Summary Part 1

Chapter 5: The Battle Declaration from the Light - The Alarm that the Demon King Set Forth

Long version:
Grisia returns to the team. Everyone's still waiting in the same spot and asks Grisia if the guy really was his butler. Tailin thinks not. He feels Adair's strength is probably above his, but Charlotte doesn't believe him. Grisia thinks to himself that there's nothing to doubt. Adair is far stronger. He's in the top ten among the Holy Temple. If Tailin had 70% of Adair's strength, then Grisia would not have had to wait for him to grow stronger.

Michele tells them to drop it. It's not like Grisia hasn't kept other things from them.

He changes the topic. The Church of the God of Light has declared that they'll be sending troops out in two weeks and that they welcome adventurer teams to join them. Michele says there'll probably be around 10,000 people in the end in the army.

Grisia wonders if Lesus is truly after his blood.

The team decides they will try to join the holy knights. Grisia wonders what will happen to his game. Since Tailin wasn't even as strong as a vice captain, then after joining the army, he of course would not become a hero. More like, he'd only be fit to polish a hero's shoes!

Grisia curses, wondering if Lesus hated him that much.

Charlotte wonders what he's thinking about. His expression is terrifying. Grisia changes the topic and says that Adair is his childhood friend. But he changes how he says it, since he doesn't want them to think he's his childhood "sweetheart" or anything. He almost lets slip that they met at 18, but then he lies and said they met at 8.

Tailin mentions that he called him captain. Grisia says that was because he was the king of the kids, so that's why he was called captain. Charlotte says he looks more like the type who got bullied. Which is completely true. Seeing Grisia's expression though, they drop the conversation. Michele asks if Adair is going to join the team since he looks strong. Grisia retorts that he's busy. (busy with forming troops for the Demon King)

Michele leaves since he can tell Grisia's in a bad mood. Grisia once used lightning on Tailin after being annoyed by him too much. Tailin leaves too, claiming he's going to practice his sword. When Charlotte is about to make her escape too, Grisia asks if she really hated being in the same place as him that much. He thinks to himself that she used to like him so much that she'd steal him away even if that meant she'd make an enemy out of the entire world by doing so, yet now she always runs after Tailin!

Stunned, Grisia remembers that this isn't his Charlotte.

Charlotte retorts that Grisia's mean and keeps yelling at her. She then quiets down and asks him if it was possible that he's fallen in love with her.

Grisia immediately retorts and calls her ugly, unrefined, brazen, etc. That he would never fall in love with such a woman.

Charlotte turns away. Grisia sees her tears leak. It makes him miserable.

Grisia blames this on Lesus for making him angry. He teleports to the Holy Temple.

Floating above a corridor, Grisia greets Lesus. Next to Lesus, his vice-captain Vidar is completely shocked, but Lesus shows no change of expression. Grisia notices that Lesus looks a lot older, that he looks even more imposing than before. All he has to do is stand there, and everyone would listen to him. Grisia wonders if Lesus ever feels tired from always being alert.

Lesus asks him what he's thinking about. He doesn't ask what Grisia is here for. Grisia purposely replies that he's thinking about how Lesus is so annoying.

Vidar gets angry and yells that he has no right to say that when his captain is doing so much for Grisia.

Grisia thinks about how Vidar doesn't feel like he's matured much. Even though he's around the same age as Adair, he's always felt younger. Grisia smiles and asks Lesus about what Lesus is "doing" for him. Lesus answers that he is not the Sun that Lesus knows. He refuses to converse with the Demon King.

Angered, Grisia yells, but Lesus merely says, "What? Do you want to hit me again? I promise the same thing as last time won't happen again." Last time, Grisia slammed Lesus into a table.

Grisia yells at Lesus that if he truly comes after him, Grisia will not hold back. Lesus states that Grisia was the one who told him that he'd be waiting. Has he gone back on his words? Grisia denies this and wonders since when has Lesus' words been so aggravating?

Grisia yells that of course he can come after him, but that means holy knights will get hurt and die. Was Lesus willing to go that far just because he was angry at Grisia? Lesus' expression changes. He tells Grisia that he should know that is not the reason he's sending out the troops.

Grisia shakes his head and doesn't think on this further. He tells Lesus that he is no longer the weak Sun from before. He is the Demon King. Lesus says that he is truly not Sun at the moment. The him right now is weak while Sun is strong. Sun is responsible. Sun never chooses to run away.

Angered once again, they almost get into a fight. Grisia pauses and takes a look at himself by throwing his sight out. He is startled by what he sees. Vidar yells that they're under enemy attack. Grisia snorts and says that they won't fight here. If Lesus wants a fight, then he'll have to come to Grisia, and that all the holy knights who die on the way will all be Lesus' fault. Lesus says that he's prepared for all the blame, as this is his decision. Grisia doesn't understand why Lesus is going that far.

When Grisia leaves, he asks Lesus, "The first time I used Resurrection, I lost my eyes, the blue eyes of the Sun Knight. The second time, I lost the Sun Knight's golden hair...the third time, I even lost my holy light. What do you think the God of Light means?"

