Translation of Rule 19 from the Legend of Sun Knight manhua. Scattered with my commentary! This is not a scanlation, nor is it a replacement for buying the actual manhua. I cleaned the images but not very well. =P

Rule 19 covers V2C8-V2C9 from the novel.

Rule 17 and Rule 18 translations.

Rule 19

The Holy Knights Who Face the Darkness

(I love the contrast between Judgment and Sun here. <333 Even Judgment's face is shadowed. Standing back to back <3333. Sun's hair is quite full-bodied, haha.)
Sun (thoughts): Uh oh! He's thinking of withdrawing...

Sun: Have your fellow knights claimed that you don't suit her?

Elijah: His Majesty the king and Teacher have also said so. They are extremely furious...

Sun: How about this! In the next two days, how about continuing to receive Judgment's training while thinking it over?

*still eating*

Elijah: I'd love to! Knight-Captain Judgment's swordsmanship is really strong! I wouldn't mind receiving more training from him even after this!

Elijah: In just one week, I feel like I have improved greatly. It's nearly unbelievable.

Sun: Of course. Even when Judgment was only thirteen, he was already so strong that he was invincible.

Sun (thoughts): I think, aside from Roland, no one can compete in swordsmanship with him...

*step step!*

*step step!*

(Aww, no discussion of Roland here. Sun thought to himself instead of saying Roland's name out loud. Making the connection here would have been nice, since we learn from Elijah that Roland "was not exactly a sociable person; he was also somewhat withdrawn and he rarely sparred with others." I wonder if he kept to himself because of Pink, or if he rarely sparred with others because there just wasn't anyone strong enough around. Elijah looks so depressed in hat first panel. XD;)
*rises*

Elijah: Knight-Captain Sun, what...?

*pretends not to know him*

*Ah!*

Knights: Elijah! So you were here.

Knights: Elijah, you must win!

Knights: Right! You must marry the princess.

Knights: Don't you dare lose to the Son of the God of War!

Elijah (thoughts): They're not here to beat me up, are they...

Elijah (thoughts): Huh...?

Knights: Elijah, even the score for us!

(jklajd;fas Awww, poor Elijah. First, Grisia confuses him and leaves him to fend for himself, and then so many people surround him! I love how Grisia's departure was drawn. Hahaha, he takes the meat with him.)
Elijah: Teacher...What's going on...?

Elijah's teacher: Lad! If you don't marry the princess, never return before me again!

Elijah: Teacher? What, what is going on?

Knights: Those damn warriors of the Monastery of the God of War actually dared to ambush us during the night!

*ramble ramble*

*feels wronged*

Knights: They even made a ruckus over how we only knew how to gang up on people, how it was unfair that we rode horses. They kept wanting us to dismount and engage them in a one-on-one battle.

Knights: We are knights, knights! Our specialty has always been riding horses and battling in groups! Who wants to fight a one-on-one battle with people who have always specialized in single battle! We're not idiots!

Elijah's teacher: ...

Elijah: This...

(I think Elijah's teacher is one of the king's knight-confidants, right? :3; That puts Elijah pretty high up on the standing? And then later on, marrying the princess elevates his status even more, right? Haha, Elijah comes off as pretty naive here, but he really grows into himself as the series progresses! Anyway, Sun's plan is quite successful, pft.)
Elijah's teacher: No, this won't do. Your strength isn't at all enough to win against the Son of the God of War, and that Sun Knight that can't even hold a sword is even more undependable...

Elijah's teacher: Come, come! I'm going to give you special training!

*arrow points to the Sun Knight that can't even hold a sword*

Elijah: Wait, I just...

Sun (thoughts): Hmph! Why drag me into this when you're lecturing your student?

Knights: Ah!!

Knights: People from the Monastery of the God of War!

*Ah?*

Son of the God of War: What the heck are you royal knights trying to do? You actually sought us out to battle on horse?

