Sket Dance

I started watching Sket Dance and bawled my eyes at during episode 25. Sket Dance, I thought you were supposed to be a comedy series. =/ (It normally is. The main three characters are part of a school club that helps people. So far the series has mostly been episodic).
Surprisingly, I enjoy the humor in this series quite a lot even though a lot of it is just them talking in their clubroom, and they're often so over-the-top. All the episodes feel so high-strung, haha. I thought it might fall flat for me. I'm surprised at who became recurrent characters too (am enjoying Roman and Shinzou's scenes. They never fail to amuse me). Watching Sket Dance makes me want an Oresama Teacher anime. That series has some pretty random, over-the-top humor too, and the main character is part of a club that goes against the student council. (also, Tsubaki Sasuke from Sket Dance reminds me so much of Ayabe Reito from Oresama Teacher, and both are student council members).
Comparison pics between Tsubaki Sasuke and Ayabe Reito
Tsubaki Sasuke from Sket Dance!

Ayabe Reito from Oresama Teacher!
I think it's their hairstyle. Oh, and their eyelashes. Yes. The eyelashes. Gotta be the eyelashes. That's why Tsubaki reminded me so much of Ayabe. Those eyelashes. XDDD
Some more random screenshots. XD

I don't know why I'm so amused by Samurai!Shinzou eating Friske before his matches.

Roman, oh Roman. She really makes me question shoujo cliches. XD

Making sparkles and manga-like panels appear is like a super power of hers. XDDD

Date also amused me a lot with just how bad he was at speaking...
I'll be following this series~. Still have a lot to catch-up on though, before I reach the most recent episode.
*turns this into a summary of recent anime I watched / am watching* I guess this is a random check-in halfway through the winter season. :3
Randomly Marathoned
Time of Eve / Eve no Jikan

Randomly marathoned this series last week. My brother mentioned it before, and so did
darkicedragon. /o/ It's so short. I think all of the episodes were only 15 minutes each except for the last episode, episode 6. That one was 30 minutes or so.
In a futuristic Japan, androids are used everywhere. They have a ring above their heads to distinguish them from humans, but at Eve no Jikan, a special cafe that does not distinguish between humans and androids, they turn their rings off (and then it's pretty much impossible to tell who's human and who's an android).
The series was short, but a lot was said. :3 I quite liked the bgm that's played whenever we set foot into Eve no Jikan.
I laughed so hard with episode 4 with the old discarded android (and was saddened by that episode as well) and then episode 6 made me cry. >__> I cry very easily. Am very curious about the movie. Episode 6 hinted at so much more to come.
Continued from the previous season:
Chihayafuru

Only 5 episodes left? D: This is my favorite anime I'm currently watching. I feel very invested in the characters, especially Taichi, who gets quite a lot of character development over the series. This series follows Chihaya who discovers the game of karuta thanks to Arata and then starts playing karuta competitively. Each episode makes me feel like it was better than the previous episode (but how can that be?!). I guess I can say I always come out each week feeling like the series outdid itself once again. It's a great mix of the sports genre with a touch of romance, and episodes are executed beautifully.
The manga is still ongoing (though I haven't read it). I wonder what that means for the anime. Will they stop at a logical place and leave it there, or will they go the route of an anime original ending? It sounds like the chances of Chihayafuru getting a second season isn't very high given the ratings, but I still hope for one.
I love the bgm, the opening, and the ending songs of this.
Bakuman season 2

Bakuman~. :D I follow the manga for this, so I already know everything that happens, but I love seeing my favorite scenes animated. I basically take... lots of screencaps of Fukuda while I'm watching. XD; Season 2's going to end soon, but we already know there's going to be a season 3, so whoot! I like this adaptation quite a lot. It's very true to the manga and even fleshes out some scenes that aren't as fleshed out in the original.
(Bakuman follows Mashiro and Takagi who decide to create manga together. Mashiro makes a promise with Azuki, the girl he likes, that they'll marry each other once his manga becomes an anime and she voices the heroine in it. Before then, they won't meet each other or contact each other except through texts and phone calls).
I do get a little confused between what happens in the anime and what happens in the manga. XD; I'm all thinking about Reversi when it's all about Tanto and PCP in the anime at the moment.
While watching Sket Dance, I kept thinking about all the stuff that Mashiro and Takagi (and others) talk about in Bakuman. The "Sasuga Switch!" line that's so often repeated in Sket Dance... I wonder if the mangaka / editor put a lot of thought into it in hopes that it would catch on and boost popularity. XD; The catch phrases in Sket Dance are quite simple and ordinary, but they do stick in my mind... XD
Hunter x Hunter

The Hunter x Hunter remake! Boy decides to become a hunter to search for his father. This fantasy world is quite rich, and Togashi Yoshihiro (the mangaka) totally isn't afraid to kill characters off...
Around 20 episodes in so far. Will be a long series. I keep seeing this compared with the 1999 version. I liked that version, but I like this version more. There are parts that each do better though, and I do miss the bgm from the previous series. But I have high hopes for this remake~. The beginning episodes were way too fast, but the pacing has slowed down. I hope they keep the current pacing.
I'm excited for the next arc! Gotou~ (except, in light of the recent manga chapters... Gotou... ;____; )
Killua is still my favorite character this time around. *takes a bunch of screencaps of him*
Boo, there's no new episode this week.
Newly Following Winter 2012 Series
Halfway through winter 2012. What did I end up following in the end? :3
Area no Kishi