Grisia thinks the God of Light couldn't be any clearer - He doesn't want Grisia to be his Sun Knight, so why should he be so stubborn about it? Being the Demon King is so much simpler.

He teleports to his old room. Since he's already at the Holy Temple, he wonders if he should do something to disrupt their plans, perhaps burning their food so they can't set out right away. His room still looks clean, which is strange since he's never had people clean it, afraid they would discover his trap door among other things.

Someone has been cleaning his room. A young holy knight in training comes in with a bucket. He turns out to be Elaro, the boy Grisia had saved from some undead (in volume 7). Grisia had told the boy to come to the Holy Temple as he wanted him to try out for the next Sun Knight. Elaro starts screaming for help. Grisia calls his name. Elaro finally recognizes him and says, "Big sister?" as he did mistake Grisia for a woman before. Grisia corrects him and asks why Elaro is here. Elaro explains he was following Grisia's suggestion. Grisia laments that he is six years too early for the tryouts, but then Elaro might not be the right age, as he would be too old by the time tryouts began. Elaro is 8 at the moment.

But none of this should concern Grisia. Grisia then wonders who the acting Sun Knight is at the moment if both he and Adair are gone.

Some holy knights appear in the corridor, having heard Elaro's yells. Grisia asks him if he wants to stay here or leave with him. Grisia thinks to himself that it wasn't like Elaro could become the Sun Knight. He might as well come with him.

Elaro's eyes widen when he finds out exactly where Grisia plans on bringing him. Grisia flicks Elaro's eyelids because he looked too much like his teacher Neo. Elaro tells Grisia to leave before he's caught. Grisia gives him three seconds to decide and releases his hold on Elaro, letting him slip down, thinking Elaro is such a heartless bastard for not wanting to leave with Grisia when he saved him before. With one second left, Elaro twists back and hugs Grisia and says that he'll leave with him. Grisia pulls him back up and congratulates Elaro for successfully pulling apart the Demon King's waistband. He deems Elaro "hero number one". Elaro smiles.

Grisia asks Elaro if he's sure. He'll become the Demon King's underling. Elaro says it doesn't matter. He wants to come with him. Grisia is amused.

Like a Demon King, Grisia laughs evilly and says the child is now his. He blasts through the roof and thinks he even hears Blaze's screams. And then people start yelling that the Demon King has abducted a young boy. Now Grisia feels like a pervert.

Elaro begs Grisia not to blast the Twelve Holy Knights' rooms to smithereens. After seeing Elaro cry, Grisia teleports away but not before hearing Lesus yell, "Demon King! You dare..."

He didn't hear all of what Lesus said, but Elaro tells him that he said "you dare destroy Sun's room."

Short version:
Grisia's team asks about Adair, but he tells them he's just a childhood friend. Everyone can tell he's angry, so they quickly leave. Charlotte wonders if Grisia likes her. He puts her down and totally upsets her and himself. He teleports himself to the Holy Temple, blaming Lesus for this turn of events. After exchanging heated words with Lesus, Grisia teleports himself to his room and abducts Elaro.

Notes:
-Vidar is Judgment's vice-captain. Grisia often makes a pun out of his name, calling him "Radar". (Again, Vidar is not an official translation)
-Eloise is a young boy Grisia saves in volume 7 from a group of undead. The two characters in his name is part of what "Eloise" usually translates as, but without the third character, it should probably be something like..."Eloi". I think Eloise looks nicer, so I'll be referring to him as that. But again, not an official translation. He has golden hair and blue eyes. (Now revealed to be officially "Elaro")

Lucathia's thoughts:
Wow, Adair is really strong compared to normal adventurers, huh? I didn't get that impression when he was beaten by the Son of the God of War in volume 2. I guess the Son of the God of War is even stronger (and also a warrior), which is how that had happened. Sudden romance between Charlotte and Grisia! Or well, Grisia is letting this Charlotte and the previous one bleed together. I did feel the previous Charlotte's death was meaningless. If only Grisia had known their history together...! He could have prevented her from going crazy, yet he hadn't been able to help her. He killed her instead. Is this Charlotte some sort of second chance for Grisia? Well, angry Grisia goes off to confront Lesus. Their confrontation was quite awesome. And Vidar. Wow, Judgment's vice captain feels so young and inexperienced! How has he survived so far? Grisia's parting line to Judgment! He thinks the God of Light has abandoned him! Taking away his blue eyes, his golden hair, his holy light... ;____; EEee, Elaro. He seems cute. Maybe he's just what Grisia needs at the moment? Someone to take care of and protect? Haha, I am amused that Judgment cares so much about Sun's room getting destroyed.

Chapter 6: The Bright and Brilliant Smile - The Peacefulness before the Storm

Long version:
After returning to his castle, Grisia sends two undead to retrieve Adair. He asks Elaro if he likes it here. Elaro doesn't know yet. It's so dark, but it's not as scary as he imagined. Elaro smiles when Grisia says that if any undead dared to spit bones in his place, he would give them a second death. Smiling makes Elaro look different from Neo. Grisia sits down on his throne and rubs his hand over the jewel, recalling that Elaro looked a lot less cheerful before.

