I actually finished watching a handful of anime. 8D
Kamigami no Asobi
A bunch of gods are summoned to Zeus's garden to attend school in order to learn about humans.
I never thought I would end up liking this series so much. Now my Saturdays feel empty... Anyway, I adored the series so much that I decided to cosplay Tsukito at Anime Expo. I decided after the last episode aired last week, haha. Super duper last minute decision. (I'm currently still working on the cosplay... I'm leaving for AX in two days! I'm such a last minute person. With everything. OTL) As for why I adored the series... I just found it endearing! It had a good mix of humor and feels. The first episode made me giggle, since it was totally laying it on thick with the otome game vibe and with Apollo's magical boy transformation. I was prepared for it to be a very silly show, but wow did the series end up being a bit more serious than I thought it'd be. It did a great job making me like all of the characters! I really enjoyed that the anime focused on the bonds of friendship. <333 (It also helps greatly that I could see parallels with LSK everywhere. XD) I found it very cool how we have pairs of gods and they do all these things together. XD My favorite characters ended up being Loki and Tsukito, but they were all fairly endearing!
Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii
Nike from the Rain Kingdom travels to the Sun Kingdom to marry the Sun King Livi in order to prevent her country from getting destroyed. Livi is a ruthless boy who has conquered the entire world.
I'd been eying the manga of this series but never really got started with it, and then whoa, it already has an anime! The anime did a pretty good job presenting a coherent, well developed romance despite the manga still being ongoing. Nike was a wonderful protagonist. Energetic. Optimistic. Really likable. Livius was pretty cool, but I was more in it for Nike. Also, his voice sounded a bit old to me considering how young he is. The rain song was very beautiful even though it did sound out of place the first time I heard it...there's English in it... but the lyrics and the tune are both quite beautiful. I started looking forward to hearing it each week! (Like, how will Nike end up calling the rain this time? My favorite was the time she used it to make Bard and Livius talk to each other~~~ And that last one was really nice too because it was a long more tender). Sometimes, I felt the animators were trying too hard to make some scenes funny, but overall, I enjoyed the adaption. (...I even teared up with the grandma's song...). I guess I will be reading the manga sometime after all!
La Corda d'Oro Blue Sky
Several schools compete in the National competition to be the best music club in the nation.
I loved La Corda d'Oro back in the day. Translated a bunch of the character songs, played the 1st game (bought more but never played the rest...), bought all of the manga, listened to a whole bunch of drama CDs... Basically, I was crazy over it. XD Anyway, it was nice revisiting this particular verse again (we even got to see Hihara all grown up being an adviser), but the quality of the animation was pretty bad. First episode amused me because it was so full shounen battle spirit, conquering the nation and all that, with music! The captain (Ritsu) totally reminded me of Tezuka. I was not very fond of Kanade, but it was nice that she started off talented (she just lacked confidence and self respect, I felt). The past between her and that Myouga Reiji guy was fairly engaging... I really just wanted to find out just what was between them already, haha. But it was teased throughout the entire anime. Pacing felt really fast, the story a little disjointed with there being so many characters. Battling as a team instead of individually took away some of the character development... I do love team fights, but with only 12 episodes... It felt rushed. I wish Lili had made an actual appearance. His absence did take some of the magic away from the series for me.
Hitsugi no Chaika
A mysterious girl carrying around a coffin is on a journey to collect her father's remains.
I didn't watch this weekly but rather watched it on and off. It's a pretty good fantasy with great fights and some mystery. Solid series, I felt! I quite enjoyed it. Magic, dragoons, displaced characters not knowing what to do with their lives now that the war is over, siblings, lost memories, fabricated existences~~~. It's adapted from a light novel and seems to have adapted it at a very fast pace, but just from watching the anime, I felt it was pretty coherent and self-contained. I'll be looking forward to season 2!
Isshuukan Friends
Kaori loses memories of her friends every Monday. Every Monday, Hase Yuki asks to be her friend again.
Yet another manga I've been eying but never started. The anime totally packed the feels. It was really sweet and adorable. The character designs are really cute (they blush so much) and has a really soft feel. The colors are very soft too, as are the backgrounds. The manga is still ongoing, but the anime did manage to tie things up fairly well. Kaori and Hase are both very sweet.
Yowamushi Pedal
Onoda is a complete otaku, always riding his bicycle all the way to Akihabara to save money. Unfortunately, there is no anime club in his high school. One day, he ends up competing with a complete cycling nerd Iwaizumi and ends up enamored by cycling too.
