom. But only a very very few where it follows the Finding Roland canon. I read this really good one where Roland came back to the temple because the continent is having troubles with a new rising religion and the God of Light's faith is fading. And he got this prophecy from the pope to go on a quest and all that. And through it he found ofc all the 38th gen and it was very epic.
(Just a side note Grisia totally genderbent in that fic. Along with Ecilan, Demons, Vival, and Elmairy I think. And Grisia ended up marrying Lesus wahahahahahha)

OOOOOOooooo I can just imagine the phonecall. It would totally end with Roland somehow roped into buying Grisia pie. And that's how they met again.

ARGH. Oh no. Oh nononononooooooooo. I have been thinking about memory-fading Roland too much lately aaaaaaaaaah. Although I think. It'd be even more painful to watch him while he still remembers what that gesture meant. How he rests his forehead agains the cold stone above his hand and remains still for ages. Reminisces about Ceo, longs for his warmth, his smile, and just mourns.

We totally need a fic like that in english fandom! I wanna readdddd but not write because ugh no I am a failure I'm even super awkward with my own derpy OCs already.... |D;;;; (on that note did you read the short story I postet on my blog-) I'd be totally tempted to just go "I'LL JUST LEARN CHINESE AND READ THEM" but uh. no. not with that character-based written form. /why can't it be french or something I'D EVEN LEARN FINISH but please no chinese I have no devotion to language studies. the only foreign language I'm good at is english/

In moments like these I seriously regret my lack of ability to make really nice atmospheric digital speedpaints like some people do... aaaah that could look so great with this scene... and heartbreaking uwaaaah I might need to do another sketch to calm my heart hrrrrgh.
I'm imagining Ceo to use a (blue) feather to write with so Roland will have to take extreme care of it and he'll probably get super distressed when it accidently gets ruffled or wet and don't anyone dare to try and steal it--- Trying to snatch the Ghost of the Old Cemetery's feather might even be a popular test of courage among the kids in the village. And how close you got to that hill with that tree and those graves before you ran off screaming because you saw a shadow or heard some trees rustling indicates how high your standing among the other kids is. If you actually got to see the feather you'll probably be leader for a lifetime.

Awwww!! Or, or! The classic! He wanders around whatever their modern equivalent of the Temple might be, until Ceo crashes into him because he couldn't really see over his stack of documents (probably those huge chunky box file folders now though) and Roland was to busy looking at his surroundings to pay attention to other people so of course the files are all send flying and the both immidiately get down on their knees to pick them up and Ceo apologizes and then they both look up at the same time and their eyes meet ♥(✿ฺ´∀`✿ฺ)ﾉ

Ooooooo the class shoujo scene!!!
Roland would probably turn into a statue right then and there. And maybe he'd start crying his flaming tears. Except at that point he'd have no idea why. But something deep inside is just breaking and cracking with all kinds of emotions he haven't experienced in centuries.
And Ceo might be kinda alarmed at first. But then confused because dude, you have a random statue in front of you who's weeping inhuman tears, but somehow it doesn't scare you at all. And there's something familiar about the person. And a strong urge to ditch all the paperwork and just go hug him.

I have given up on any hopes of sanity at this point. EMBRACE THE MASOCHISM.

I thought that too, but then again I thought... What if the feather itself is drenched in Holy element, having been in the Holy Temple for so long and in the hands of one of the Twelve Holy Knights at that, and the magic Roland would use would be Dark element, so while it'd preserve the physical form of the feather, that would chase out the bit of Ceo's Holy element that still lingered within... and even though the element itself might not be what an undead should like, Roland is attached to it and likes how it feels a vague kind of warm to his touch (since that tiny amount of Holy would be far from enought to burn him, but I figure he'd be sensitive to any amound of Holy element in the sense of sensing it), so he doesn't want to use Dark magic on it.
Touching that feather without permission is a once-in-a-lifetime mistake!

Aaaaaaaaaaah~~~~~~ *throws all the sparkles* And when someone walks by, let's say Georgo, he'd react like "dude wtf why are you hugging some weird guy in the middle of the hallway, what is going on- FUCK WHAT'S WITH HIS EYES" and he gets the feeling he maybe should really run and grab a teacher right about now. While Roland on the other hand once he's out of his stupor will probably pull back imidiately and try to hide his eyes but at the same time want to keep an eye on Ceo's reaction because he must have scared that poor kid if he caught a sight of his real eyes and also he just really wants to look at him for some reason

Yeahhhhh he'd totally hug him back HRRRRRGH and that warmth and his smell and the feeling of holding him is so familiar, even if this one still feels a little... tiny - no surprise at his age, I think this won't be long after his first cake shopping tour for the new Grisia, possibly even on the same day - and this calls to his mind the oh so familiar but almost forgotten smiling flash of blue; which in turn reminds him hey, you're in the present, wake up from your daydreaming.

And then Roland finds opportunities to visit Ceo time and again because he's curious and because no matter how familiar Grisia and everyone else feels too, Ceo seems to be just a little more special.