Elaro says it was because everyone in the village was scared, and no one was giving his sister and him food. They had almost starved. Just as Grisia was about to ask after his sister, Adair arrives with his quick but unhurried steps.

Adair immediately recognizes that Elaro is a holy knight in training. It takes a bit before he remembers that he's the boy who came to find Grisia. Storm recognized him so he had him clean Sun's room. (Probably because no one else had time, and this boy already knew his real personality).

Grisia wonders why Adair didn't immediately place Elaro. Wasn't Adair's memory good? Adair admits that he was a little out of sorts when Knight-Captain Storm returned but his captain had not.

Grisia thought that Adair would have had more of a reaction than just being a little out of sorts.

Elaro cuts in and says that he was so out of sorts that he was pretty much drifting along the corridors. People said that if they didn't bring Knight-Captain Sun back, he was going to turn from a ghost into a vengeful spirit!

Adair admits that he lost weight so people felt he looked like a ghost enough to rival Knight-Captain Cloud. This satisfies Grisia.

Adair reports on the undead they've summoned and comments on how there's a lot of evolutions among the undead that's not recorded in their books. Grisia realizes that it's "evolutions" and not all completely different undead he'd been dealing with.

Before Adair leaves to retrieve Illu, he asks if Grisia is hungry. Grisia asks Elaro who's reluctant to answer. Grisia tells him if he's hungry, say he's hungry. Not hungry, then say not hungry. Elaro honestly replies that he's not hungry, but he always wants to eat when he hears there's food. Grisia tells Adair to prepare a meal for him and some dessert for Elaro.

Now Grisia finally feels like a Demon King because he no longer has to do everything personally. Adair's taking care of all the small matters.

Illu reports that they've reached their summoning quota for the day, "you despicable person." (addressing Adair). This surprises Grisia since he's never heard anyone call Adair despicable before. He's always been very well liked. Even when he was the person who personally beat someone up, Grisia's seen Adair promise the guy that he'd find the culprit, and the guy had been so touched.

It turns out that Adair tortured Illu a bit by sharing embarrassing stories about Roland, like that one time when Roland went to the bathroom and didn't come out for an entire day. His vice captain had to burst into the toilet, wondering what was wrong. Illu tells Adair to shut up and to stop speaking, but Adair continues. Roland had forgotten how long people usually spent in the bathroom, so he asked one of the holy knights who replied that sometimes it can take more than half a day, so Roland squatted in the bathroom for the entire day.

Illu protests that Roland would never do something like that, but Grisia says that the Roland he knows is very capable of doing something like that.

Grisia commands Illu to go out and continue the show. Illu retorts "this boring business again?" Adair does not like his tone and asks if Illu wants Adair to share more stories about Roland. They almost get into a fight. Grisia stops them. Adair puts his sword down but Illu doesn't. Grisia yells at Illu and tells him Adair is Grisia's underling. No one is to harm him. Grisia blasts Illu with dark matter. Adair asks Grisia to let him finish the show. Grisia decides this is a good idea for building up Adair's name. He doesn't have to explain much at all for Adair to understand what he wants to do, much like how it used to be when Grisia had him beat people up.

With Adair around, Grisia feels a lot more relaxed. He's excited about what kind of expression Tailin, Charlotte, and Michele are going to have once they realize he's the Demon King.

He teleports back to the camp. They wonder where he's been. It's already been 3 days. He was busy overseeing Adair form the troops and with showing Elaro around. He felt very useful because Elaro looked at everything with wide eyes. Grisia almost forgot to return until Adair reminded him about it.

Tailin asks if anything happened between him and Charlotte. Grisia says they just had a small fight. Michele urges him to apologize. Grisia agrees he'll do it, surprising Michele. Tailin tells Grisia that if he likes Charlotte, he won't stand in his way. Grisia wonders if this means Tailin had just been playing around. Michele scoffs and says Tailin is in no way a player. Tailin explains that he's already told Charlotte many times that he wasn't interested in her, but she was relentless.

Now Grisia's angry again and has no intentions on apologizing. He stalks over. She's sitting under the very tree they had an argument under. He teleports over. She's not startled because he's teleported many times in front of them.

He tells her that he was wrong to call her ugly, but he's not going to apologize. Charlotte freezes and retorts that she doesn't want his apology, so what if she's ugly. Tailin doesn't like her. Grisia doesn't like her. She's not sad!

Grisia decides to stop torturing her and says that he wasn't telling the truth before, Tailin's stupid, only in love with his sword, etc. His voice trails off. Charlotte starts crying. Grisia tells her that if she stops crying, he'll show her his face. This surprises her and does stop her tears.

