Level E

Winter anime season has started! I fell behind with watching some anime from the previous season, but I'll be blogging about that separately sometime... if I ever finish watching those series, haha. XD



First episode of Level E is out! I don't know what most of the other winter anime series are about, but I was looking forward to this one. It surprised me that there'd ever be an anime adaption of Level E. The manga is so old now, and it isn't all that long either. The manga this is based on is by Togashi Yoshihiro, mangaka of Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter, and it was finished in... 1997 or so? Before After(?) Yu Yu Hakusho. For some reason, I always thought the manga would be very dark (I hadn't read it), but when I heard there'd be an anime adaption, I finally read parts of the manga. The humor really surprised me. I didn't think this would be a comedic sci-fi series. (ETA: there are some fairly dark parts too though. I wonder what the anime will turn out like)

So the premise is... a fairly normal high schooler moves to Tokyo because of baseball and finds an amnesic alien prince hiding out in his apartment. The manga doesn't take itself very seriously, haha (think, serious topics mixed with humor), and it looks like anime will be much the same, though this first episode might be trying to pass off as somewhat more serious. I look forward to the rest, since I'm sure there will be a lot of overturned assumptions to come, and lots and lots of parodies (mixed in with some more serious stuff). From this first episode, I noticed that the girl was called "Edogawa Miho" (I was going, hey, Edogawa! That's not common!) and then she mentioned in a later scene that her father works at the Conan Laboratory. *facepalm* XDD



This series so does not take itself seriously. XDDD This scene made me giggle.

Not too sure what else I'll be watching this season.

edit: Possibly checking out Hourou Musuko, Beezlebub, and Kimi ni Todoke season 2 (but I need to finish season 1 first...)

o.o I didn't knew this manga/anime, but sounds interesting :O! Maybe i try to see it later! The last anime i saw was "Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu" and "Angel Beats!"... i need to see more animes xD

Level E seems interesting so far. You might like it if you like humorous series. I don't think it's a very long series. XD

How was Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu? I remember wanting to watch that since the title itself was pretty funny with it's repetitiveness, but I still haven't checked it out yet.

I found DnYnD very good, the animation is fluid and the characters very funny and interesting (and you can hear Suwabe Junichi and Jun Fukuyama 8D), the anime have 25 chapters and i found the story like a Fire Emblem game, with problems between kingdoms, magic and wars with swords and lances 8D!

I can't explain more, is difficult with my english level x_X

Oh and the icon xD, i can't resist when i saw Yagyu in this pic... his pose remembered me to Ace Attorney games(... because i was replaying the games xD)

Oo, nice seiyuu. :D And if it reminds you of Fire Emblem, even better! I love it when series remind me of Fire Emblem. :)

*flails* Noooooo~ I still haven't caught up with all the other stuff! But if it's only one episode long so far... And there's only three volumes... *dither dither dither*

The manga is short, and I think the anime will be short too. I haven't finished reading the manga yet, but it seems like it's getting weirder and weirder. XDD It at least seemed somewhat serious in the beginning, especially with the amnesic alien prince. I liked the premise a lot. XD

I was very amused by the girl's name. XD

Aaaand watched the first epsiode now. omg, I was laughing so many times, especially with the touching fingertips and eeeeeee!

Now you make me want to finish reading the manga. But I was trying to hold out! I think I was on chapter 10 out of 16. Already more than halfway through. XD

I went and finished the manga, haha, =P Now I remember why I stopped. XD It's fairly episodic after the first part. The second part is what made me think the series doesn't take itself seriously at all, but it does have its dark moments (and moments that completely go over my head. I hope they'll make more sense to me once it's animated). And there's so much text!! I wonder how that'll translate to anime form.

Have you watched Hunter x Hunter before? One of the kids here resembles Gon a lot in appearance. :3 And now that I think about it, some of the concepts here seem to have been used in HxH later on.

Yeeeeah. =/ I don't like the Prince much. I do like Kraft, but, yeah. =/

I've seen it around, and I saw the similarity. XD

Prince is... very over the top (and not in a good way). I feel bad for Kraft!

My favorite part was the part with the kids in the game, which I guess is why I liked the game part in HxH if you've seen or heard about that part. X3;;

Yes it is. They're making the manga at the same time. So, the anime will be ahead. It's essentially like Yu-gi-oh minus the egypt thing atm. :T

I knew nothing about Level E beforehand, but I loved the first episode. It was really entertaining, I like the characters and the scene where he plays with the puppets is ADORABLE XD The fact that it's Daisuke Namikawa who e.g. voiced North Italy makes it all the more hilarious. The animation look really good, too. I'm not watching anything else right now (haven't really watched anything regularly over the last season either) except for Starry Sky, so yeah... looking forward to this. xD

It's okay so far... the eps are about 13 minutes long I think, I liked the 3rd one so far, the first two one were pretty shallow and typical shoujo. xD
