Dec. 26th, 2010

Happy holidays, everyone! :)

I came home very late yesterday and was going to crash after not having slept much at all (I even fell asleep while playing video games with my brother during our family gathering, but right after we stopped shooting zombies and started playing something else, I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore). So yeah, I was going to crash but then Yuletide went live. Of course I had to forgo sleep to get at my gift fics, but even then, I only managed to read one fic before I just couldn't stay awake anymore, and since I stayed up so late and didn't sleep much the day before, it meant I woke up later than usual too. :'D Anyway, on to the lovely fics!

music is no match for happiness (and grandness none for music) (Mekakushi no Kuni, Namiki)
This is just pure love. Namiki is perhaps my most favorite character of all times, except almost no fanwork exists for the series, so I never have the chance to fangirl over him or the series! This piece reminds me why I adore Namiki so much, and it makes me want to read the series all over again (I already have, many times). I also feel like I should be writing the next chapter of my Mekakuni fic, and I think I will after Yuletide. :) The prose in this piece is really beautiful, and Namiki is just so very Namiki. I will be rereading this a lot!

Explore (Noblesse, M-21)
This fic made me giggle a lot. It's just M-21 exploring Frankenstein's house, which is such a normal thing to do, but when it's Frankenstein's house + M-21's paranoia... *g* I was so amused that I couldn't even leave a comment right away since I was busy laughing. Oh M-21. <3 I love him lots, and this fic has him just right. :)

Never Give Up (Tegami Bachi, Vincent Alcott)
Minor character love! It took me a bit to remember who he was. It's been a while since I watched the first season. *g* But oh man, this piece, this piece makes me want to write. I am amazed at how much he was fleshed out here since he doesn't show up much at all in the series. I think I might be in love with this character now, and I am also very inspired by what he goes through here.

Since I was away all day on the 24th, I didn't get to check out the full prompts list for Madness. ): I tried to browse it at my brother's house, but it wasn't like I could write there! I'm still contemplating if I should furiously write a treat in the last few hours before Madness fics go live, but I've also been having doubts about my writing. :') But then, my lovely recipients have been so awesome and have left such nice comments already (it makes me want to write mooore for them), so I guess my writing isn't completely terrible?

I haven't managed to read much other fic yet outside of my gifts, but there are also two awesome Yoroshiku Master fics this year! Both about Rihito. *g* So my Yoroshiku Master craving has been sated (well, mostly). I just have my Oresama Teacher craving left. I suppose I'll have to attack that one day myself. ;)

Stuff about Yuletide that amused me #2: Two of my gifts are exactly the same length at 1092 words. *g* Must be a magical number!
Why don't I have a Noblesse icon...

So, in the end, I stayed up until 7 A.M. browsing Yuletide prompts. Just browsing. :'D It took me that long to browse the entire list, hahaha... I so wished I had looked over the prompt list earlier in the day because eee, people requested Akagami no Shirayukihime! I don't think anyone ended up writing for that series. ): There were also some other fandoms that I really wanted to write. For a book series, I was going, "Eeee, I started a fic a few months ago that is totally what this person would want to see, and it looks like this wasn't written for the main Yuletide collection!" I dug up the fic... I only had two sentences written. *snorts* XD; I really wanted to continue it, but I didn't have a grasp of the character back then (which is why I couldn't get past 2 sentences) and now I have an even worse grasp of the character since I don't remember all the details well enough. There was another prompt I'd been eying (ever since that person's Yuletide letter went up...) but I already wrote for that person before and have been wondering if it'd feel less awesome if it was me tackling that series again. :'( I want to see someone else writing that series... but yeah, when 7 o'clock rolled around and I still couldn't decide to write, it was time to head to bed, haha. Especially since nothing I'm writing lately seems to want to be under 1000 words. -__-;;

Maybe I should try to do some New Years Resolution stories in 2011. I always see prompts I want to write for NYR, but I never end up doing it... all of these fandoms I was considering ended up with 0 Yuletide fics this year. ): There was one 2009 prompt I really want to write... but is the NYR 2009 collection now closed forever? D:

Er, the main point of this post was, I got some more Noblesse to read today in the form of treats all for me! XD I highly recommend this manhwa to everyone (it can be read in the original Korean here, and translations can be found on mangafox or rawcrossing), and these two ficlets are just as awesome as the series itself! :)

Missing (Noblesse)
I threw out an idea in my Yuletide letter about kidnapping, and lo and behold, kidnapping! *g* In such a hilarious way that is so true to the series. I'm very amused in a "I see what you did there" kind of way. XD

Name (Noblesse)
This one takes on a different tone and makes me go "awww". I dearly hope M-21 will have even more in store for him in the actual series! *__*

I still haven't managed to read stuff outside of my gifts except for Yoroshiku Master fic (ooh, there's another treat for it today!), but I plan on reading the fics for Korean dramas this year too since I've actually been watching a lot of Korean dramas lately! I have no idea where I can find fics based on kdrama usually, but I would like to read them outside of yuletide too if anyone knows of a place other than ffnet. :)