Ahhhhh, season 1 is over, and at such a stopping point??? This series is really fun. Hime, hime~~~. (But gods, the cliffhangers) Onoda is a very lovable main character. Very earnest. Very in love with the sport. Very supportive. I did find the character designs to be a bit weird (more in the manga than in the anime), but it is what makes the series distinctive! The omake at the end of each episode were all generally very fun. I'm looking forward to S2.
LSK V7C4
That conversation between Tyler and Grisia, ahhhhhh. I've been wanting to write something about Adair and Tyler talking about their captains. NOW I FINALLY CAN. (Ahem, it'll be part of A Vice-Captain's Tale)
“Adair said that everything he does is just following orders, and what’s truly hard to do is actually giving orders.”
<3333
Also, yay, more of Tyler! \o\ (I really don't do his characterization right...)
...Now that I think about it, that Round Robin story over in the round robin post turned out a little like the adventurer squad they form here? Wow. XD;
I'll be heading off to Anime Expo this Wednesday! Hope to see you there if you're going as well! I'll be cosplaying Tsukito from Kamigami no Asobi and Sugawara from Haikyuu!! (I'm still working on both cosplays, ahahaha) This means I probably won't be on LJ much until I return. No fic updates either until Sunday or later. (...man, I never did post about my AX 2013 experience... I'll have to do that sometime... a retrospective post haha...) I can be reached via Plurk or email while I'm away!

Today was another "there it isssss"
Date: 2014-07-01 11:09 am (UTC)(Even though I have to agree, Grisia, you're a blind man! How do you know Elaro's colors!)
My real insight however was damnnnnn how can Tyler be this adorable. SUCH A SWEETIE. I already thought that when Grisia "saw" him in the previous chapter but. ARGH. Poor darling baby must be suffering so much ;A; Aaaaaaah Vice-Captainsssssssssss
The Vice-Captains tend to be forgotten, but they must go through so much too! Aaah, poor Tyler, poor Adair, but also poor Vidar and poor Leaf-Vice-Captain... How must you have felt when you heard about your Captains' deaths!
ARGH INTENSE BONDS EVERYWHERE.
On a different note, woah, you must be a quick cosplayer! The quickest I whipped up a cosplay was two weeks for my D.Gray-man cosplay, but I had my mother's help on that. Well, the wigs I order always take weeks to arrive since I usually order them from asia since it's way cheaper for pretty much the same quality! (Plus, I'm super lazy, ahaha. Haven't thouched Grisia since I decided to push him back to autumn cons for temperature reasons... and because I'm super slow with the coat since I need to pretty much sew the golden borders on manually and ugh don't even mention the wings. /What was I thinking/)
I demand pictures of your cosplays! I wanna seeeeeee~~~~ Also, have fun at AX <3333
I'm still thinking about just randomly watching the Kamigami ending, ahaha |D For obvious reasons.
I remember watching the first few episodes of La Corda d'Oro! Never got far though. Aha, Otome games and their anime adaptions really aren't my thing in the end. I never even finished watching UtaPri. Let alone Amnesia or whatever Hakuoki season it had been I started on... *coughs* Let's not even mention Diabolik
WifebeatersLovers.Hitsugi no Chaika sounds like something I might look into story-wise, actually! But the art style isn't my thing, weh.
/Oh no it's the biking anime/ All I know about YowaPeda is there's some guy with a weird face and amazing green seaweed hair. But then again, that still doesn't beat some of Eyeshield 21's character designs... |D Sports anime are deadly.
Re: Today was another "there it isssss"
Date: 2014-07-01 06:38 pm (UTC)I totally wondered that too when I first read the book. |D;;
totally an epiphany from the God of Light, rightTyler is so adorable ahhhhhhhh. These chapters~~~. This volume just has so much more of him. It's awesome. :D (Especially with the insight he brings about the vice-captains, hehe~~) But gosh, their captains... so much to worry about!! Captains, take care of yourselves!
Haha... makeshift cosplay is makeshift! (But this is on par for the course) I usually make my cosplays the last few days before a convention... My sewing leaves much to be desired though, despite my many years of cosplaying. XD; Since I'm so pressed for time, my dad is helping me out too (he usually does. and sews much better than me hahaha). Ahhh, autumn con weather sounds much for suitable for Grisia! Wearing all that in sweltering heat doesn't sound very smart. |D;;
Yesss, pictures! After I finish whoot whoot. Almoooost done.