She says he must be ugly. Angry, he takes off his mask, keeping his eyes closed. She's surprised. She thought he said he was disfigured. She asks if he really is a guy, his skin was so smooth. Why did he lie? He answers he just felt like it. She wonders about his eye color. He tells her to guess. She guesses one gold and one silver. He calls her stupid.

It takes them two days to meet the holy knight troops. There's around 500 people in this group, which was sent via a Magic Circle (that the Pope might have learned from Pink). It is no small feat to send this many people though. Grisia wonders at the Pope's strength.

His teammates caution him on various things. He's a little annoyed. It's not like he doesn't know how to "pretend". He's pretended lots as the Sun Knight before.

A group of ten holy knights come out to meet them. Vidar is the leader of the group. Vidar glances at Grisia but Grisia thinks it might be because of the suspicious mask he's wearing. They're accepted into the troops, placed very near the center. Michele thinks this means they think highly of their strength. Grisia thinks they just wanted to keep them close because Grisia looks suspicious.

At night, Charlotte cooks. It's her birthday. They have a feast. It was a beautiful last night.

Short version:
Grisia shows Elaro around the castle. Adair prepares for the end game. Grisia returns to his team. They join up with the holy knight troops. Vidar is part of the troops. Grisia celebrates Charlotte's birthday with the team.

Lucathia's thoughts:
What happened to Elaro's sister? Is there any importance for Elaro's answer about her to be cut off like this? Eeee, Adair. He moped about when he realized his captain wasn't coming back! Aw, Elaro, always wanting to eat when food is offered. This must be a remnant from his days of starving back in the village. Haha, I love how "despicable" Adair is being towards Illu, torturing him with tales about Roland. Poor Illu...he can't win against Adair. Grisia finally feels like a Demon King thanks to Adair taking care of the small matters for him? Pfffft, Grisia...you might as well just be the Sun Knight then...you had Adair take care of everything then too! Grisia shares a small moment with Charlotte again, showing her his face under the mask. I kind of like their interactions. She throws him off. Ooo, I look forward to Vidar's role in all of this. The last part is very ominous. Last supper, anyone?

Chapter 7: Demon King VS The Church of the God of Light - Battle Between Vice-Captains

Long version:
Grisia feels a bit reluctant about having these amusing days end. He would not have minded if they continued forever, but his hand has been forced. He calls out. "Come, Adair! Let's end this game."

Under attack, holy knights get into formation. Even Grisia has not seen such an impressive sight before. Three holy knights tell the adventurer teams to leave at once. Mid strength and up teams can stay and support them if they wish. They will receive money according to their strength.

Grisia suggests for them to stay and fight. It's easy money, and if the holy knights do actually lose, it's not like they can outrun the undead creatures. Tailin shouts when he discovers the undead creatures lining up in formation. A black knight leads them.

Grisia is impressed with what Adair's accomplished in such a short time. The three holy knights turn to go back to help. Michele comments that it looks like they aren't needed. Grisia retorts that they are needed. The holy knights left in case the team wanted to decline but found it too hard to in front of their face. Michele thinks Grisia understands them a lot. Grisia fibs and says they're holy knights. Everyone understands them. Charlotte reminds the guys that Grisia is from the Kingdom of Forgotten Sound.

The holy knights hear the name "Grisia" and stop. The middle one Grisia recognizes as one of Storm's, so he might know Grisia's name. The three holy knights come back and ask Grisia to remove his mask. Even though they "asked", their attitude isn't very deferential. Storm's platoon has never respected Grisia much as he always threw work at Ceo and then they would have to do part of that work too, from paperwork to collecting information and gossip...

Grisia refuses to take off his mask. Michele apologizes for him. His teammates try to convince him to take the mask off.

The black knight appears in front of them as Grisia commanded Adair to come over and deal the hero a blow after the undead troops got into formation. Tailin is unable to compete against Adair even with the help of three holy knights. Grisia falls Adair with wind magic.

At this time, Vidar comes with backup. It becomes a battle between the Sun Knight vice-captain and the Judgment Knight vice-captain.

Grisia doesn't know who's stronger, but he thinks he recalls that they're good friends.

It looks like Adair is stronger. Grisia is not surprised as Georgo has once told him that it's a miracle Adair is willing to follow him given how strong Adair is.

Grisia wonders if he's wrong about their friendship, as Adair is not at all holding back.

His teammates urge him to help. Grisia agrees, gathers dark element, and blasts Michele. Grisia takes his mask off and opens his eyes. No one understands what he's doing.

Charlotte wonders why his eyes are completely black. Grisia face faults, since she's supposed to be yelling, "You're the Demon King?!"

It would be so lame for Grisia to have to explain that he's the Demon King. At this time, Adair blasts the people around him and kneels in front of Grisia, calling him his majesty. Grisia is pleased that Adair can read the situation so well.

Grisia starts absorbing the dark element around him. His teammates are stunned. Grisia grabs Charlotte and flies into the air. Tailin wonders what's gone into him. Grisia replies that there was never a mage called Grisia. He was always just playing around. Grisia sees that Vidar has started glancing at the black knight. He's probably guessed at his identity.

