[Legend of Sun Knight] fic: A Change in Routine (oneshot)
My job just started this week and it is killing me ahhhhh. *getting 3 hours of sleep only* (Storm Knight, I don't want to end up like you) But anyway, have some fic so I don't go crazy over work. XD;;

Summary: A change in Adair's daily routine.

100thangel, but I didn't manage to get very far with it. So... have a snippet?
Today, I woke up extra early. The room was still dark when I got dressed.
After getting ready and tossing Ed's legs back on his bed (he kept on snoring without a hitch even as I did so), I exited the room to head down the hallway to where the Knight-Captains' quarters were located. I forced myself to walk right past my captain's door. Usually at this time, I would still be sleeping. An hour later, I would wake up, make breakfast, and come to knock on my captain's door to wake him up.
Today, however, I would do none of that.
From the other end, a person clad in black approached, already ready for the day. No doubt he was used to waking up at this hour.
"Good morning, Adair," he said.
"Good morning, Vidar," I greeted in return. "You're two hours too early."
"Eh?" Vidar frowned and halted. "But I can't sleep anymore."
"I would suggest heading to the kitchens then and perhaps starting early on a blueberry sandwich. That way you'll be able to remake it if your first try isn't to your liking."
"That's a great idea!" Vidar said. Then, like I had suggested, he headed off to the kitchens but not without casting a lingering glance at his captain's door.
Why had I suggested for Vidar to make a sandwich, a blueberry sandwich at that? It was because today, I would not be serving my captain. Vidar would. I would instead serve Knight-Captain Judgment.
I knocked twice on Knight-Captain Judgment's door. My captain, if he bothered to answer at all, would have pleaded for five more minutes, and then another five more minutes, and then another five more minutes...
No amount of shouting "Captain!" from me would actually wake him up, but even though I knew it was futile, I still did it anyway. It wasn't like I could barge into his room like Knight-Captain Judgment! I could only hope that my countless shouting of "Captain!" would eventually annoy him so much, like an incessant mosquito buzzing by your ear, that he would roll out of bed and get ready.
Not that my captain would do anything as inelegant as "rolling" out of bed.
It must be a sight to see...
Soon after I knocked, the door opened, like I had expected of Knight-Captain Judgment. He was already dressed and ready, clad in all black just like Vidar. These judgment knights really did prize waking up super early.
"Good morning, Knight-Captain Judgment! Adair, reporting for duty," I said and saluted.
"I'm heading off to the meeting room. You can—"
"Go oversee the morning drills," I said, completing his sentence.
He shot me a glance. Ah, I've gotten too used to completing my captain's sentences... He always liked trailing off and having me fill in the rest of his sentence. I continued speaking. "Will you be skipping breakfast again today, sir? I will see you at the interrogation room after your meeting then."
He gave me a nod, face expressionless, and then headed off to his meeting. I made my way to the training grounds.
Today is going to be quite a different routine, isn't it?
But it was likely not going to veer off schedule much at all, unlike what my usual duties required.
I spared a thought for Vidar. It was unlikely that he knew what he was getting into. I would feel bad for him, but I felt more envy at the moment than pity.
I should be the one making a blueberry sandwich right now!
the end
I was hoping to write something longer for this idea, but when I actually got thinking of what Adair and Vidar would be doing, I came to a wall. XD;;; (Though hmmmm Adair in the interrogation room, oho)
(but poor Vidar)

(Anonymous) 2014-08-22 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)(Actually, Storm probably has the third-highest amount of holy magic out of the Twelve to be able to recuperate from all-nighters so well. Neo's cleric only had 1/4 of his normal amount after spending an entire night awake, so we have yet to see Storm's awesome healing potential!)
Hm... Grisia probably slumps out of bed (gracefully), inchworms across the floor to his bathroom (elegantly), while yelling (pleadingly) for another 5 more minutes. Then he falls asleep on his floor to wake himself up.
Yay! Vidar's taking mental flexibility lessons! And Adair will learn more efficient ways to beat up people! Good luck, you two! Learn lots!
*sniffles* And have lots of fun at your job, lucathia. Don't get fired because that would be really, really bad. But if a lich crashes through your office and turns everything pink, it really isn't your fault. So I hope you have a boss compassionate enough to understand that.

Don't die and turn into a Death Knight!!
But that aside, how is your job going so far? c: Aside from a lack of sleep.
I'm a little worried for Vidar :'D He'll have to live through his own "so much for gentle and benevolent Sun Knight" experience like Tyler currently is... though then again, I can imagine Grisia keeping his charade up in front of him more than in front of his own platoon since he's only "borrowed" (and from Lesus at that! Wouldn't want Lesus to nag at him for scaring his Vice-Captain afterwards!). So the rest of the platoon might warn him, but he'll just be super confused because huh, Knight-Captain Sun might not be as diligent as Captain Judgement, but he still seems a somewhat decent captain, what are you talking about??
Re: Don't die and turn into a Death Knight!!
Call me your angel~
You don’t want to end up like Storm? Well that sucks because I always thought that if you were a part of the Twelve Holy Knights, you would be the one to manage everyone’s paperwork. I mean look at how many fics you’ve got going on. You could even be Ceo’s assistant! Oh I would love that! Then I can dump all of my- Sun’s work onto you and go flirt with Adair! Yes, yes, that would be just lovely~
I gotta say I’m surprise you even remember that conversation. I’m really happy to read your thoughts about it even if it’s just a snippet. It’s the fact that you wrote something that will allow our minds to open to all the possibilities that counts.
I… I sincerely hope Vidar makes that sandwich correctly- not too much or too little jelly, crust on or off, lightly toasted or lightly buttered, and let’s not forget the sides. Sun’s going to need his daily glass of milk if he has any hope of growing taller and Sun will need those honeyed biscuits too. Oh dear Lord, I hope Vidar will remember all this. I almost wish I could jump into the story and remind him. Come on Vidar, prove your worth! Remember the honeyed biscuits!
It’s funny how I’m not worried at all about Adair. He’s so perfect you can’t even put how amazing he is into words- no the English language has no words that can completely communicate just how awesome he is!
“I should be the one making a blueberry sandwich right now!” I agree with you, Adair. Go get the Judgment Knights started on their training and then sneak off to fix Sun’s breakfast. I can just picture Vidar messing everything up! Ahhhhh! I’m so worried. Everything needs to be perfect! Sun, I love you! Only Adair can service you correctly (and I mean that in every way possible)~
Thank you, Luca! You’ve made me so happy! I still have a bunch of LSK related questions for you but they’re all jumble up right now so let me organize them first before putting them on paper. Good luck with your job! (Still curious…)
