My copy of Dragon Soul came yesterday, along with some other stuff I ordered (sock garters for my cosplay and a cute Locke, Celes, and Terra from this person). I ordered the book on the 9th because I totally forgot about the release date until I saw the exited, flailing posts in
thremedon about it...even though I had been anticipating the book all year. I couldn't believe how fast shipping was when I chose super saver shipping. It only took two days!
I immediately began to read and would have continued reading if I hadn't had to visit relatives. When I came back, I picked up where I left off and read until 6 AM. I was going to make some post saying how I was going to drop off the internet for the weekend to read, but I already finished the book.
I was grinning almost throughout the whole novel. I love Thom so much. ♥ In the first novel, Havemercy, I could not stop myself from likening Thom and Rook to Yagyuu and Niou, hahaha. (I must have read one too many fic and doujinshi where Yagyuu and Niou are in such situations where Yagyuu, the more scholarly one, tries to figure Niou out, where Niou is quite the charismatic bastard). It was like I had found a book version of Yagyuu. My impression of Thom in this book is much different though, but OMG, how I adored him.
For those of you who haven't read Havemercy before, there are three books in the universe so far. I always mention that there are metal dragons and gay magicians when I introduce the book. XD; The characters' voices are captivating and so very vivid. Each novel has four main protagonists through which we experience the story. Their knowledge of happenings is limited, which can be pretty fascinating when things come together. It's like fitting the pieces of a puzzle together. :3 The plot isn't the best paced, but I'm really there for the characters and the universe they live in.
( more spoilerish flailing )
Now I'm dying for more of Thom. :'D I should try my hand at writing him.