The Storm Knight platoon member yells that the Church of the God of Light would never condone the summoning of undead creatures (Grisia swears, since he didn't summon them until Lesus sent his troops. the previous undead troop was Roland's, not his!). The knight also claims that the Demon King is misusing the Sun Knight's name.

The Storm Knight platoon member didn't recognize him? Grisia decides to put this on Ceo's tab.

Grisia commands Adair to kill everyone except for Tailin. Adair asks if he wants to grab someone and make him his guard. Grisia asks who Adair would choose. The strongest person around was Vidar. Adair immediately points to Vidar and says that Vidar is the strongest. If he is not loyal, than permit Adair to kill him later.

Grisia is amazed at how ruthless Adair can be.

Grisia is about to deal a blow to Vidar when he gets hit by the girl in his arms, Charlotte. He reassures her that he's not hurting Tailin. Charlotte tells him that doesn't matter. She just doesn't want him to kill. If he kills, then he truly will be the Demon King.

Grisia yells that he is the Demon King. Even the God of Light has dictated it so.

Charlotte tells him to wake up. Tailin tells Grisia to let Charlotte go. She has nothing to do with this. Grisia scoffs. Everyone has something to do with this, as the Demon King exists to save the majority. Not the minority.

Grisia commands Adair to slay everyone. Let's see how Lesus will react after 500 holy knights die.

Grisia tells Vidar that he is too stupid. He should not have come personally. Vidar talks back, asking why the Sun Knight is not taking care of his Holy Temple. Tailin tries to calm Grisia down. Don't kill him!

What do you know? You think I don't want to return?

Adair asks Grisia through telepathy if he should start the attack. Grisia gives the order. He leaves, laughing, thinking that now Lesus will no longer be able to bring him back.

Short version:
Grisia summons Adair. A storm knight recognizes Grisia's name and asks him to take his mask off. Adair comes to fight Tailin. Grisia reveals that he's the Demon King. He orders Adair to slay all 500 holy knights. He takes Tailin, Vidar, and Charlotte as his prizes.

Lucathia's thoughts:
Damn, Grisia, if you don't want to end your time with the adventurer team, then don't! Don't betray them! But Grisia calling Adair over to end the game is also very delicious, eeee. Oooh, Adair with the armor. Black General! Whoot! A storm knight recognizing Grisia's name! Haha! And he's not at all respectful because the Sun Knight has always thrown too much work at Ceo, hahaha. Pft, oh Grisia...it is lame to have to spell out for everyone that you're the Demon King even after you've taken off your mask and revealed your black eyes. Good thing Adair can read the situation so well. Fight between the vice-captains! <33333 I LOVE IT.

Chapter 8: The Call of Light; The Darkness that Cannot be Seen - Oracle

Long version:
Grisia summons Alice. Charlotte wonders if Grisia really did abduct a princess. Alice is very pretty. Alice exclaims that this is the first time Grisia has stolen a girl. She'll for sure dress her up nicely!

Tailin tries to convince Grisia to let Charlotte go. Grisia commands for the two guys to get thrown in the jail room. Tailin struggles all the way but Vidar is oddly quiet.

Grisia waves Alice over. She plops her baby in his arms, the "handsomest" one. He asks her if Awaitsun has returned yet. He has not. Grisia wonders if Alice is angry at him for sealing Awaitsun's speech. She is not since he can still communicate to her via telepathy as she is also part of the Cathedral of the Shadow God. This way, he can't communicate with other girls, so it was quite perfect. Grisia wonders if Awaitsun wouldn't be better off divorcing her.

Grisia leaves Charlotte with Alice. She can look after the kids with her. He prepares to leave to find Awaitsun. Alice cautions him not to kill Awaitsun. Anything else is fine. Grisia reassures her that he won't kill him. Otherwise Adair would die from overworking.

Grisia realizes she's tough. She's also been using skeletons to look after the kids since all the human servants have long run off. Grisia decides that she's tougher than any Demon King. He gives her the title "Princess of Darkness". He then tells her to find Scarlet for underlings to tidy the place up.

Alice asks if she may enter the treasury too. Grisia lets her, since it's not like she can take stuff out of the place.

Alice cheers "long live the demon king!" This makes him spit his wine. He tells her to call Scarlet over for him. After she leaves, Charlotte asks him who Scarlet is. He realizes that he'll probably have two fearless women to deal with after he returns.

Grisia teleports himself to Kissinger. He finds out that Awaitsun wrote a missive to the king, telling him to hand the prince over in three months time, or else Awaitsun would storm the city. He makes no mention of killing the prince. Scarlet didn't report this since it didn't go against Grisia's wishes, but Grisia almost busts a blood vessel because now the king must know it's not Awaitsun's fault but the Demon King's.

Scarlet tells Grisia she plans on teaching Alice and Charlotte some necromancy. She also asks him if he has plans on taking them on as his wife. Grisia says that Alice is Awaitsun's wife! Scarlet wonders what that has to do with anything. He's the Demon King! Grisia then tells her that Charlotte likes Tailin, not him. Again, Scarlet wonders, "So what? You're the Demon King!" She reveals that past Demon Kings have stolen any and all women they wanted, from princesses to queens to mothers...

