3. Post the names of five fictional characters whose names begin with that letter, and your thoughts on each. The characters can be from books, movies, or TV shows.

I received the letter F from cairnsy~. Had a lot of characters to choose from but decided on these five from series I'm currently following. I wonder if I'm missing anyone obvious. XD;;

1. Feng Lan from 1/2 Prince
Her decision to play as a guy in Second Life was what got me into the series, and then her hilarious commentary kept me entertained. She's capable of appearing refined but she's goofy at heart, and her mind often makes strange connections. She has strong opinions and just wants to be herself. She doesn't seek leadership positions but they seem to find her, giving her much grief when she struggles to balance being a leader and being a friend. At first, she seems to be a fairly average person going about her daily life, but once she takes on the persona of Prince, her charisma surfaces, attracting all sorts of attention and people. I believe, however, that she's always had that charisma but never let loose before Second Life. I love how much she cares about her friends. That part of her probably has a lot to do with why other characters like her so much!

2. Fukuda Shinta from Bakuman
I usually always have a favorite character whenever I follow a series, but I don't actually have a favorite favorite from Bakuman. I pretty much like all of the characters! Still, Fukuda is pretty awesome. Whenever he shows up in the anime (voiced by Suwabe Junichi), I always end up taking screencaps of him... so I think that means something, haha. If nothing else, I like his looks a lot. *coughs* Fukuda is brash, isn't at all afraid to speak his mind, and is very often the first to support a friend in need. He thinks of many of the mangaka he's met as part of his "Fukuda gumi", and he will do everything to help them when they need help (whether they ask for it or not), including boycotting his own manga, giving advice about how to draw panty shots, storming his own radio show, etc. I feel he played a huge part in getting all the mangaka to see each other as friendly rivals, and that's a part I really like about Bakuman~ (the mangaka being friendly rivals).

3. Fuji Yuuta from Prince of Tennis
I have a soft spot for Yuuta with him being the first rival character in the series who caught my interest. There is just something about his struggle to make a name for himself away from his brother's shadows that really spoke out to me. I adore siblings, especially brothers, in fiction, and the Fuji brothers' relationship is just such a delicious one (*coughs* I can't think of a better word at the moment. I blame this on the fact that I'm currently eating dinner...haha...). Despite how much Yuuta claims he dislikes his brother, he ends up cheering for him all the time and proclaiming him to be the best. It's really cute, haha. Fuji also clearly thinks the world of Yuuta. ;) I love Yuuta's sweet tooth (though surely he's adding too much sugar to his tea...) and just find him adorable... I think I might be doting on him much like what Fuji does, hahaha. If Yuuta were real, I would probably end up teasing him a lot. >___> I love his character song, and KENN played an excellent Yuuta in the musicals~. "Ore wa ore no namae yobaretai" is my absolute favorite song from Tenimyu.

4. Frankenstein from Noblesse
Frankenstein is an interesting character. This picture of him probably doesn't capture him very well, haha, because I feel a smug smile (or a scary smile) shows his personality much better. He's one of those characters who drives the plot forward and plays crucial parts in revealing information (and sheltering people). Despite being a strong character whose power and intelligence seem to be leagues above others, he keeps his strength in check, devoting himself entirely to his master. We meet him when he's already a changed man, no longer misusing his powers or doing forbidden experiments, but that's all we know about his past. Everything else is still a mystery. How did he come to be so strong? Just who in the world is he? He's not a noble, but can he really be human? Why is he so devoted to Rai? I enjoy seeing him smile dangerously whenever someone makes a mess in his house or damages his precious school, and I love seeing him react to Rai, or fretting over something like forgetting to give his master lunch money. I guess I like to see him lose his composure, as well as applying his intelligence to mundane things like improving the taste of ramen, though he probably doesn't think that's mundane at all (because it's all for his master's sake, which makes it something of grave importance!). ;)

5. Fujisaki Yusuke from SKET Dance
More generally known as Bossun (so much that it took me a few episodes before I could remember what his full name was), Fujisaki Yusuke is a very normal high schooler and often gets depressed over being an average main character who has nothing special that makes him stand out. But despite how "normal" he's regarded, he's actually very talented, capable of analyzing things, remembering small details, drawing, sculpting, folding origami, doing imitations of others, and most of all, helping people in need. Man, that's not average at all! His back story touched me the most out of the three back stories from Switch, Himeko, and him. It's amazing how he managed to get back on his own two feet and come to the decision that he will help people. I mostly liked SKET Dance because of the general series and not because of liking certain characters a whole lot, but after a certain revelation, I'm now very, very interested in Bossun's relationship with his 'family'. Suuuper interested. Why isn't there more fic out there for this series?!


