lucathiaI got myself Pokemon Y (it's really cute), but I haven't gotten very far in the game. Now that Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies is out, I'll be setting Pokemon aside for a bit, haha.
So far, I've finished the first case. I'm on the second case! Oh gods, the music. <3333 I'm really in love with it, even more so after hearing these tunes live at Japan Expo. The anime cutscenes are really awesome. The voices seem pretty cool.
So, it looks like we'll be playing as both Phoenix and Apollo. I kind of don't want to play as Phoenix, haha. After Ace Attorney 4... I just felt that Phoenix's story has already concluded, and I'm also having a hard time meshing this Phoenix with AA4!Phoenix. The characterization feels quite different to me... and I wonder how the spotlight will be shared among Phoenix, Apollo, and Athena. I really hope it won't be disjointed.
The ending of case 1 though... suuuuuch a teaser. So yeah, I'm much more interested in Apollo than anything (and whoa did he look cool in that jacket and those bandages... dang, Apollo, you feel very different too!). But case 2 brought back the usual Apollo, with the flashback. Chords of Steel, I've missed you. ♥ It's great seeing Trucy again too. I wonder if Apollo and Trucy ever found out their relationship (doesn't seem like it), and if it will be touched upon in this game. This is what I'm most curious about...
I'm not completely sold on Athena yet. She feels like she came out of nowhere. I really miss Maya and Trucy. Trucy made a short appearance at the beginning of case 2 (or well, episode 2), and then she seems to have stopped tagging along with Apollo now that Athena is around. Feels quite weird. Why must there always be a new female sidekick... T___T; Still, I quite like Athena as a character (I just don't like how she was added to the story). She sure displays all of her emotions on her face, and Widget... I'm sure Widget will get her into trouble someday, haha, with blurting things out. There was already quite a gruesome flashback for her, so she must have had some kind of traumatic experience in the past. I guess having a new sidekick does make for easier expansion on the storyline... Like the addition of Kay for Investigations. (Featuring Emma wouldn't have been helpful, since we already know her background).
I'm always amused by the ways AA comes up to introduce people to the court scene. In AA, Phoenix is a newbie lawyer, so we're walked through the process. In AA2, he loses his memories for a bit. Something like that, if I'm not remembering incorrectly, haha. So we're walked through the process again. In AA3, Mia is featured as the novice defense attorney, so we got the run through again. In AA4, Apollo is a newbie, so no need to resort to amnesia. This time, it's because Apollo was too injured to defend, so Athena had to take the stage... I was surprised though, that she didn't defend the entire way. Phoenix came quite quickly and took over. (Darn you, Phoenix, always stealing the spotlight!)
The puns in this game are still excellent. We're subjected to Gaspen Payne's prosecution. He is the younger brother of Winston Payne. I love their names, hahahahaha.
Bobby Fulbright is the new detective. I'll miss Gumshoe, but Fulbright has been amusing so far. I think he'll grow on me.
I haven't seen much of Simon Blackquill yet, the new prosecutor, but so far, he seems interesting. A prosecutor who is a convicted convict? This is certainly new!
I'm on Day 1 of the second trial. I can't wait to play more. ♥
Yu Wo has been plurking some sneak peeks at something she's writing! I wonder what this is from?!!! A new side story, maybe? Wait, don't tell me this is one of the promised side stories from the end of the year prompt gathering thing... XD;; (It's only been 10 months, haha!) I will be happy if it is. The second place winner was indeed about Neo and Aldrizzt's adventures, the "We are not the Dark Human Squad" one, hahahaha, so I think these excerpts are from that side story! Third place was... Emperor, I think? About Liaula from Kill No More. *___* Post series. I am reaaally hoping "Flying Daggers" (about Fox from 1/2 Prince) will get written too, but I doubt it will get written... with it being 4th... ;__;
Very, very curious... And then the next plurk. (Yu Wo plurked that the first excerpt made people want to bash against the walls, hahahaha, so now she will post one that will elicit a milder reaction)

Aldrizzt struggled with all his might, but his strength was so meager in comparison to Neo's that it could practically be disregarded.
The fact was, there really weren't a lot of people who could put up a struggle against Neo Sun.
"What in the world are you struggling for?" Neo finally lost his patience. If they continued tugging and pulling like this, when would they ever reach their destination? He didn't have that kind of patience.
Aldrizzt was stunned. His anger rushed to the forefront. He shook Neo off forcefully, the latter letting go without too much fuss after tiring of all this tugging.
"This is something I should be asking instead, isn't it? What are you so adamant about dragging me into such a large city for?"

Neo was very dissatisfied. With his and Aldrizzt's strengths, there was no mission they couldn't take on, right? Yet, just because they were lone adventurers and had not made much of a name for themselves, none of the big missions would consider them at all. Most of the time, they only received missions for gathering and escorting, and Neo was not very interested in escort missions. As opposed to protecting someone, Neo was much more skilled at beating people up, so the only missions left after that were stupid ones for collecting flowers and plants!
Aldrizzt was quite interested in missions for collecting flowers and plants, but they left Neo feeling completely dismal. The adventurer's life he imagined was not being a gardener!
XDDD!! Oh, I can't wait to read this. (Just reading these excerpts make me want to work on Invincible again...)