Grisia protests that he's not a pervert.

Scarlet is unhappy. She wants him to have lots of kids. This way they'll grow up and protect him. She doesn't want to see his power fade away, and then...

Grisia wanders around town to check current conditions. He buys himself two cans of chocolate but can't find any blueberry desserts. (He thinks about how his kitchen does produce blueberry desserts for him, so Kissinger cannot not have blueberry desserts, but maybe it's just his castle). He settles with a strawberry lollipop.

He teleports inside the castle.

The king is talking with one of his men. A knight tries to convince the king to let him go in the prince's steed. The king turns him down, saying they cannot risk the Demon King's anger. Grisia finds out that the prince is not home. He is known for leaving the palace under disguise. The king wonders if the knight is hiding the prince's whereabouts. The knight swears he is not. The king believes him. Scarlet tells Grisia that Awaitsun mentioned that the prince must have left to prevent himself from getting killed by the Demon King as he is the only prince of the kingdom.

The king orders everyone to search for the prince. The queen frets about handing her son over. Look at what happened to Awaitsun! He can no longer speak. He ended up like that despite being the Demon King's underling. What would befall her son once he's in the Demon King's hands?

The king says that Awaitsun will help him. Grisia discovers they are friends. Awaitsun and the prince.

The king says that "he" is the best candidate for the Demon King like what Awaitsun claimed, except he just doesn't understand why he suddenly wants to kill the prince. They should not have met before. The queen thinks maybe he's trying to hurt Awaitsun, but the king believes "he" didn't know about their friendship. They wonder if he's mistreating Alice.

Grisia rolls his eyes and asks Scarlet if previous Demon Kings were scarier than him. Scarlet says no. Just more stubborn. A tantrum can destroy entire buildings or kill off people. Grisia again believes it's because the liches spoiled their children.

Scarlet muses that Grisia truly didn't get affected much by the power. But she becomes sad as her previous children always slowly became crazier and crazier...but maybe the God of Light will help Grisia, as Grisia is His Sun Knight. She comments that He was the one who brought him back to lucidity when he went crazy (beginning of volume 7).

Grisia blanks out. (We were led to believe that Scarlet was the one who woke him)

"Child, you may not sleep anymore. You still have much to do. Stop sleeping. Time to wake up. Wake up!"

Grisia pays Awaitsun a visit. He's handling paperwork. When he notices Grisia, he immediately kneels down. "You didn't attack." Awaitsun tries to explain that the prince was not in the city. Grisia shuts him up and commands him to return to the castle and await orders from Adair. Awaitsun hurriedly pleads that he only needs a little more time. Grisia tells him it's no longer necessary. He knows where the prince is. Grisia hears Awaitsun's heart speed up and he asks him if he's worried for the prince. Awaitsun says no, but then he says yes, the prince is the only prince of the kingdom. And also one of his few friends.

Grisia smiles and compliments that Awaitsun has become smarter. Grisia brings Awaitsun to the jail room where Vidar and Tailin are. Grisia tells Tailin that he's brought him a friend. Tailin asks Awaitsun if he told him. Awaitsun shakes his head. Alarmed, Tailin asks if he can no longer speak. Lazily, Grisia tells him that he sealed Awaitsun's speech, so sadly he cannot converse with him.

Angry, Tailin yells at Grisia. What did he do to you to deserve this?

Coldly, Grisia replies that Awaitsun killed Leaf when they first met. This shuts Tailin up. Awaitsun looks at Grisia with an odd expression. Tailin thought Grisia already had his revenge. Grisia says he's not a big hearted guy. He even named Awaitsun to wait for Sun's revenge.

Awaitsun also thinks Grisia already had his revenge. Grisia answers in the negative. Don't think you can get off so lightly for killing one of the Twelve Holy Knights. This makes Awaitsun smile bitterly. He urges Grisia to let Tailin go as he has not wronged Grisia. Grisia says that all three kingdoms have wronged him. They attacked the Holy Temple while he was asleep.

Awaitsun asks Grisia why he is taking revenge for the Holy Temple when he's already turned his back on the Holy Temple. Grisia answers that he has turned his back on them, but that doesn't mean other people can look down on them. This makes everyone smile. Angry, Grisia blasts magic at them. Dark element rushes in to replace what he used. Scarlet loses a leg. Awaitsun is hurt the most. Tailin is also hurt but not as much since Awaitsun blocked most of it.

Grisia warns Awaitsun that if Awaitsun dares to lose to Lesus, he will cut Tailin's fingers off one by one. He hears Awaitsun's heartbeat quicken. Even Tailin pales. Awaitsun tries to tell Grisia that it's impossible to win every single battle. Grisia doesn't care.

Grisia warns Tailin not to think about suicide. He still has Charlotte in his custody too. This makes Tailin pale. Grisia says that he'll send people after Michele too since Tailin doesn't seem to be interested in Charlotte.