Haven't mentioned this yet, but No Hero, which was slated to be 7 volumes in all, with 6 volumes already published and the 7th and last volume soon to be published, is now going to be 8 volumes long. Legend of Sun Knight almost went the same route, with the last volume being too long for one book. I kind of wish LSK had been expanded!! Yu Wo has started posting teasers of No Hero v7 in her blog~. I wonder when the official release date will be? (And when will she start working on Female Warrior and the next volume of Gong Hua?)

Watched the second Prince of Tennis movie. It was hilarious. Nothing as epic as Tezuka killing the dinosaurs, but still... does this movie want me to ship Fuji and Kite? Shiraishi and Tezuka? XD;; I'm going to post up some screencaps later, haha.

The movie made me asdlfkhj with laughter <-- mostly Fuji and his horse xD; I watched it before that summary post went up, but I'm surprised that I understood what was going on almost completely despite not knowing the words. Context clues, yes! Sanada vs Gate though, I really loved, and Atobe vs a million balls and how he defeated that~

Fuji and his horse just about killed me. I know Ryoma was eying that horse, but I never imagined that Fuji would actually break the horse out and become Kite's prince on a white horse. XD; I was laughing so much when it happened.

Sanada breaking the gate down was much love. Kirihara was so worried, but I was going, "Don't worry, Kirihara! Sanada has a plan! He hasn't gone crazy!"

Tumblr spoiled FujiHorse for me, so when I saw Ryouma looking at it I was all *A* "That's it!!" but was curious as to how Fuji would get to it. Just grabbed the reins and jumped on, I guess xDDDD

Haha, when I first saw what he was doing I was just under the impression that he thought "I'm not going to play your game" and be stubborn and everything, and then the gate fell and I stood corrected xDD But the interaction between those two, I loved so much~

I've been avoiding the Tenipuri tag on tumblr since I wanted to watch the movie myself first. XD;; I'm not following very many people, so I didn't get spoiled that way. What's your tumblr? :3 I guess Fuji just jumped on... but how did that horse manage to jump over the drawbridge... and where did the horse go afterward? XD

I thought from the start that his aim was to break the gate down. XD Good for him for doing that and for not playing their game! What was the point of the game anyway? XD

I'm Oriaon on Tumblr~ Haha, I track the Prince of Tennis tag, and I hadn't realized the movie was streaming when I clicked on it xD But at least there was a link to the movie I could read that had Chinese subtitles, which was useless to me since I can't read, and even though I was home my mom wouldn't translate for me ("Go study!") Haha xDDDD

I have no idea how he got the horse to take that (literally) flying leap! And then it just escaped to freedom or something, haha. I guess all the games were to just prevent the rescuers from helping... but it wasn't even real tennis! Hitting balls through gaps in the gate, bouncing them off walls, that sort of thing xD; Man, these movies...

I was wondering what the point was for all of them to rush to help Ryoma when none of them reached him for the longest time, but then they came in right at the crucial moment (all of them finished their battles at the same time?!). XD;; I was laughing because it took like 40 minutes before anyone even announced a single score (15-love), and then I was thinking, wait, they're actually keeping score?? I thought they were just bent on hurting each other with tennis balls. How do they even keep score?

xD! I was thinking that! And then tried to convince myself that it was one of those things like, if you can figure out how to counteract the trick then you automatically win, sort of thing. It can't be an actual game anyways, because in Atobe's case there would have been double, triple, etc bounces and the point would have ended long ago xD But illegal nets, walls, and lines, haha. It's a tennis movie, all logic was thrown out the window the moment the opening scene came on screen!

I felt like that was how it was supposed to work! That if you managed to beat the trick, then you won. But then they were actually keeping score... XD;; Which is nearly impossible to do when the ball can even bounce on the walls and still count.

Yeah, looking for logic in this movie was the wrong thing to do. I should just accept it at face value. XD;;

They don't explain a thing. XD;;; They all just start playing. The only match I thought even resembled normal tennis was Tezuka and Shiraishi's match, but then the lines for the court change in that one, hahaha.