Son of the God of War: We are warriors! Who wants to do group battle against you on horses!

(Haha, I love that Sun is overhearing all of this. XD; Also, I adore the reactions of everyone. They're so riled up, hahahaa.)
Knights: Your demand for single combat is what's unreasonable! We are knights! Who wants to battle you one-on-one!

Son of the God of War: Hahahahaha! Fine, fine!!! Fine! Then I will battle against all of you myself at the same time. Whether you guys want to ride a horse or a donkey is up to you!

Knights: What did you say?

Knights: You think we wouldn't do it?

Elijah's teacher: Interesting!

Elijah's teacher: Perhaps you would like to challenge me. I will ride a horse. Just myself.

Son of the God of War (thoughts): He is a knight-confidant of the king of the Kingdom of Forgotten Sound. I shouldn't anger him right now.

(Oh, so he is the knight-confidant of the king. XD; The elder one? Since there are two, and they're only ever referred to as the older one and the younger one. *checks the novel* Yup yup. I'd forgotten all this. XD;;)
Son of the God of War: Let us depart.

*hmph!*

Sun (thoughts): The Monastery of the God of War and the royal knights have already clashed. Even if Elijah doesn't want to fight, he can no longer back out...

Sun (thoughts): Mm, I can tell Adair to stop carrying out the nightly missions.

Box: On the day of the three way decisive match,

Box: The entire Holy Temple was practically empty, as everyone had long since gone off to the location of the decisive match to secure a good spot.

(Awww, this was where Adair and the Sun Knight Platoon pestered Sun in the novels to go see the match, but it wasn't included here. Poor SKP for having to patrol while everyone else is off to see the match. XD;; (It's included as a 4 panel at the end of the next chapter) Come to think of it, not even Judgment ordered his holy knights to patrol, huh? Sun reveals that he had a hand in the clash between the Monastery and the royal knights, unlike in he novels where we don't find out until later. Makes sense to clue us in~)
Sun (thoughts): "He" should already be waiting outside the entrance to the Holy Temple.

Sun (thoughts): As expected.

Sun (thoughts): All preparations have been completed. We can now depart for the decisive match...

*nods*

Sun (thoughts): I know...

Sun (thoughts): That he will follow behind me.

(lajdkf;asdj;fafa Look at that armored foot, ahhhhhh. I love how this scene was drawn~, and well, Sun's confidence that he will be followed. He trusts him that much... T___T)
Box: Location of the decisive match.

(Ooo~, nice stadium. Elijah has the symbol of the kingdom hanging over him as a banner? But the Son of the God of War doesn't have a banner, hm. Haha, the audience is hilarious! There are angry marks all over the royal knights' area (panel to the right) and the Monastery's area (they're on the left), while the holy knights (they're in the left panel on the right) are sweatdropping. The king and queen are on the right. The princess has just walked in and seems surprised. :3)
*nods...*

*smiles~*

*smiles~*

Knights: Sun Knight has arrived-

*Ah...*

Knights: Stop right there!

*What's going on?*

*Huh?*

(Eeee~, the guards at the entrance~. Yay, great to see them drawn. Sun is all ~smiles~. He sure knows how to make an entrance)
*That's...!*

*Ah!*

King: ...

(Oho, lovely reaction shot from everyone. :DDDD They all have their expressions controlled pretty well though. The good, warm-hearted faction are all standing together while the cruel, cold-hearted faction are standing together. Seems like Blaze and Storm are the ones reacting? The king is fairly expressionless too, and the queen seems fairly speechless as well. We get a closeup of the maaaaask in the last panel. ~mysterious~)
(And finally, he is revealed, ahhhhhhhhhh. I can't get over this design. XDDD;; High ponytail!!!! Scarf!!! The scarf makes him look really cool. XD; He gets to have it float around majestically, pffft. He has white strands of hair on the sides!! And omg, that armor. Or well... Lack of armor??? Your midriff totally isn't being protected! Annnnd, I thought you wore a skin-tight leotard, not that it was a see-through skin-tight leotard! XDDD Those are some gauntlets as well. All spiky and such.)
Sun: He is not a suspicious person.