How old do you imagine them to be? Personally I imagine this happening just a few days before they take over as the 88th gen of holy knights or something. (50 generations times 20 years equals a very meaningful 1000 years xDDDD). Which is why Grisia would have Roland's number to begin with because for some reason the Death Monarch's cellphone number have become a heirloom of sorts, just like the divine swords XD;;;
And then, as a matter of fate or prophesy or something, as Roland visits the temple and all 12 of them gather once again. Something triggers and they get their memories back! (OTL I read way too many reincarnation fics, just stop reading my insanity at time you feel like)
Maybe Roland will get roped into being the Hell Knight again, because Elijah ditched ship again or something. And ofc he agrees -to everyone's surprise- because these people feels too familiar and he feels like for some reason he is meant to stand with them.
So! Maybe when they formally take their positions and take the handed down divine weapons, that'll trigger their memories! And it'll be all rainbows and unicorns from there.
Until, of course. Some force of evil is introduced that they need to face. Probably the reason why fate (or the god of light) had them regather and regain their memories in the first place.
And so an epic tale begins. //bricked

Ah! I imagined them to be like... sixteen or something? Old enough for Ceo to be stuck neck-deep in paperwork (usualy Grisia's (aka. actually Neo's) and Papa Lanbi's) but still young enough to be brats- With Grisia grabbing the chance to snatch Neo's phone and go through his contact list when Neo forgot to bring his phone when he went out and wondering about that one male contact he didn't know between all those random female contacts... But Grisia officially getting the number and getting told only to call it during times of most dire circumstances and then proceeding to call first thing once he's alone because hey, Lesus being too busy to buy him his favorite blueberry pie is totally dire circumstances, sounds great too |DD
Their divine weapons being the trigger sound good to me! Ahum. If they meet earlier they'd all have time to get to know Roland a bit before memory strikes like "wait what". Though I'm actually growing fond of the idea they just meet a rather short while before the inheritance ceremony... That'd fit well with the ~it is destiny~ plot, aha xD Oh! Maybe the original trigger is actually Roland's presence? Like they old start remembering something once he is around, or well, feeling there is something hidden there... For Ceo that'd start at/after ~the scene~ for example. And then the divine weapons break the seal for good! (That would also explain why the teachers don't remember anything even though they already hold the weapons are reborn too because I totally demand reborn teachers ok. THE TEACHERS ARE IMPORTANT TO ME.)
(Aaaaaaaah with Roland/Ceo being canon here though. Ceo remembers. But Roland doesn't. Or well maybe a litte. But not really. Awkwardness aaaaaaaaa.)

That is what I thought exactly!!!! Lesus being too busy with something or rather to buy him pie that day so he phones Roland's number. Because for some reason instincts tell him that it could lead to pie. (Grisia's pie instincts are truly powerful)
Ooooo yeah *___* like, a week or two before the ceremony they meet and little bits gets remembered here and there. Nothing solid but just that familiar feeling. And maybe knowing things about each other from instinct and stuff. For example Roland would buy the sweetest pie he could find for Grisia without being told to. And somehow fear for his life the moment he sees Lanbi even though he doesn't have reason to fear anyone xD;;;;
Idk. If we go by the destiny route I imagine Roland to regain his memories along with the rest of them. Because if the God of Light can bring them together all perfectly reincarnated and together and stuff. He could probably dig up one little death monarch's memories. Maybe get the God of Chaos to help xD;;;

Though I suppose if it's a matter grave enough to justify the rebirth two generations of Twelve Holy Knights and even return their memories to at least one generation, I'm sure the Shadow God would be willing help refresh that poor lumpy old ex-demon king candidate's memories =u=b <- Also. omg I want that "conference" scene.

And while Grisia watches Roland and Ceo with a satisfied smile because Dear Brothers please be happy while Lesus observes Grisia with the faintest of smiles. And grabs his hand under the table. And when Grisia notices and throws him a glance Lesus traces over the spot his wedding ring sat before and intertwines their fingers and Grisia blushes furiously.

OMG IMAGINE THOUGH. In a future setting where Roland didn't lose his memories I guess. TWELVE HOLY KNIGHTS ANIME. Like all those renditions of Shinsengumi and all in actual Anime. 1st and 38th Gen would totally be the most popular to make anime about (the prologue did claim 38th as the most (in)famous generation after the first after all). And Roland just goes and watched each and every anime, reads each and every manga and book, plays each and every game because he has too much time on his hands anyway No matter if the intended audience is female or little kids. That grown man sitting in the theatres and getting odd looks from concerned mothers because he's the only adult not with a child in a vaguely THK-based pocket-mecha battle anime movie. And how playing the Hell Knight route in otome games feels slightly awkward but he does it anyway to complete the game. (and he totally always plays through Storm Knight route first and if it's an explicitly 38th gen based game goes and writes super long super serious reviews about that particular route on his otherwise barely used blog.)
And how those fangirls from his class totally try drag Ceo into their cosplay group whenever they cosplay from some THK series but answer his inquiry why they never bother Grisia about being their Sun Knight with "Grisia? Nah! Sure he's pretty (and he's even got the name down), but he's not manly enough! If we're going for the girly look, one of us can just crossdress. When looking for a guy, it totally needs to be a handsome stud like Neo-sensei!"

It's quite thick. :'D I was a little worried the thickness might feel strange with the size of the book (smallest size available), but it's a reasonable size! And actually not as thick as the paperback I used as comparison. XD

Yup yup, Canada shipping turned out to be... not as bad as I was fearing. :'D I guess... at least we're in the same continent, hahaha. But gosh... just crossing the border means shipping fees go up even if the distance isn't as far as shipping to certain places in the US.