Hahaha, the ending to Kamigami was pretty cool! All my feels
and all the LSK parallels. La Corda was what got me into otome games. XD;; The second series doesn't have the same charm though, darn. Hahaha, I've heard very strange things about Amnesia and a cage. XD;I'm looking forward to the second season of Chaika, especially since it sounds like it will end concurrently with the light novel! *___*
The guy with the amazing green seaweed hair is such an awesome sempai. <3333 (Ahaha, E21's character designs~~~. They're definitely distinctive!)
Re: Today was another "there it isssss"
Date: 2014-07-01 07:28 pm (UTC)(He probably grew up like that because Grisia is his teacher--- with Grisia as your dad and Neo as your grandpa, your choices are probably limited to growing up into the most reasonable person, or ruining the Holy Temple. Better take Big Bro Adair as your role-model!!)
more like Yu Wo not rereading her chapter before publishingThat wasn't even the only tidbit that was off, though it was the most noticeable... Rereading it, Grisia mentally called Sybil an Assassin instead of the Ranger she was, and Vival nodded at some point, aha. ûu *nitpicks*Ahaha, who doesn't |DD Either I just randomly make a cosplay and then wear it for the next con that happens to happen, or I start really early and still have to hurry at the end because I've slacked of for so long... Though I have to say, I never had to pull all-nighters yet! (Probably because I'd rather push things back than pull all-nighters--- well, I can't do much late at night anyway since my landlady who lives above my got her baby)
...I've worn dark brown fake leather and a black heavy denim coat with actual proper inner lining at the usually hottest con of the year, Grisia can't be worse--
Re: Today was another "there it isssss"
Date: 2014-07-01 07:52 pm (UTC)The assassin part was strange (I wonder if it will get noticed and edited in the new edition). The part with noticing Elaro's hair and eye color does eventually get explained, but I wonder which came first, writing about noticing the hair/eye color with the explanation in mind, or coming up with an explanation afterward. |D;; The explanation is already hinted at, I suppose.
...I sometimes am still making my cosplay on the day of the convention. Or I sleep really late (well early in the morning) the day of the con and end up being a zombie for the rest of the day. |D;; *sigh* last minute cosplays...
Leather and a coat!!!! Wow. XD; (At least Grisia's clothes are mostly white!)
Re: Today was another "there it isssss"
Date: 2014-07-01 08:25 pm (UTC)(I just thought "Hey I could look it up if it's been changed in the simplified chinese version since I own that" but then I realized I can't read chinese no matter if traditional or simplified...)
...If I was the one who wrote this story, it'd definitely be messing up first and then making up an explanation that fits with how exactly I wrote the scene in question and pretending it was all on purpose |DDD
I only spent half the night before the con styling my actually already styled wig because I'm too excited to sleep xD;;;
Re: Today was another "there it isssss"
Date: 2014-07-01 09:11 pm (UTC)Ahahaha. |D; You could... take a picture! (though it's a long chapter, so nevermind. Actually, I just flipped through my book just now and realized the chapter division is actually different from the online text. OTL. Will need to move part of the chapter to the next chapter. No wonder c4 ended up so long ahahaha....The last section is actually part of c5!)
That's pretty much how I write, hahaha. Thankfully there are readers to point out my forgetfulness. |D;;
Re: Today was another "there it isssss"
Date: 2014-07-01 09:49 pm (UTC)If I'm not mistaken, this should be the part, right? |D It might be a long chapter, but this part is relatively in the beginning since it's right when they changed into their disguises.
Re: Today was another "there it isssss"
Date: 2014-07-01 09:58 pm (UTC)Ah yes, that's the part. You are skilled. XD; Ah, it still says female assassin.
Re: Today was another "there it isssss"
Date: 2014-07-01 10:34 pm (UTC)Ah, okay |D I guess it's not exactly the kind of thing you'd focus on while trying to find errors in your own work...
(on an entirely unrelated note, I keep reading my browser's bookmark on your blog as "The Legend of Fishboners" (the bookmark above is AO3's LSK section) which is kind of awkward)
Re: Today was another "there it isssss"
Date: 2014-07-01 10:50 pm (UTC)Pffft, omg... The Legend of...
(in other news, I just purchased another fishbone necklace, hehe)