Really!? xDD I actually needed the summary post to figure out that the lines were changing xD; Trying to reason it out myself... I somehow came to the wrong conclusion that there might be extremely strong magnets embedded in the ball and just outside the lines so that it would be drawn out, but didn't know if they followed the rules of switching sides every two games and that would have thrown the theory out the window. Whoops. That'll teach me to try reasoning out a TeniPuri movie xD

Well, I saw Shiraishi bring the tennis ball to his face, and then he kind of pressed it against his sweat, which made me flail. XD;; Turned out he was using it to make a mark on the ground to see if the lines were changing. Smart guy. XD;;; He even deliberately faulted twice to test that.

Hahaha, no magnets would be able to defeat Tezuka Zone! But I don't think they switched sides. Why would they need to switch sides? I doubt they've been keeping very good count of the score... XD;;

...yeah, nothing makes sense, haha.

Proper tennis matches have you switch sides every two games so there's no disadvantage to the server for serving into the sun and all that. Not like there's sun. Or any regard to rules. haha.

Yeah, there wasn't any sun. Really, no need to switch sides, and I doubt they were following any rules all that closely, haha.

I'm actually curious how this group ended up in Atobe's castle. Was the castle abandoned?! My headcanon is that all these courts were already installed before this group took over since it was Atobe's castle. Meaning these strange courts are all Atobe's. XD;;;

How interesting! I don't think I've ran across a series where I don't have a favorite favorite or favorite favorites. That's awesome though that an anime has great characters down the board. Suwabe for the win!

LOL! I'm glad you mentioned food immediately after it. I was like "What? Delicious?"

Gotta make a point on Monday to get over to a wifi spot and download the 2nd PoT movie to watch (and a whole bunch of other things I've been meaning to get all week). I spoiled myself eons ago (but we all know how much I love spoilers). I also want to see your LSK post too and look at all of the scans soon too!!!!

I find that with Bakuman, I like finding out what happens to all the characters, so I've never gone into a chapter or episode thinking, "When is this character going to show up?" With some series, I'm often only truly interested when my favorite characters are involved. But having a favorite favorite also makes me feel more invested in some series though~, because unlike with Bakuman's case, oftentimes when I don't have a favorite, it means that none of the characters caught my interest. XD;;

The 2nd movie was a lot of fun and made me laugh so much. I don't know if that was the aim of the movie or not (probably not, but then I doubt we were meant to take this completely seriously). The LSK post will take forever to load. You'll probably need to go to a wifi spot for that, haha. XD;;

Ahahaha, I see how it is! It depends on the series for me if I'm doing the "When is this character going to show up?" With Snape from HP and Roy Mustang from FMA, I couldn't wait AT ALL. Otherwise I was pretty alright. I cheated with PoT the main series when I watched all of the episodes with my favorite characters first.

For some series, I'm resigned that my favorites won't have a lot of screen time. I often end up liking minor characters! It's so much easier when I actually like the main character the most, like in the Legend of Sun Knight. No worries about my favorite not having much screen time. XD;; Hahaha, that is cheating with PoT! But then, I do that too. I reread this one book and only read the passages with my favorite character in it. XD

I actually felt there was more tennis in the movie than in the Shinpuri anime. XD;;; At least there were a lot of nicely animated tennis shots in the beginning of the movie before we ended up with ki and energy blasts...

I feel equally invested in all of the characters. :D I love it when a series can make me feel that way~.

I enjoy the real life parts a lot! I remember I was enjoying 1/2 Prince, but my interest shot up by a ton when Lan started meeting other players in RL. More off-time scenes between Lan and her brother would be nice, or Lan at school with her friends... Her friends have kind of faded into the background. Zhuo Ling Bin looks awesome in his normal clothes. I feel his RL self looks handsomer than his in game counterpart. |DDD

I feel so proud whenever anyone does well. Kind of a strange feeling, haha. XD;; Recent chapters, it makes me really happy to see Reversi doing so well. :D

I had so much fun with that chapter!! Especially with Lan's reactions. Haha, oh gosh, those dates... what with Lan ending up grading them on the food they treated her, pfffft. And Lan's mistaken belief that they liked her brother is just hilarious (and sad for the guys XD;;; ). Oh yes, Gui looks pretty handsome in game. Very pretty hair. I like his short hair look too, and I do love glasses~ XD;; He has glasses in RL right? It's been too long since we've seen him in RL, OTL, that I actually don't remember if I'm remembering correctly.
