I got back yesterday, went through my email, tried to reply to some stuff (but that didn't work), and then I crashed like a log. I didn't even feel all that tired!

Anyway, I met lots of people at AX (though it was all mostly just passing by and chatting for a brief second ;___; ). I felt a lot more relaxed this year at AX. That might have something to do with staying at a beautiful bed and breakfast. I didn't have to worry about breakfast, and I had a super comfy bed. I didn't go to any panels or the mini events, but I did go to five ticketed main events. Crazy, huh? I'll post about my thoughts about the main events in the next post. I got all my tickets last minute. It was awesome. No line or anything! I had to leave my camera in the bag check and with my friend for the concerts. That was a bit annoying, since I missed a lot of cosplay I wanted to take pictures of while I was walking to the Nokia theater. The bag check was a bit stupid. They close at 11 and the main events ended AFTER that...that just doesn't quite work.

I'm going to go through posts I missed now and reply to card trades and such. Is there anything I missed you think I should know about? :3
I actually went to five of the ticketed events. This is certainly a first! I think that's all of them...? I just didn't go to the opening/closing ceremonies.

AMV contest
Be A Man from Gurren Lagann was still great, and so was The Harassment of Kyon from the Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. Both won in their categories and the second one won best of show. I'd be iffy about them if I hadn't seen them (since both are the more 'popular' series) but both AMVs were well done. There was also Final Fantasy Advent Children done to the Ghostbusters theme song, which my brother said would have made the actual movie better =P. I thought Nina's Smile from Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: STARDUST MEMORY was hilarious. It's funny even if you don't know the series. There were three or so AMVs from Elfen Lied...that series looks disturbing. 0____0;; The Death Note AMV Escaping But Not Far entirely spoils the entire series. Haha, while I was watching the Full Metal Panic AMV, I thought to myself, "Is it bad that I know the main character's deck in [livejournal.com profile] anime_lj_tcg is called Whisper...but I don't actually know her name?" Oh, and Distance from 5 Centimeters Per Second was pretty. What is that series about?

AX idol
This is the first time I've gone to AX idol. There were 5 voice acting contestants, 5 singing contestants, and a panel of judges including Shokoton. She basically said good things about everyone. X3; I was really impressed with all 10 contestants. The five voice acting contestants did voice clips of Gurren Lagann and Suzumiya Haruhi. I really liked the first guy's rendition of Kamina. Very manly. The person who won was the girl who voiced Yoko during the event. I think the killer line helped. The person who won the singing part sang a song from Basilisk. I have the song stuck in my head now. I felt the last contestant was impressive too. His voice range was just wow. Overall, I thought AX idol was more worth it than Masquerade. I think these people even sound better than the actual dub.

Masquerade
Was surprisingly short. I missed the first 9 skits, but it was still short! The actual skits took only an hour and a half, and the rest was filled with awarding stuff. T___T;; I liked the Final Fantasy martial arts one because they knew martial arts and actually fought really well. :)

Phew. Pics to come!