I was following the manga of this but stopped buying it around volume 17 or so. Was very excited about this being animated! I love sports series, and this one has a twist in the beginning.
I thought the first two episodes were great, but then came the important twist that sets things off... yet the animation turned horrible in that episode. What happened!!!???? The animation and artwork has been better after that, but my hopes had already been let down. Some scenes from the manga are being skipped over too. I wonder how long the series is intended to be. (There's quite some material).
Anyway, soccer series where Kakeru aims to become the "knight in the area", the striker who will score in the penalty area. We're still getting introduced to his new team at the moment. Hope it'll get more exciting once they meet rival teams and Nana gets to shine more too instead of just being a manager.
I've been taking only screencaps of Araki. XD;; I thought Ishida Akira for his voice sounded quite off, but I'm getting used to it.
New Prince of Tennis

Tenipuriiiii, the fandom of my heart. Haha, this is the only screenshot I took! I just thought Yanagi looked really pretty here.
I was hoping the anime would flesh scenes out since there were so many matches going on in the manga. Some matches only had a panel or two... instead of fleshing matches out, the anime instead skipped right over some matches without even mentioning them! Episode 8 was pretty awesome though, precisely because it took manga material and fleshed it out even more, making it funnier than the original (I couldn't stop laughing). The animation and art has been quite pretty, though there are a lot of still panels.
My biggest disappointment is that this series seems to be slated only for 13 episodes. At least that's what My Anime List says is the length of the series. That's way too short! That means the series is already half over... I suppose the manga isn't very far yet, but... really, the anime could have fleshed things out more for a longer run. =/ If this really is only 13 episodes... please give us a second season in the future.
Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou

Haha, this series. XD; It's about the daily lives of high school boys. Each episode has short segments that normally have some sort of punchline at the end of the segment. I had some good laughs over this series. I'm usually around a week behind watching the series though because it's not on Crunchyroll. :3;; The girls in this series are so violent. I do love how silly everyone is though~. There's about half the series left. I'll be following the series to the end. I thought there would be almost no girls in this, but surprisingly they show up quite a lot. (Though a lot of them are faceless).
Natsume Yuujinchou Shi

Season 4 has been awesome! I've enjoyed every season, but this season is my favorite yet. I like the action of the first two episodes. I love the humor in episode 6 (Madara as Natsume was amazing). I love the emotions of episode 7 (Tanuma!! Natsume!!! ;_____;). I love the flashback to Natsume's past in episode 5. So yeah. This season has been awesome. The anime adaptation of this series has been awesome~
(Natsume inherits the book of friends, which has names of various ayakashi collected by his grandmother Reiko. This book of friends brings him trouble but also helps him learn more about his grandmother and ayakashi).
This series usually makes me feel very peaceful. :)
Poyopoyo

Haha, these next two are 3 minute per episode series. Poyopoyo is about a round cat. The episodes are so short that one bgm track can take us through the entire episode. XD; I quite like the younger brother in this.
Recorder to Randoseru

A younger brother who looks old. An older sister who looks super young... there's not much of a plot to this. Mostly just misunderstandings over their ages. And Okiayu Ryoutarou doing whiny voices, haha...
I watched two episodes of Mouretsu Pirates. Might watch more after the series ends. Might also check out Inu x Boku SS.
Stuff I need to finish from previous seasons
UN-GO

On episode 5! I've been watching this very sporadically. It's only 11 episodes long, so it really shouldn't take me this long to watch. XD;; I like mysteries, so hopefully I'll enjoy the rest of the series.
Kaiji

I was marathoning this (...so not a good series to marathon) but I stopped before the last few episodes. I have this bad habit of stopping right before the ending... which doesn't make sense with Kaiji since there is a season 2. XD;
Kaiji is a thriller. Main character Kaiji gets into a lot of debt and ends up gambling to try to make money and get out of his debt. The series is depressing with how evil people who have money can be, and it's bleak for those without money. Yet the series can be uplifting when Kaiji manages to get people to work together, but they try so hard only to get nowhere. I kind of don't want to find out what happens in the last few episodes, but since there is a season 2, Kaiji should be fine...
Working season 2

I fell behind with this, but I expect to be able to finish it quite easily. :3 It's a much more lighthearted watch compared to Kaiji, haha. Daily life of working in a restaurant! Though it's more about the characters than the restaurant.
Hanasaku Iroha

I only have the last few episodes of this one left too. Should not take me long to finish! This series is quite pretty. Ohana is sent to live with her grandmother who runs an inn. She starts working at the family run inn.
Also plan on watching Uta no Prince-sama, Steins Gate, and some other series, but who knows when I'll get around to them. :'D And I have other series to finish too (like Tegami Bachi, Level E, and Katekyo Hitman Reborn. I think I only had 10 episodes left of that.).

I started watching Sket Dance and bawled my eyes at during episode 25. Sket Dance, I thought you were supposed to be a comedy series. =/ (It normally is. The main three characters are part of a school club that helps people. So far the series has mostly been episodic).
