Fanime Day 2

*SCREECHES*

There was a Prince cosplayer at Fanime, omg. Saw her walk by in the Artist Alley, but I was behind the tables (and eating) and I didn't have my glasses on, so I wasn't sure. But when I left the Artist Alley later to use the bathroom, I saw her again (I was probably squinting, hahaha). She had a red jewel on her forehead, so I was fairly sure she was cosplaying Prince, but I asked just to make sure. XDDD WHOEVER YOU ARE, YOU MADE MY DAY. (To think I'd see a cosplayer of Yu Wo's series at an American convention!!!!) I was too shy to do anything else but snap her pic and then leave. :'D; /already felt like such a stalker

I so very much wished I was cosplaying Sun. XDDD I think I might actually give it more thought... even though no one will recognize me! I'll go look for a wig in the Dealer's Room tomorrow. His clothes will probably be a pain to make and wear though. XD;

Stuff I bought today! (Haikyuu!! Art Anthology ahhhhhhh, and lots of clearfiles! Haikyuu, Blast of Tempest, and Kamigami!)


I took very few pictures! /needs a new camera.


This was Thursday, Day 0! Came for Swap Meet, but the line was crazy so all I ended up doing was wander around the empty convention center. Here's the entrance to the Dealer's Room. The theme this year for Fanime is the beach! (Free! fits so well~). Fanime even made beach towel merchandise, LOL.


Here's the empty Artist Alley before the convention! The AA is located in the ballroom in the newly renovated section of the convention center. Such a pretty place! (Only downside is that there is no bathroom in the room! You have to leave the room to go to the bathroom. Still loads better than last year's location though. We only had portable bathrooms last year)


Line for Swap Meet was crazy. It was like this on Day 1 too. (This pic is of Day 0)

Here's the registration line. It was empty every time I passed by! They became so efficient this year! (The yellow tape is really just making you exercise, hahaha)

I spent most of my time today wandering the Artist Alley!

This is all I bought during that time~

klasdjf;lasdjfa; LIBRA. From Fire Emblem Awakening. They had a lot of the other characters too, but Libra is my top favorite~. She even gave me a high five after she asked me if Libra was my favorite. XD


kdfja;sdfj;sa Yowapeda! Onoda! (Who turned out to be gem2niki's friend and also the Donnel cosplayer I took a pic with last year, LOL. Small world. Same interests. XD)


They passed by our table and I was all like, noooo why are you on the other side!! Come, walk this way!!! But they never did. XD; Saw them again on the way out though, yay! Fire Emblem Awakening! I love the sword!


This Rei bought some of gem2niki's prints! :D He also seems to be following a lot of other sports series~~. (I was amused that right behind him was a Kurobasu cosplayer as well as a Yowapeda one. Oh this is truly the time of sports animanga!)

The Artist Alley had a lot of Yowapeda and Haikyuu!! art ahhhhhh. I ended up buying a Haikyuu!! artbook. *___* (How did they already put together one!!!!)


Meanwhile, outside the AA... XD;;; (Seriously a lot of shirtless guys this year. If you count all the titans running around too)

Prince!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! kjdf;asdjfajdfajfa Too bad her hair blended into the light, ahhhhhh. I took another pic of her against a blue wall but that one turned out blurry. OTL She has red eyes!!!! :DDDDD (I only used red contacts for two of my cosplays... I don't think I'll do it again. XDDD /walks around half blind already. But they really make the cosplay stand out!)

