I have finally started on my NaNo. I wish I had managed to get some words down since Nov 1. Starting today is already so many days late. =/ Now I need to write 2011 words a day to catch up! I am already doing better than the last time I participated though (I wrote 3,000 words that time... 3 days before November ended). This is a fairly early start considering, since lots of people have been prodding me about my 0 word count. If any of you are doing NaNo too, let me know so we can flail together? :3
My problem is, I have absolutely no idea what to write. I don't have an original story that I have an urging need to write, unlike with fanfic where I'm plagued by tons of plunnies. I'm not much of a world builder...I just like to explore what-ifs. I do have a few original characters whose names I always borrow for MMORPGs, so they are pretty much perfect to explore (I have tons of head canon for how they act and some head canon for how they got to be like how they are now), but I'm having a really hard time writing about them because I find it easier to imagine them visually than in a novel. The setting is getting to me too. Our world, or a completely made up world? I like stories where we find fantastical things hidden among us, but I tried that with my last NaNo and didn't get far with it. Besides, I don't want to set this in a real location because I never really thought much about nationality with these characters.
With my completely plotless direction, the words I've written so far have really gone nowhere. |D I've just been exploring one of the characters (*cough* Rykatu) who was only supposed to be a minor character. His backstory is kind of surprising me already. Where did this come from?? But since I don't want to write about Lucathia anymore (...it'd feel like I'm writing about myself. =/ Ick. It's my name now, haha) I need to write her out of the story...or perhaps give her another name? *scratches head* In other words, this is such a boring story. What the heck am I writing? XDD
This is my horrible progress. I think I'll stick this in my sidebar so that it reminds me each time I log in to LJ. XD (But gah, my sidebar's not big enough for this!!)
