So I've been back from Fanime... for almost a week already but haven't announced that in my own journal! :'D I think my summer sluggishness has already hit me this year. It seems to happen to me every year where I just don't feel like doing anything. Last year this happened, I took on some drabble requests. That woke me up! Though I never did finish the last few requests. XD;; Maybe I should do the same this time... but maybe later. I have some drabbles I owe people and tons of comments to make and answer. :3
So Fanime. I didn't attempt to do much at Fanime this year. Took things easy. Cosplay took me a while to put on everyday, so by the time I reached the convention center, it was always around 1-2 PM. I basically missed half of each day. :') I always left the con around 10-11 pm each day, which meant I wasn't at the convention center too long either. I got to chat with a lot of people and even some strangers. Cosplay sure is an easy way of getting into conversations about different series! When I wasn't at the dealers or wandering the artist alley (or doing my brief stint of helping
jen_kat w/ carrying stuff for swap meet)... I hung around
gem2niki's table and sort of helped sell stuff. I didn't even feel like exploring the rest of the convention or going to gatherings to take photos like I usually do. ^^;; I should have visited some more panels since there were quite some good guests!
Every night when I got home... I worked some more on my Elsea cosplay. XD; I wanted to wear it for Fanime, but I didn't even have the cloth cut by the time the convention started. My parents ended up helping me sew most of the outfit when I wasn't home, and at night I'd try the outfit on and we'd make adjustments. I never thought I would be one of those people who were still working on cosplay during convention time... I usually finish beforehand!! I was going to give up and leave Elsea for my next convention (Anime Expo at the start of July), but then my dad said if I did that, I'd probably still be working on the outfit right until the very last minute. The result would be the same anyway, whether I did it now or later. Ugh, procrastination. XD;; And then
jen_kat, who was translating for Yokota Mamoru for the weekend, said that Yokota-san was taking pics of cosplayers from The World God Only Knows to show to the mangaka of the series since they're friends. :O I guess that managed to give me and my parents the last push to finish the outfit. XD; It is so hastily made though! Need to make some fixes still. I hope I look okay in Yokota-san's pic... :'D
The convention itself felt a lot more crowded this year. Were there a lot more attendees? Every day, the hallway was packed! And even at night when I'm used to the crowds thinning, there were still quite a lot of people. I hope the location will still be enough to hold all the attendees next year. I was looking stuff up about Fanime when I came back...looking at the stats is quite amazing, and even as an attendee who experienced the gradual growth, the numbers hasn't quite hit me until now. I started attending Fanime in 2000. There were only 2,300 attendees at that time. Last year for 2010, there were 16,000. The growth is quite amazing. I find it a little hard to remember what it was like back then when there were only 2,300 attendees (and when Fanime wasn't even on a set weekend).
Some thoughts about the concert (Matsushita Yuya & FLOW), Masquerade, and then pics of cosplayers below the cut!

That was it for Fanime! Managed to see
kaleidoscopic27,
dyaoka,
yoshikochan, and others for a little bit.
jen_kat was staying at my house... otherwise I didn't see her much! I'll be going to Anime Expo at the end of this month. Will still be bringing the same cosplay. If anyone's going to AX, let me know~ :D My AX plans at the moment are... pretty non-existent. Just helping out with selling stuff. Also bought tickets for the Hatsune Miku concert, I think.
