lucathiaI skimmed most of the manhua again yesterday to try to get a better feel for Storm. I so can't write him! He's shy, bad with women, always bombarded with paperwork, usually patient... but he's also always had to pretend he's a flirt, he knows all about gossip, he smiles dangerously when he's angry, he's lost his temper at Sun a few times... I seem to only be able to write him with his outer appearance or him being angry. =/
I got stuck with my writing, so I ended up reading the prequel to Legend of Sun Knight. (finally read it!) I believe there's a second volume to it. I so want to know what happens next! This prequel is set way back before the 1st generation of knights is formed. It was quite fascinating to read about the beginning of the kingdom, and the two characters the story follows have hilarious interaction. I want to see the rest of the 1st generation! Yu Wo also posted Leaf's side story "Beloved Voodoo Doll" recently. It is so much love because Leaf and Judgment go on a mission together! *flails*
All that aside, main point of this entry was that I took some pics of my Legend of Sun Knight merchandise. ;) I also took pics of my 1/2 Prince merchandise, but that would've made this entry super long, so I'll include those pics in the next entry.

Also from the 4th manhua bundle was this huge bag. Don't know what I'm going to use it for... maybe I'll put all my LSK merchandise in there, haha. Christmas-y Sun, Blaze, Leaf, and Earth! I love how Earth looks here. :3
Back of the bag. I wonder why Storm's with Ice and Judgment... maybe because his hair is cool colored? XD Gosh, everyone from the good, warm faction are smiling but of course Judgment and Ice can't smile. Poor them!

Manhua + novel side story from the 4th bundle. This side story was the one about Storm owing Sun a favor. :3 The manhua contains the end of volume 2 of the manhua.
6th manhua bundle~! So cute! This is a clearfile/portfolio thing. I don't think I'll be using it since I'm afraid I'd damage it!

The manhua and side story that came with the 6th bundle~. The side story is about Blaze... kicking down doors. XD; The manhua concludes the first volume of the novel, with Sun and everyone in the King's chambers battling Roland. Darn, I wish I'd gotten the 5th bundle (it was sold out), because I'm missing a chunk of the story. :'D (the 4th bundle ends with Sun realizing the Death Knight is Roland, and then the 6th bundle picks up with them in the chambers already...) I was super excited to see that Adair has some panels here! \o/ I don't think he was mentioned in the novel during this portion (was he?) but he gets a panel and a line here. XD;
I also bought volume 1 and 2 of the manhua (compiled versions of bundles 1-4). :3;; So useful to have for reference! The manhua shows some different POVs from time to time that we don't get from Grisia's account in the novels. I'm guessing that bundle 5 and 6 will be reprinted as volume 3, so 3 volumes of the manhua concluded 1 volume of the novels~. so that'll make around... 24 manhua volumes to illustrate the entire story if they keep the same pacing, since there are 8 novels? Wow.

Volume 4 is so awesome that it even has drawings of each of the holy knights. So this was where these images came from. I've seen these images floating around, but I didn't know where they were from. :3

And that was it for the novels! Volume 4-6 were so worth it. I can't wait until volume 8 comes out. I hope it comes out soon. It's supposed to be the last volume, and it was supposed to come out this year, but Yu Wo seems to have some trouble with it. She updated her blog to say that she doesn't know if she can conclude the story within one volume. (I sure wouldn't mind if the story became longer!)

I KNOW RIGHT? She wrote this prequel (now two volumes?) in 2010 or 2009 I think... but her other works were coming out at the same time too. I tried to see if she posted any more of the prequel, and she did! It was some teasers for the new volume called, "The number is twelve." Hm, Adair does feature fairly prominently in volume 2, and Roland too... I suppose they even had more screen time than many of the other 12 Holy Knights... :3 And yesss, Adair's pretty awesome and Roland's story is saaad.

The stores don't ship these overseas though, so you would need to get a person to go in between for you, like a special buying agent/middle man.

Date: 2013-10-12 05:36 am (UTC)The manhua chapters included with the bundles are eventually published as full volumes, so the bundle is really only good for the extra goodies and the side story (though Yu Wo does post the side stories in her blog half a year later).
Pfft, I jinxed myself super bad. XD;; Not only have I bought all of Yu Wo's works, I've also bought them twice in some cases... Like LSK and 1/2 Prince... Two different versions...
I doubt we'll see an official English translation of Yu Wo's works. Even the Japanese light novel English market is very small. I don't think publishers are even considering Taiwan at all...
For PR!'s contest, you get to choose your reward. XD;; Probably a sneak peak of a chapter or two or a tour of PR. Your choice, as long as it is reasonable. XDDDD;;;

I don't know of any comics originating from Taiwan that have been published in English... There aren't a lot of Chinese mangaka out there compared to Japanese mangaka, and they're relatively unknown in comparison too. I know that Korean manhwa has been translated to English, but still, it is a much smaller number in comparison to Japanese manga. I don't think publishers are willing to take the chance. The English manga market is not doing all that great (not enough for them to take risks like this).
Well, depending on how many submissions we get by that time... we'll see? XD;; But it is also around the time when my break starts, so I would like to look at stuff before my break ends. =P

That's the reprint of the novels. The previous artist for the covers was Ya Sha. This new edition features art by J.U. Only one volume has been released so far, but the plan is to rerelease all of the volumes. I've bought this new edition too. It has nice printing and some extra art in the middle too. The same art is also used for a simplified Chinese version of the novels. I believe all eight volumes of that have already been released, but they don't include insert art.

Date: 2013-10-13 07:37 pm (UTC)Border fees...? Where do you live? I don't know about border fees, but shipping is fairly expensive. You are only allowed to choose one type of shipping. It's a very fast shipping, haha, so it's nice in that way... You'd get your stuff in three days or so. Shipping on books.com.tw is slightly cheaper than kingstone.com.tw if you only buy one or two volumes. If you're buying a lot, then either site is around the same. Sometimes, you'll be paying more for shipping than for the books. (So if you're buying a book that is 200 TWD, it's not impossible for the shipping to be 300 TWD. For Kingstone, the lowest shipping starts at is 500 TWD or so.) The sites will calculate the actual shipping once you put the items in your shopping cart and choose your country.
