-So I finally got around to reading the end of Death Note. I hadn't read any chapters since Sayu's rescue. I think I fall in with the group that sort of lost interest since L's death and just read a few chapters here and there after that. But yesterday, I took out volume 9 and 10 and just started reading. The series pulled me right in again. I'm surprised that I was able to keep myself away from spoilers all this time, though I heard that people didn't like the ending much...so I was a bit afraid of it. I've only bought the manga up to volume 10, but thankfully, I had the raw scans of the last two volumes (though no scanlations!) so I spent my time slowly reading the raws. The last parts made me fall in love with Near, and surprisingly, Mello.

I love Near's mannerisms. His puppets/figurines that he uses to describe the case are kind of ugly. (Adorably ugly?!) He's always surrounded by toys and gadgets...I suppose they help him think? Just like how he uses some of it to describe the case. Mello, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. Hot-headed, but he gets out there and he moves the case along. All throughout volume 11 I was wondering what Mello was going to do, even though Light wasn't giving him much thought. I also started paying more attention to Aizawa and Mogi (well, they were given much more of the spotlight!) and I wanted to bang Matsuda's head against the wall for being so naive. And why was Misa being so quiet about Light's affair? I was expecting her to get herself killed though, but thankfully she was able to avoid that, though I wonder how much of it was because Light didn't think she was a threat. Or did he still think that she'd be useful in the future? She was sort of faded into the background...but the last page...was that her?

Mikami is just stupid. And so is Takada. I didn't like her at all.

For the longest time, I was afraid that Light would end up victorious. After all, even L had been killed. Why should Near and Mello's attempt succeed?

Near and Mello. Light. None of them think that Near and Mello can surpass L. In that, Light underestimates them. They were two people, not one, even though they clearly didn't want to work together. But Near and Mello already had more of an advantage given that they knew about the notebook. L was L in that he had to start from scratch. I'm glad Mello helped Near discover the real vs. fake Death Note (though it wasn't exactly his intention), but his role felt...so minor. It was key, and yet it wasn't. Were they trying to show us this different side to rivalry? Mello and Near's rivalry was clearly very different from L and Light's rivalry. But meh, Matt's death was very un-noteworthy too, if that's even a word. Mello...always second best, even in real life. I liked that Near had his pride and managed to provide proof that Light was Kira. And, Matsuda finally did something worth noting. Poor him. And to think that Yagami Papa died thinking that his son was innocent...

I wish that they focused more on what the people in the warehouse though (when Light revealed that he was Kira) instead of having Light ramble on for pages about his ideals. But I suppose, it is the first time that Light has revealed all that to an actual audience. And it shows that Light was just a very good actor. He lost his sanity years and years ago.

I always had a feeling that Ryuk would end up writing Light's name.

I don't know quite what to think of Near taking on L's role...I feel that "L" has already been overused, given that Kira has once taken on that alias. But I suppose, in this way, L lives on. And, Near's last lines to Light were perfect.

I thought at one point that the real names for Near and Mello wouldn't fit them, but they did. So perfectly. I wonder if L's real name will feel the same.

I feel up for reading some DN fanfiction now. Any recommendations? Especially with focus on Near and Mello? Or Aizawa?

The ending...I liked it, I suppose. Felt weird that there were no actual deaths at the final confrontation. Oops. Not counting Light, of course.

-When I was watching Karin, my brother passed by at the moment when Ren (the older brother of Karin) was biting his friend's neck. Of all moments to pass by my monitor...he must've thought it was some type of boy's love series. ^^;; But eh, overall, I liked the series, but there isn't any character that I particularly like.

-I'm on the last chapter for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. I love how all the cases are connected, and after playing it, I can tell why Edgeworth is popular. (angsty past!! social ineptitude!! Or at least, not knowing how to smile or celebrate...) I'm thinking that it'd make for a great cosplay group...I could be Maya while my brother and his wife could cosplay as Phoenix and Mia. :DD I ♥ the theme song for the Steel Samurai. The last case seems sort of like a preview for the sequel...there's all these gadgets now, and zooming in and everything! 0_0;; Oh, and Edgeworth's outfit reminded me of Kuroyanagi's from Yakitate!Japan. His outfit for the contest that he's host of. I think I had a weird dream about it afterwards.

-Speaking of cosplay, I've been mostly holed up in my room sewing away at my Rikkaidai uniform. I'm only on the jacket as of now, but I'm determined to get it done over the summer!

-Honey&Clover II makes me wibble. I'm eagerly awaiting to see Nomiya in action. *thumbs up* (I've only just read that part in the manga!)

-I was going to give amvs a shot, but got discouraged when I saw that the video I wanted to make...had already been made! At least, someone has already used the same song to go along with the same anime. I was going to fit Ouran to the song "I'll make a man out of you." I already did some of the timing. -__-;; But eh, any suggestions for other songs or another series?

-PoT dub was okay. I hated Sakuno's voice and her lines (He's ooonly a kid!) and Ryuuzaki sensei's voice was too young. Ryoma's "mada mada dane" sounds just like any other line when translated. I don't think it'll sink in much. Sasabe sounded great. Too bad he's just a minor character. Momoshiro...ugh. I hate their pronunciations. I can't even try to imitate their pronunciations. I really want to hear how other people sound like though...like Mizuki. 0_0;; Oh, and Ryoma. His voice fit, I suppose. Not bratty enough, which is okay, since he'd sound stupid like that in English. He does sound aloof, which is a plus.

-Hikago dub...it took a bit to get used to Hikaru's voice. I liked Akari's voice a lot. Sai sounds okay normally, but his "excited voice" sounds kind of clown-ish. I was eating watermelon when Touya entered the picture and started talking...I almost choked. The series somehow doesn't seem as engaging dubbed.