Tailin refuses to believe Grisia would do something like this. Grisia asks if he wants him to cut off one of his fingers right away to demonstrate. Awaitsun quickly covers Tailin's mouth to prevent him from speaking more. He then tells Grisia that he will win every single battle.

Short version:
Grisia promotes Alice to "Princess of Darkness" and leaves Charlotte with her. He visits Kissinger and discovers the prince is not in the city and that Awaitsun has dallied the entire time. Realizing who the "prince" is, Grisia returns to his castle and confronts Tailin.

Lucathia's thoughts:
Hah, Princess of Darkness. Alice is quite strong. Now both she and Charlotte are going to learn necromancy! Oh dear. Hm, so we finally get to see Awaitsun again after 7 chapters. Oh, he and the prince are friends? The prince likes to disguise himself? Ahhh, that means he has to be "that character" and pffft, Grisia already has him captured! Okay yup, the prince is Tailin like I thought. The God of Light was the one who pulled Grisia back to lucidity! :O I was completely led to think those lines were spoken by Scarlet. This changes things. This means Grisia is entirely wrong that the God of Light abandoned him / doesn't want him to be his Sun Knight. Ah, so Grisia is treating Awaitsun so badly...because he's still exacting his revenge? He sure never forgives transgressions. Wow. It does speak about how much Grisia still cares about the Holy Temple. He's just blowing everything out of proportion though!

Chapter 9: The Defeated Light; The Crawling Darkness - Hopelessness

Long version:
Grisia laments that he can't clearly remember the God of Light's voice even though that may have been the first and only time he'd be able to hear His voice. Grisia wonders if he was woken up in order to become the Demon King to save the world. Fine. He'll do it.

Elaro has been given new clothes and does not at all look like a bad guy, and sadly he would rather stab himself than stab someone else. Elaro asks if they must go to war. Wouldn't everything be solved if Grisia returned to being the Sun Knight?

Grisia says that is no longer possible. He already had Adair kill 500 holy knights.

Elaro is disheartened about those 500 holy knights. He mopes so much that Grisia yells at him to stop moping or else scram (back to the Holy Temple). What was 500 holy knights? If they fought for real, 500 was nothing.

Adair, Illu, and Awaitsun approach, as well as Alice and Charlotte. The women's presence surprises Awaitsun. Grisia tells him to be careful or else Alice will usurp his position. This makes Awaitsun smile. Grisia counts his underlings. Six people. What a small number. Twelve would be nice.

Adair reports that the Church of the God of Light has declared war. This shocks Grisia. He thought killing 500 men would stop them. Grisia is enraged. For what reason did he become the Demon King? He teleports.

He soon finds the army, using his elemental sensing to find the main tent. Inside he spots the Twelve Holy Knights and is taken aback when he find there are twelve. Who has...replaced him? He enters and finds Elijah there, which doesn't make much sense.

Grisia asks Elijah what he's doing. He answers that someone has to pretend to be the Sun Knight, otherwise people would wonder why the Sun Knight did not join in with battling the Demon King.

Grisia answers that it's too bad he has no intention of returning to be the Sun Knight.

Lesus asks after Vidar.

Grisia answers that he doesn't know. He might've died after getting thrown in the jail room.

Grisia asks if he should off Vidar as an offering for the upcoming battle. Lesus tells him to do as he wishes. This throws Grisia off. Lesus replies that he did not put faith in Vidar's being alive, not after Grisia killed off 500 knights.

Chikus accuses Grisia. "You said you would never harm holy knights! Why?"

Grisia yells back that they forced his hand. Ceo yells that he promised them he would return to be the Sun Knight. Roland says he shouldn't have let Grisia become the Demon King.

Grisia claims that he has not lost himself. He just sees more clearly now. Aivis Stone wonders what exactly Grisia sees more clearly now. That it doesn't matter if he harms holy knights just like that?

Just like that? Grisia thinks to himself that he had to consider protecting the majority. He had to sacrifice them for the larger safety, yet they still didn't heed his warning.

Lesus takes out the Divine Sun Sword and tries to get Grisia to take it. Grisia tries to get him to give up. Even if he takes the sword, those 500 men would still be dead. Lesus asks Grisia if he would give up on any of them if their situations were reversed. Grisia would never. Was this why they weren't giving up on him, because they knew he would not give up on them?

He takes the sword. Everyone becomes hopeful. Light and dark battle within Grisia, but 500 men is no small matter. Grisia states that he's not giving up on any one of them. He's giving up on them all. Everyone starts gathering holy light against him, but it's no use. Not even the Divine Sun Sword is enough to counter his dark element. Everyone starts piling on Grisia to prevent him from escaping the holy light. Grisia yells for them to let go. Why did they want him to return? Do they really hate it when he has power?

Elijah tells him to shut up. He has no idea how much each of them has done for him.

Why was no one giving up on him?

Grisia murmurs, "Please, help me..."

