Fanime weekend!

There is totally a story behind this. XD

*resurfaces* I holed myself away to work on cosplay and have only been commenting here and there and trying to tend to TCG duties. (darkicedragon, I'm so going to comment on like, a million of your posts after this weekend). Conventions and cosplay are totally the reason why my summer output of fanfic and writing is so dismal. :'D It happens every year!

I have not finished my cosplay. Will be working on it later still...like, hours before the convention. I haven't even finished my first outfit and am considering starting on the 2nd. I should probably just try to put the finishing touches on the first one. >__>

My first cosplay this year is of Maya's waitress outfit (from Ace Attorney). Mostly chose this because I liked the shoes! Thought they were cute! I ended up having an extremely hard time finding shoes like this with rounded toes and a nice, thick heel. The trend lately seems to be...very high and thin heels. ): In the end, I ordered something online fairly last minute because nothing resembled these shoes enough for me. The shoes are supposed to come tomorrow (they're not even the right color though...planned on painting them, but probably not for Fanime. no time). I hope they actually come.


I usually don't use patterns and didn't this time either. (I don't understand them at all...) I pulled out a bunch of my old cosplay to study how I put them together. Also took out a lot of my own shirts to study. Based off of that, I drew shapes on paper and measured out the sizes. Then I cut everything out. Looked up puff sleeves online to figure out how those worked. Now I can make princess dresses. XD;


After figuring out how to do puff sleeves, the ruffles for the button area was basically done the same way. This is the dress! I made the button area pretty long so that I could actually put this thing on. XD;


The apron! I so did not have time to make this. Was called into work a lot, so I sacrificed some sleep to cut all the pieces out. My dad helped me sew the pieces together since I didn't have time to do it. His sewing skills = so much better than mine.


You know those pacman ghosts with weird circles on their head at the very beginning of this post (that look like mushrooms now, haha)? They're part of my attempt to make the accessories to go along with my outfit. Maya has two purple...circlet things that go on her hair. I wasn't sure what to make them out of. >_> I bought some model magic to make Elsee's skull hairpin (from Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai), so while I was doing that, I also made some of Maya's accessories, including her magatama. Currently, I have no idea if they'll actually turn out okay. Like, are they even going to maintain their shape (will they even dry out completely)??

The magatama is in case I ever decide to make Maya's normal outfit. I probably won't make it. >__>


The model magic clay kept sinking in, so the circlets were flat by the next day. In order to keep their roundness... we put them on my pacman ghosts, hahahaha. Actually, my dad did that. I woke up after a nap... and stared. XDDD I could not stop laughing!

See that skull pin? Totally still considering making Elsee's outfit even though I still need her entire outfit. What can I say, I like long socks...


Maya has two hair ornaments on her hair. I was thinking of maybe... using ping pong balls for that, but then I came across this St. Patrick's Day necklace that was the perfect size.


Just had to spray paint it. XD

I have deemed my wig for Maya not long enough. OTL I decided to buy a new wig, a 50" one, but they emailed me to say they're out of stock. Now I have no wig. D: I am furiously trying to make my own hair extensions instead of using the previous wig I bought (since it's not long enough, I don't want to mangle it only to wear it once). I think this might turn out looking very funky. >__> Might mean I might not wear my cosplay after all. is already getting paranoid about inaccuracies

I still need to:
-hem the orange bow
-make the white hairband
-spray paint hair ornaments
-pray that the shoes come in time...
-scramble together something for Maya's hair...

I might also still make Elsee's outfit. Kinda wish I started with that first. :'D At least hers is a ponytail! A ponytail extension is all I need! does not like full wigs

Anyway, I'm still working on my cosplay and will be gone all weekend for Fanime! If you're going to Fanime, drop me a line! Hope to see you around! I'll be going to the MusicFest for sure (don't want to miss FLOW or Matsushita Yuya). I don't have other big plans yet. Possibly Ace Attorney gathering on Friday, but I'm not very pleased with my cosplay. :')

Movie news: Watched Thor and a prescreening of Kung Fu Panda 2! Now I am...devouring fics about Loki. XD; Kung Fu Panda 2 was very fun with lots of action and just the right dash of touching. :)