Sun: He belongs to the Holy Temple.

Sun: Please allow him to enter.

Twelve Holy Knights: He belongs to the Holy Temple?

(Hahaha, Sun... XDDD Ooo, we get a closeup of Sun's clothes here~. Ruffles in the front. He has a sun badge on his left shoulder, and also a small pendant of the same symbol on his collar? It looks like it's hanging from the jewel in the middle. Cute. The reactions of the Twelve Holy Knights...! XD Blaze and Storm are super shocked. Elmairy seems fairly shocked too. Cloud is... nearly completely hidden behind Blaze's hair, pfffft. Stone is reduced to a small little drawing next to Metal. Earth looks fairly unconcerned, haha. Moon has his chin lifted, of course. XD; Ice and Judgment are expressionless to the upper right. XD;;; I feel like they're going, "I don't want to be involved.")
Sun: This is Knight-Captain Hell. He has recently completed a secret mission and has finally returned to his station.

Blaze: What! Wasn't he Su...

Blaze: No! Wasn't he Supreme Dragon?

*Even though the disguise looks a little different...*

Sun: Ah! You're right. Knight-Captain Hell's full name is Supreme Dragon Hell. Calling him Supreme Dragon is not wrong.

Sun: However, when you are in front of outsiders, Knight-Captain Blaze, you should still call him Knight-Captain Hell so as not to let other people mistake his identity.

*stares in disbelief...*

Earth: ...

Blaze: ...

Cloud: ...

The rest: ...X6

Sun (thoughts): Speaking of the disguise being different, one day, Dragon's Saint Brigandine suddenly said, "My experience level is now enough to level up", causing me to think that my act of eavesdropping... I mean, gathering intelligence on the roof would be discovered!

(LOLOLOL. I love Blaze's reaction. XD His face in that last panel, hahahaha. And everyone being speechless! With the ...X6 part, pfffft. So nine of them are speechless in all? Sun and Hell aren't part of it, so one person isn't speechless? XD; That last part from Sun about the Dragon's Saint Brigandine leveling up seems to be an addition to the manhua? XD;; So funny~)
*rigid...*

Princess (thoughts): What are you playing at?

Sun (thoughts): Princess, please be at ease. Although you do not much of the plan, I will help your lover win!

King: It sounds like the Twelve Holy Knights do not recognize their own companion.

Sun: It is indeed so, Your Majesty. Other than Sun, the others do not in fact know this companion.

King: Oh? I would like to hear the details.

Sun: Among the Twelve Holy Knights, Knight-Captain Hell is a very unique existence. Along with the passage of time, the missions Knight-Captain Hell is responsible for have also changed.

Sun: Most of the time, they are rather secretive missions. For example, during wartime, Knight-Captain Hell might be responsible for obtaining military information.

(Elijah's expression!!!! XD;;;; Haha, the princess looks very angry. Sun continues to be all smiles in public. I really love that last panel of Hell doing undercover work)
Younger knight-confidant: *heh* It sounds like the Hell Knight's role is no more than that of a spy or an assassin? So there actually exists such a holy knight among the Twelve Holy Knights doing dirty work?

*doing dirty work runs across the next panel*

Elijah: ...

Sun: It is not like that.

Sun: Under the guidance of the God of Light, what holy knights uphold is the true meaning of justice, not an ignorant form of it!

(Ah, so here's what the younger knight-confidant looks like! The older one has a mustache to separate them. XD;;; Poor Elijah... He's received a lot of shocks, as well as hits to his self-esteem. The princess is totally worried for him. I expect he's feeling it all the more because he was indeed sent as a spy to the palace... Sun is no longer smiling! Don't you dare speak against his Twelve Holy Knights!)
Sun: In the midst of war, obtaining accurate information is of absolute importance.