Around this time, I made a quick visit to the Dealer's Room to buy stuff I saw on Day 1 but was indecisive about (the clearfiles and plushies of Kuro and Shiro from K Project). Lots of stuff was already starting to be sold out, so I just went ahead and bought the stuff I'd been eying. XD;

G2n also wanted the Kuro and Shiro, so I went with her to the Dealer's. XD;


CUTIES. Reese and Cyrus from Animal Crossing! Saw them while we were shopping for Kuro and Shiro. XD


kaleidoscopic27's cosplays are always so nice, ahhhhhhhhh. She has a table in the AA! She wasn't there when I first passed by though, but her friend was selling a Haikyuu!! art anthology! As well as a Fire Emblem Awakening one (which I'd already bought last year at Japan Expo). I came back with g2n so we could each pick up a copy of the Haikyuu one. XD;


It's so worth it! I especially love these two spreads~. They even gave me a free print, ahhhhh. (It's of Kenma! Really cute! All the Karasuno members are birds! XD)

And that's it... ahaha. XD; Wow this isn't a lot of photos at all. I was stuck in the Arist Alley pretty much all day. :'D I have ZERO pics of myself! (I already have plenty of pics of me as Bossun from previous years though, so whatever. XD;;)

We left AA before 7 to head to the MusicFest. Home Made Kazoku took the stage around 7:30! They were awesome! I only really knew their song from Eureka seveN (it kind of made me want to cosplay Eureka again... but noooo, my wig for her is a disaster, so I can't, boo) and their songs from Naruto and Bleach. They were really good at getting the crowd hyped up, and their English was so good! (Makes sense, since they lived in the US when they were young). I really love all the mentions of being one big family~~

Hm, who to cosplay tomorrow... *goes to look through closet*

You really make me want to go to an American con once. Let me be your Yu Wo cosplayer of the day!! //shot but aaaaah. I've never even been to a con in France or somewhere I can actually reach, let alone overseas! Why is everything so expensive, sob.

(The Latest Fashion!!! I think that would kill me xD Maybe if I actually went to a Cosplay Ball again... *coughs* Actually, I thought about making bridesmaid!Ceo my fuck-why-am-I-wearing-a-coat-in-summer-I-am-dying-let-me-get-changed-cosplay, but then I realized the (next) con's in less then a month and don't only need to make Grisia's coat, but the wings, too.... I'm not even thinking about the Divine Sun Sword, ahaha OTL)

Of course \o/ I'm not going to make this thing and then not do a shoot of it <D Mmmmh. Not so much, haha. Well, I bought white pants and I finished the shirt. That aside... I bought boots, but I still need to customize them, I don't even have the materials for the jarbot yet, the feathers for the wings are ordered but have not yet arrived and I'm not 100% clear on how they'll work yet (gonna be a trial and error thing I guess) and I've cut out most of the coat and am done with 70% of the seams of the outer fabric, meaning I still need to neaten and sew together the inner lining, paint the Sun symbols on the sleeves and sew the whole thing together, not to mention I still need to construct and cut out the collar and front part... and make the button holes, but on the buttons... and attach the wings... I've still got some work to do |D (like 80% of it ahaha) I've even been sewing on the train today and yesterday xD If I keep up this pace I might actually make it \o/

Well, if it's just seams, it's easy! I can do that on the train. Just need the part of the two edges I'm sewing together I'm currently working on outside the bag, the rest can be stuffed in, ahah. It's easier when nobody sits next to me though... *doesn't want to hit people in the face while pulling the yarn*

Ooooh you bet, it's a ridiculous lot of work :'D but that's why I chose it, kinda? xD //goes to an early grave

Gotta paint the Sun symbol on the sleeves next and work on the inner lining- and then make the parts I'm still missing, ugh, I hate collars, how am I supposed to make this one sit the way it should, aaaaaaa----

Skill, I tell you! That's some skill right there! And to be able to do all that on a train! /person who never rides trains (how are you so productive on a train). I guess I'm just too unorganized to do things on the go like that... Even with writing, I feel strange writing during a bus ride or car ride. I have this need to be in front of my computer instead...

Ahhhhh, what lovely progress you've made so far! The ruffles are so beautiful. *___* And oooo, nice cloth you've chosen! Such pretty designs!