Elmairy and Ecilan ask if he's recovered. Grisia complains that he's getting squashed. They let up, but Grisia blasts them away immediately and laughs at them for falling for that. There was nothing to recover from. He is Grisia.

They say that Grisia isn't this kind of person. Grisia snorts and asks Storm if he wasn't Ceo. Who was Ceo? A carefree flirt? You try recovering from that!

Lesus yells "enough" and says that if even the Divine Sun Sword is not enough to wake him up, then they will stop treating him as Sun. They will stop trying to get him to come back. Grisia feels like his heart is about to stop. He tells everyone to scram home, but they refuse to do so.

Lesus raises the Divine Sun Sword and says the battle will now be revenge for their 500 fallen comrades instead of for bringing the Sun Knight home. This stuns Grisia. He announces that he might as well kill Lesus now before he brings his men to die meaningless deaths. Roland and all the other knights block Grisia.

Grisia leaves and says he'll be waiting if that's what they want.

Short version:
Grisia pays the Twelve Holy Knights a visit. Elijah has been pretending to be the Sun Knight. They try getting Grisia to take the Divine Sun Sword. He pretends to revert back to "Sun" but then blasts everyone away. Lesus gives up on getting Sun back, but he declares that the army will continue to march for the sake of the 500 fallen men. This infuriates Grisia as they will all die meaningless deaths.

Lucathia's thoughts:
Grisia still very much wants to be surrounded by his brothers. He even thinks having 6 people around is too little. He wants twelve! *watches Grisia teleport away* He is so abusing that, haha. He's just flitting here and there! Everywhere in this book! Oo, confrontation with the 12. Oh wait, who's taken Sun's spot? Eehhh, Elijah? Hm, I suppose...at least that's a name we know, and he was technically one of the Twelve Holy Knights. Quite poetic that the Hell Knight rumored to be a double of the Sun Knight is now pretending to be the Sun Knight. Do the others know about how he used to be Hell, or is that still a well kept secret only Grisa and Lesus (and maybe Roland) know? Grisia...he's completely afraid that they will give up on him one day. Oh Grisia.

seeing charlotte cry like that .. makes me wonder if she's sun's charlotte. in that case, perhaps she remembers him? but then i wouldn't understand her crush on tailin (maybe her crush resulted from him saving her?)

the atmosphere when sun and judgment talk to each other seems .. heated/strained. i think jugdment is being cold on purpose, while sun intentionally provokes him (so that he'll hate him and won't pursue him any further?). i don't exactly understand why judgment acts that way though .. perhaps he uses reverse psychology to make sun want to come back?
that last remark from sun was so heart-breaking. but it's interesting, because he showed his doubts to judgment. showing his weakness to an enemy. it's like a silent cry for help.
but i also like how even though they're enemies, sun is still relatively friendly to others (i think he's even friendlier to others than in his sun knight-persona lmao)

when eloise mentioned adair's state after sun became the demon king, i knew something was up. if he was blindly loyal, he would have followed him immediately, but being confused first and leaving later? he had to be plotting something.

and roland ... omg roland is such an adorable dork. forgetting how long one uses the toilet? priceless. illu being provoked/embarrassed over that? even more priceless.

and that moment between sun and charlotte .. aww. i feel like she does like him (what i really hope). and she doesn't want him to kill/become the demon king? she tells him to wake up? does she know something we don't?

i must say, sun surely is very confused. what's the point in going to meet your enemy? and why is he shocked at judgment's declaration of war? is he sad because they gave him up or because he doesn't want them to die at his hands (or both)?

i can only guess why lesus is so cold, but i feel that sun's confusion came out really well. threatening and provoking him on purpose and being provoked instead lmao

i know <33 i love how roland's so clueless about everything

i'm pretty sure that's it. otherwise why would his heart drop when lesus wants to have revenge? and lol about him abusing his teleportation magic (though i guess in the end, he can't really use that anymore .. unless he learns how to teleport a group of people)

hmm somehow i didn't read about charlotte being a priest. seeing that the god of light had a hand in sun becoming the demon king .. it's possible that he saved charlotte as well, but stripped her off her identity (because he maybe felt bad about manipulating sun). it's possible that she likes sun, however not to this extent that she cries when he hurts her unless there was something before.
and her saying 'wake up' and her overall behaviour while being with sun, i'm pretty sure there's something ..
if above is true and the god of light did save her, that'd explain why she's a cleric. iirc she was a dark priest necromancer something before (dark magic), and now a cleric (holy magic). see what i'm trying to hint at? lol
and later on when the lichs wants to teach them necromancy .. i *think* someone said before that using both holy and dark magic is very difficult (unless you're sun lol). i'm sure that charlotte'll be able to use it because of her former aptitude for dark magic.

which reminds me .. there are multiple types of clerics/priests (who specialize in different things), wouldn't that make her one of the light god's clerics? because i can't imagine her as a warrior priest (the ones from the war god) and she can't be a dark priest.
(omg i'm trying the whole time to blend her in with sun's charlotte *headdesk* and it's not even on purpose)