Sun: Accurate information can lessen the sacrifices of our holy knight brothers.

Sun: Moreover, it can shorten the duration of a war, so that the children of the God of Light will not be caught in the ravages of war.

Sun: However, information will not deliver itself to our door. It also cannot be obtained merely by asking for it.

Sun: In order to obtain this precious information, someone must sacrifice their right to stand under the light, thus entering the darkness.

Sun: This is for the sake of lessening the suffering of the citizens, and to protect our holy knight brothers.

Sun: But most of all, it is for carrying out the justice of the God of Light.

(*claps claps claps* That is an amazing speech, Sun! Hehe, the audience is smiling from listening to him. Elijah also looks much more determined! I love that side glance Sun gives him~)
Sun: Please believe me.

Sun: Even if a holy knight has his back against the light to face the darkness, they still walk under the light and not in darkness.

Sun (thoughts): Actually,

Sun (thoughts): These words are not only spoken for Hell Knight.

(<3333 Time to pull out "Facing the Darkness" to reread it again huh... XD;; Hehe, the royal knights are looking awkward here. They just got told! The princess actually smiles at Grisia~.

...I really like Sun's hair. XD;;)
Sun (thoughts): They also apply to...

Sun (thoughts): The circumstances of all of the knight-captains from the "cruel, cold-hearted" faction.

Sun (thoughts): Especially their leader, Judgment Knight.

King: Sun.

King: You have allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of holy knights.

(Eeeee, this image of Judgment~. I love it. We also get a nice shot of everyone from the cruel, cold-hearted faction.)
Sun: To have Your Majesty's understanding is an honor of Sun's as well as the will of the God of Light.

Son of the God of War: Sun Knight, are you done yet?

Son of the God of War: If you are done, let's begin the battle!

*a little impatient...*

Sun: Sun is terribly sorry for letting you wait so long.

Sun: Then let us now commence a friendly spar witnessed by the radiance of the God of Light.

*walking slowly~* *walking slowly~*

Sun: ?

Sun: Brother Hell, is something the matter?

(Hehe, I really like how the Son of the God of War looks. XD; Sun is totally acting here. But that's a really cute expression from him in the last panel.)
Hell: Fighting is not something the Sun Knight should do. Please allow this substitute to take your place in the match.

Sun: Ah...

King: ?

King: Substitute?

Sun: T-This...

Younger knight-confidant: Could it be that the upstanding Sun Knight has actually hidden something unspeakable?

(Roland is a fine actor, I have to say. That wasn't my first impression of him, but he really acted his part here. Hehe, I love Sun's glance to Judgment~)
Judgment: If you insist on saying it, then whatever happens will be your responsibility.

*Someone who doesn't know the situation but can still play along*

Sun: It's like this, Your Majesty. The Hell Knight has once been considered the Sun Knight's secret identity, and was not a knight that actually existed.

Sun: But no matter what the truth was in the past, right now, the Hell Knight is someone who truly exists. They have also been given the mission to be the Sun Knight's substitute.

Sun: Knight-Captain Hell, please step aside.

Sun: This is a battle that I must participate in myself.

(Hehehe, Judgment can play along no matter what~, while Ice is just going ?)
Hell: No!

Hell: If you personally participated in the match and do not allow this substitute to take your place, that will defeat the purpose of my existence.

Hell: You will have to kill me with one strike and then step over my corpse to go on that stage.

*completely floored...*

Sun: Knight-Captain Hell, I cannot let you take my place. If you were to win, how would that count as my victory?

Hell: Then go ahead and step over my corpse to go on stage!

Sun: That is not something I can do... Please step aside, Knight-Captain Hell.

(djka;s;a That is one intense look! I love the stand-off! Also, I wonder how much of this is an act, and just how seriously Roland is saying this. Must be really seriously!)
Hell: No!

