Magic Kaito anime is out

It's also known as "Kid the Phantom Thief". It is so cool to finally see Kaito's back story animated. Kaitou Kid is usually cool and collected in Detective Conan, and he seems much more grown up. Here he feels a lot younger. He's goofier and well, still learning his past and deciding his path from now on. My favorite character from Conan now has his own anime!!! *____*

I feel bad for the teacher. :'D Even though Kaito and Aoko can answer the questions without seemingly paying attention, they still shouldn't be allowed to run all around the class. (I would have a huge headache if I had to teach them, omg, I can't imagine it. I feel bad for that chalkboard too)


...Kaito would look good in glasses. XD

Blue tooth headsets, webcams...the technology in this got updated even though the manga was drawn way back. XD But Kaito is still stuck with a cassette tape with his dad's recording. Updating that would surely ruin the story. XD; Kaito's room is so clean.

He has awesome expressions in this. :D The secret room was...huge.


Emotional Kaito. I never thought I'd see Kaitou Kid's beginning animated. And this did a pretty good job. I'm glad they expanded on things!


And here's the confident Kaitou Kid under the moonlight. Getting a little closer to the usual Kaitou Kid.


Kaito's fear of fish. Loved seeing this. ♥

That probably didn't help anyone with what went on in the episode. It was all Kaito, Kaito, Kaito for me. XD; There's already an awesome post in the Detective Conan community that summarizes and compares the episode with the first chapter in the manga.

just watched the first episode. since detective conan looks overwhelming, i can get into magic kaito since it starts at the beginning. also love the old school aesthetic XD

kappei plays both adult conan (?) and kaitou? so are they ever in the screen together??

I wonder if there'll be any more episodes after this since this seems to be some sort of special. :'D Detective Conan is pretty overwhelming (there are over 700 chapters now, man). This is pretty old school even though this anime episode's new. XD; The first volume of Magic Kaito came out in...1988. Gosh, we were toddlers then.

Yeah, he plays both adult Conan (Shinichi) and Kaito. They were on screen together in this one special. Usually it's Conan who meets Kaitou Kid (Conan's seiyuu is Takayama Minami). It was...let's see, this episode. :3 Only this episode showed any of Kaito's daily life. Usually he just shows up as the phantom thief.

I'm hoping there will be at least three more episodes. The animate site lists three more times for this, but I don't know if they're reruns or further episodes. I hope it's the latter!

Haha, if you ever want to marathon DC, there are quite a lot of episodes that don't have anything to do with the main plot, so you could always watch an abridged version and just skip those. XD; I don't think a lot of those were ever subbed either. I watched to episode 100 something without skipping, but it was hard to find episodes at that time, so I just watched whatever was available after that. DCTP subbed most of the important episodes after 200 something.

Haha, they reused a lot of the seiyuu since all the Kaito characters were mostly cameos. =P Aoko in episode 219 had Conan's seiyuu, but it sounds like she got her own seiyuu in Magic Kaito now.

This episode made my day. ^___^ Kaito with his very own anime! I think they're heavily promoting Kaitou Kid at the moment. The newest movie has him in it. Then they announced this special. And now the newest manga chapter is related to Kid too!

I hope there's a continuation!!

Ooooo shiny! Oh man, I started watching Detective Conan when it was on tv but now it isn't. :( I'll admit the 700+ manga chapters kinda intimidate me, but this this makes me wanna take a peek! :)
