As far as I can see is not enough.

 

He clenched his hands together as the whirring of the machine approached.

 

My naked eyes alone are not enough.

 

The burning metal touched his skin. He tried to stifle his scream.

 

I need eyes that ca-

 

But failed.

 

I NEED EYES THAT CAN SEE FAR. I NE-

 

When the whirring stopped, he was no longer conscious.

 

As far as I can see isn't enough, but...

 

He glanced at the tear gem in his hands and then at his not-so-oblivious sister.

 

But maybe she has always seen farther than me.

A/N: I wanted to write something for YYH...and only the most obvious thing came to me.  *sigh*

This is so pretty. In a way, I'm glad it's so emotion driven because I don't know a single thing about that anime. O____O

I was trying out a different style...I remember writing in this sort of style (sort of) a while ago...with thoughts in italics.

Glad you liked. I myself found the abrupt change in the last two lines a bit weird. Even though I wanted it to end that way, I couldn't find a good transition since I was already at my word limit.

And aw, you've never watched YYH? Well, it is quite an old anime compared to all the other anime out now, but it was my favorite for the longest time. :3

O_O It's one of Cat's favorite animes, but I never watched it. Granted, I almost never watch anime but that's an entirely different story. ^___^

Sometimes the abrupt change works well. It depends on individual pieces. That might add towards a dramatic feel or change in the atmosphere of the piece.

I've given up on thoughts in italics.