Princess: Then let the Hell Knight take your place.

Princess: Since he is someone wiling to lay down his life for you, then having that person go onstage in your place is no different than having you personally participate.

Sun: But, Your Highness, the other two participants will probably not be able to accept this arrangement.

*Ah...*

Elijah: Since the princess does not object, then I will also accept it.

Son of the God of War: ...

(Hahaha, Mike, you are totally outnumbered. He doesn't look very happy about it. XDDD;; The princess is a quick thinker! Sun and Roland both look really cute here. XD;)
Sun: It is normal for the Son of the God of War to be unwilling. If the Hell Knight were to win, it would be unfair for him.

*hmph!*

Son of the God of War: Who says I won't accept it? It doesn't matter who goes onstage. I will emerge as the victor of this match.

King: *nods...*

Younger knight-confidant: Since all participants have agreed, the Hell Knight will take the place of the Sun Knight in the match.

Sun: ♪

Judgment: ...

(Hehehe, Sun has you played, Mike. And Sun looks really happy about it. Meanwhile, Judgment is totally going, "I knew it." XDDD)
Judgment: So you never had any intention to go on stage.

Sun: Of course. I have no interest at all in getting beaten black and blue under the public's gaze.

Sun: With Judgment's deductive skills, you should have known this the moment you saw me hold Cloud's book about choosing lucky items.

Sun: Did you think that I was someone who would depend on lucky items to back my schemes?

*suspicious~~*

Sun: If I wasn't 200% confident, then I would at least need to be 100% confident before I had the "courage" to carry it out.

Judgment: Ah...You are right! How stupid of me.

Judgment: Don't even mention when I saw the book. The moment you agreed to the match is when I should have figured out that you would never go on stage yourself.

Sun: What! At least I fight against undead creatures... The undead creatures sent over by Pink sometimes includes a few strong ones!

(These two, ahhhhhhh. I looooove Judgment's smile. *swoons* Sun's pout. <3333 The 200%/100% thing is really interesting... It goes to show how desperate Sun is later on... No, actually, it goes to show why he made his later choices...)
Random servant: Sun Knight, the king wishes to see you.

King: *come closer...*

King: If it weren't because I know that my sister indeed likes Elijah, I would never let you cause such mischief.

Sun: Although Sun does not know what mischief Your Majesty speaks of, Sun admires Your Majesty for your heartfelt concern.

Sun (thoughts): This time, I am truly touched by the king.

Sun (thoughts): If the king had adamantly wanted to marry his sister to the Son of the God of War, then he would at least have ten methods to sabotage my plans.

Sun (thoughts): But because of his sister's wishes, he let the situation play out...

Sun (thoughts): What a doting older brother worrying over his sister.

King: Hmph! If after causing so much trouble, yet you cannot allow my sister to marry her intended like she wants

*glares*

King: and instead still leave behind severe repercussions, then be sure to watch out.

(Hehe, Sun and Judgment are so cute. j;adjf;ad;ja Oh gosh, this scene. Just the act of Sun leaning down so that the king can whisper all this into his ear! Omg, after translating a certain scene from V8 in which this is referenced... Everything just means so much more...)
Sun (thoughts): However, the king's concerns are not baseless. Although he has received training from Judgment,

Sun (thoughts): Elijah's chances of winning against the Son of the God of War are still around the same as my chances of winning against Judgment Knight.

Sun (thoughts): This, I know. Judgment knows. The Monastery knows. The royal knights know.

Sun (thoughts): So of course the king knows too.

Sun (thoughts): What they don't know, however, is that there are many definitions of victory.

Sun (thoughts): Especially when fighting over a woman.

(Oooooh, I love the drawing of the three! So pretty~. Sun gives a little bow. <3 Hahahaha, wow, Elijah's chances of victory in the normal sense truly aren't very good if it can be compared to Sun's chances of winning against Judgment, pfffft. Mike is really strong, huh? He can best Adair easily too.)
*admiration...*

Judgment: Nice swordsmanship!