Hffff! It's not so hard once you get used to it really~ well, it's just those urban train things really, I rarely ride long distance trains either. I don't like writing on the bus either! In a car it's fine if I'm alone in the back I guess, or if I'm sure the person next to me won't try take a glance at what I'm writing, haha. |D Though I did translation-work on my laptop on the train before. It's fine if it's not my private writing, so uni stuff is okay too... I just don't like seeing people's faces while they read stories I wrote xD;;; It's mostly RP too----

THE SLEEVE-RUFFLES ARE PERFECTION I was incredibly happy when I found them at a fabric market that happened a city over! For the collar I used two different ruffles (one ruffle fabric with raschel lace and one fabric lace), but the sleeves is just one single kind! It's saddening they don't sell that at the local stores here.

Update! Sewing machine had a nice day today and apparently when I put the stitch length to really short, it works with my inner lining fabric at least! (Though it might have skipped a stitch or two. Only tangled once during zick-zacking the entire thing, too!)

So I'm actually done with the inner half of the coat and even started painting one of the sleeves! Ugh, fabric paint is a pain~~~ :'D The simple 9 I had to paint on my jersey back then was bad enough, but now this.... on a relief kind of fabric too........ And I even need to do it twice! |D;;;; Someone kill me already~~~

Eeeee, that looks so cool! Does the paint seep through the cloth or spread outwards? I hope it doesn't! But that's really cool, what you painted! Did you do it free hand?

I don't think it seeps through because the fabric is quite thick, but actually I don't know, I didn't turn it over since I started painting <D if it does I guess I left stains on my landlady's crafting table-- whoops. The paint is rather dry, so it doesn't seem to bleed fortunately! I put together the symbol from a manhua page and printed it out to make a stencil (is that the word) and the inner cross is drawn using that, but I pretty much just used it as a reference for drawing the sun shape around. If you look closely you'll see the pen I used to that... which turned out to be quite a different color to my paint, ugh. I still have to fix the lines anyway, just need a thinner brush, so hopefully I'll be able to cover the pen lines mostly! They're not supposed to be seen anyway. I just hope the pen doesn't bleed in case the coat ever gets wet.......

Oh, I hope the pen doesn't bleed... I used a fabric pen on a shirt before and it ended up bleeding later... (boo). The paint I used on another outfit was totally fine though!

It's looking awesome already. <333 After you fix the lines, it'll look even better! \o\

Ah, are all of yours crossplays? XD;; I have a mix of the two. I cosplayed Maya today. It was cold wearing such a short skirt!!! /not used to it. I also had to show off my legs when I was cosplaying Prince of Tennis though, in the past (shorts!!!). Huh, I had to wear shorts for several of my crossplays, actually! (SKET Dance, Shugo Chara, Prince of Tennis...)

Fanime is quite nice~~. A lot less stressful than Anime Expo, the other convention I go to every year, because it's local. And smaller. But it's actually gotten a lot more crowded over the years too. But since I didn't really have much in the terms of new cosplay this year, I got a little bored. -__-;; Hope I can put something together for Anime Expo coming up in July...

Ooo the Artist Alley has space in the rows! ACen had just enough room for three single file lines to fit between the tables. It was really hard to get through :/

lk;asjflajsa I love it when they depict the third years as the parental figures of the others. I love Suga's expression - he is just so sweet! And Daichi has one on his shoulder and one in the crook of his arm - so strong!

Haikyuu!! is already everywhere. I'm super amazed! (Last year, it was Attack on Titan that was everywhere despite only a few episodes being out). Yup, Blast of Tempest (Zetsuen no Tempest) is the bottom left clearfile! I really love the series~. Very Shakespeare-influenced. XD

Fanime AA is usually quite spacious! AX one is crowded... (huge though) More people too, so that contributes to the crowds.

Thankfully, nothing else had much of a wait!

I saw several FE cosplayers! \o\ (Surprisingly, no Ikes or Marths much at all). Saw a Ranulf and several Awakening cosplayers like Owain, Lissa, Olivia, and such.

It was around 70~80 over here. Very nice weather! Lots of shirtless people around. XD; Probably even more so than usual because the Fanime theme this year is "the beach" XD;; There was also several girl versions of Free characters running about. I was amused.

I used to take a lot more photos! But I've gotten lazier and lazier each year... :'D;; I mostly only snap photos now if people have already been stopped by someone else. XD;;
