All right, looks like I've settled on my NaNoWriMo project. I will be sticking to "Lhordata" after all, also known as Tekatme's (Not-So) Excellent Adventures. XD; I already do not like my writing. Since I want to make this be able to stand alone without last year's NaNo as background, I'm dedicating the prologue to establishing some of Tekatme's character traits and what he's experienced before he heads to Lhordata. I finally named Ikatchi's home (so if I ever write Part 2 it would now be titled Fendron) but I wonder if that name even sounds like it's from the same 'verse. Probably sounds more like a name of a person... but no one's named with such conventions in this story, so that should be okay... Am now trying to figure out what this entire world is called.
I'm aiming for this to be young adult, with my main focus of this being a coming of age story, so yay self discovery! This will not be a terribly exciting story, but at least Tekatme's voice should be fun. ._____. I'm going to write with logical divisions instead of just spewing words out without a destination like I did last year. (It was very difficult to divide my writing into chapters last year when I was formatting my NaNo for printing because there was no logical division!) I might post by chapters here in my LJ if I manage to finish them, but I'll probably be jumping around with my writing if I get stuck on chapters, so I won't be finishing them in order. :3 I have only managed to plot up to chapter 2 so far though...
I managed to (barely) write over 1667 words yesterday. Now that it's past midnight, it's a whole new day, another 1,667 words to go... But no writing for me until after I sleep and come back from work. I also need to figure out what the heck I wrote yesterday because I'm not sure it makes sense. (building off of something that doesn't make sense? that will only lead to disaster...or at least a huge mess and a plot that trips over itself)
Cannot wait until the NaNo site has widgets for keeping track of word count! Also, this year CreateSpace is offering 5 free copies of our books for winners. How awesome is that? *___* My book from last year's NaNo story! One book was certainly not enough. XD
Good luck to everyone who's participating this year! I will be spamming my flist with a lot of talk about NaNo this November. ^^;;

Date: 2011-11-02 11:45 am (UTC)I never have anything useful to contribute to NaNo discussions, but I do so love reading these, um, behind-the-scenes ramblings. They're really interesting, so I'm really looking forward to more of Lucathia's NaNo talk. :D Good luck good luck!!

Date: 2011-11-02 03:42 pm (UTC)Sounds like you're off to a good start on your story! Coming of age is always an enjoyable time to read about so I'm sure it will be the same to write.
I'm not going to post my chapters I don't think 'cause I do like to jump around... and I have to re-triple check everything to make sure there aren't any continuity errors.
Lunch break right now from school. Then it's back to work and then the grocery store and then some writing.
Spam my flist away!! Kane the Motivator will keep you up to date with all of my NaNo craziness. XD

Date: 2011-11-03 01:16 am (UTC)I still need to write today, oh dear. I wonder if I'll manage to at least make the minimum today with the few hours I have left!
I seem to be jumping around a bit too (I usually don't do that much though) but not too far, just one chapter ahead at the moment. :3
You are making such awesome progress!!
Hehe, now that's a lovely smile from Kane in your icon. XD *continues to spam about NaNo*

Date: 2011-11-03 03:06 am (UTC)GOOD LUCK LUCATHIA! You can do it! And there's plenty of time to make up a short day!
I got quite lucky today actually. I ended up subbing for HS health class where all they were going to be was taking a test or homework on their own so I brought my computer and kept watch as I typed. Good thing I can type w/o looking at the screen and know where I am. The students were also on edge 'cause they knew I was actually watching them. Tomorrow is 3rd grade so now writing in the middle of the day for me XD
His smile is his charm point. Love it! *is being spammed with NaNo from three different people* It's awesome to hear how people are doing on a regular basis!
I see challenge and I think CONQUEST. This is what is happening to me w/ NaNoWriMo. But I really think it's because I'm trying to make time early so I can get that Hetalia fic going before the mid-point check in at the end of November.

Date: 2011-11-03 04:57 am (UTC)I have around 400 words for today. Going to try writing some more, but I wonder if I'll be able to write another 1200+ before I give up for the day. XD
Oh wow, multi-tasking skills. When I write, I need to pay complete attention to my writing, or else it would turn out pretty shoddy. XD Don't think I'd be able to keep watch on kids while writing! :3
Hehe, I keep checking to see how much my writing buddies have accomplished so far. XD; Everyone's currently making good progress mostly! Makes me want to catch up all the more. I should have more time tomorrow to write... as long as I don't distract myself!
YES, CONQUEST. We shall all conquer NaNo! \o/ I do want to be above the wordcount I should be at since I know there'll be some days when I won't be able to write...

Date: 2011-11-03 10:48 pm (UTC)I have crazy multi-tasking skills for writing and doing other things. But not at all with talking on the phone or Yahoo IMing and doing other things. I have to focus on my conversations. But I can only type on days with upper level high school taking tests. Otherwise I just write in a journal during lunchtime :)
It probably helps a lot too when you know exactly how a scene is going to goSix fighters vs. Yanagi the Wind Sage in a battle - epic.So far I only have you as a writing buddy! :) But I do check to see how far you've gone because it motivates me too!
*shoves distractions away* They're distracting lol. But it's so hard sometimes! I... feel... drained today. I've never subbed at this school district before, but I assumed that it would be your average 4th grade class. It was not TT It was a reminder of my HS Gym class - lots of dramatic arguing over petty things, lots of blaming people for etc, lots of blurting out contributions to conversations they're not a part of... And the really strange thing was that their actual teacher is apparently like a drill sergeant and they would never dare to move an inch with him around. Maybe the teacher was too serious so I appeared as a breath of fresh air?
The 'food web' 4th grade class was <3 <3 <3 I think that their normal teacher just has clear rules and guidelines and consequences, but is not so serious that they're scared. Those are the best teachers to sub for because there are hardly any problems and you can have fun with the kids and know they'll respect you and forgive you if you "don't do everything exactly like the normal teacher".
*end rant*
CONQUEST. I'll make us both a banner that says we have conquered NaNo and post it at the end of this madness. It will be AWESOME.
I also feel that the official picture for the movie '300' represents how I feel about NaNo quite well. And part of me wants to put Kane there as the main character! *bats away Photoshop distraction with the Tarundoru bat*
*gives you good luck for today* :D

Date: 2011-11-04 07:21 am (UTC)I'm terrible with talking or listening and trying to do something else at the same time... phone and IM conversations need my complete attention. Aw, I envy that you know exactly how a scene is going to go. XD; I need that to happen more with my writing! Six fighters vs. Wind Sage Yanagi sounds epic indeed.
I can't help but input my word count throughout the day even when I haven't written much more than what I had before. XD; *totally wasting time like that* I barely managed to reach Day 3's word count, but I inched over the par line!
I felt very sleepy earlier and thought that I'd take a nap... but I wasn't really sleepy... just didn't want to write. But yesterday I was drained! Ah, that 4th grade class sounds like a handful. That's behavior I would expect from a lower grade (it happens a lot, those type of petty things...). It might be like what you said, that because their normal teacher is so strict, your way of doing things seems so much more lax that they thought they could act out more.
Hehe, I subbed for a 4th grade class this week! (my brother's actually) And food chains appeared. Made me remember your post about your experience drawing food webs. The class and I came up with one strange food chain.
I LOOK FORWARD TO THAT BANNER. I want it already. XD;

Date: 2011-11-04 07:23 am (UTC)Agreed! I'm awed by people who can easily write 2000 words daily. *____*
Printed copy = huge motivator! I hope to be able to print this year's attempt too. :D