*Sun's view*

*clang clang clang*

*swish swish swish*

*bam bam bam*

Sun: ...Who are you talking about?

Judgment: As expected, Elijah's swordsmanship is pretty good, but Knight-Captain Hell's and the Son of the God of War's swordsmanship is unexpectedly good!

Judgment: Although on the surface, this looks to be a three way melee, it is actually mostly a confrontation between the Son of the God of War and Hell Knight.

(Hehehe, omg, Sun. XDDD;; I laughed so hard at how different the match appeared to Judgment and Sun, and how Judgment was able to analyze it while Sun's only response was, "Who?"
Sun: Then, between you and Hell Knight, who is stronger?

*glances far off...*

Judgment: This is hard to tell. You should get what I mean.

*His observation skills are too scary!*

Sun (thoughts): As expected, Judgment already knows the true identity of "Supreme Dragon Hell"!

Sun (thoughts): Because he knows that Supreme Dragon Hell does not just have the ability to "wield a sword"...

Sun: ...How did you know who he is?

Judgment: Swordsmanship of this calibre is very easy to recognize.

Sun (thoughts): I really hate sword experts!

Judgment: Your expression is saying that all sword experts should die.

Sun: ...

(Ahahaha, these two. <3333 So married, pffft. I love their expressions. XD And I always find it hilarious how Sun hates swords experts and how Judgment can totally see that just from his face)
Sun: If you keep guessing correctly like this, I will think that you're not the Judgment Knight but rather a tapeworm in my stomach.

Judgment: *smiles...*

Sun: ...What's the situation now?

*clang clang clang...*

*clack!*

Judgment: The Son of the God of War is as expected, the leader of a Monastery. His strength cannot be underestimated.

Judgment: If Supreme Dragon Hell does not use any abilities outside of his sword, he will eventually lose.

Sun: Even if Elijah and Supreme Dragon Hell combine forces, the Son of the God of War would still win?

Judgment: Yes.

(kldjfla;sdjfafa The talk about Judgment being a tapeworm eeeeeeeeeee. I think V2 is when that first shows up?)
*wow!*

Sun: As expected of the Son of the God of War. How strong!

Judgment: Your expression suggests that you are very relieved that you never had any intention of taking part in the fight.

Sun: Shut up, tapeworm!

Sun (thoughts): It's almost time...

Sun: No matter what happens later, don't interfere.

Judgment: Then I will leave first so as not to make people suspicious as to why I did not lend a hand.

Sun (thoughts): It's just like Judgment to be so thorough.

(l;dfja;f;jasdjf Sun, so cute XDDDD Lesus's expression there in the panel right next to it... it looks so kind and fond to me~)
Judgment: This way, I can also avoid knowing what you did.

Sun (thoughts): ...That works.

Sun (thoughts): Otherwise, I might accidentally exceed Judgment's nonsense tolerance level and end up getting beaten up by him yet still have to apologize.

*boom*

*boom!!*

(Haha, Judgment leaves. XD;; jk;dsafja; Sun thinking about exceeding Judgment's nonsense tolerance level! Well, eventually it happens... and eventually you will apologize. <33333)
Hitting the nail on the head

*clang clang!*

*clang clang!*

Sun: ...Good thing I didn't take part. Otherwise, just the sounds of the weapons colliding would be enough to break my heart.

*sword repair fees*

Judgment: If you actually took part, there wouldn't be any sounds of weapons colliding because you would lose in an instant.

Sun: ...

Judgment: But don't worry, your specialty is in undead creatures.

Judgment: If you were fighting against undead creatures, you would be stronger than all three on stage.

Judgment: However, if you were fighting something alive, your fighting ability is not even a tenth of Elijah's.

(Poor Sun becoming more and more depressed. XDDDD Haha, and he's so worried over his sword)
