Dear Yuletide Writer
(Letter for
yuletide)
Dear Yuletide Writer,
Thank you for writing for me! The following is meant to help you if you're the type who likes extra information, such as knowing more about my general likes regarding fic and what I like about the fandoms and characters I'm requesting.
This letter is meant to be helpful. Optional details are optional, so please don't feel pressured by the letter! Take whatever is helpful from the letter and feel free to ignore the rest if it isn't helpful. I've requested my favorite character from each fandom, and I really look forward to your spin on them.
My general likes:
- plotty fic
- stories with a touch of humor here and there
- bittersweet turns of events that come with happy endings that are earned
- happy endings
- exploration on how a character gets from one point to the next
- tone that follows the original source
- gen (not focused on romance; background pairings are fine)
- underdogs
- exploration of bonds shared between characters
- secrets
- familial bonds
- friendship
- rivalry
If you want to see what kind of fics I've enjoyed in the past, you can find my favorited fics and bookmarks here and here.
Requested characters: Kija
What I like about the series: I love Yona's development. I love how important Yoon is despite how he isn't a fighter. I love the mythology. I love how Kouka is set up with the different tribes. I love getting to know each tribe better. I love that we're getting to see some of the kingdoms outside of Kouka. I love the history behind the first generation dragon warriors. I love Tae-jun's change. I love how dorky each member of the Dark Dragon and the Happy Hungry Bunch are. I love how Kija (and everyone, basically) are so protective of each other. I love Kija's beauty, both inside and out, and how different his outlook on the dragon warriors was from Jaeha's. I love Kija's relationship with his father and how strong he is despite all that has happened. There's much to love about this series and each character!
Prompt: Two of my favorite chapters are the love potion chapter and Upon That Back (Chapter 70.1) because of the mix of lightheartedness and seriousness in the chapters. It doesn't hurt either that Kija is absolutely fantastic in both. I would love more of Kija in similar scenarios. Other scenarios I wouldn't mind seeing include the Dark Dragon and the Happy Hungry bunch visiting Kija's village, getting separated, or ending up in some kind of dilemma. Kija learning more about Jaeha's, Shinah's, or Zeno's pasts, or vice versa. Kija learning how to cook from Yoon. Hak needling Kija, and perhaps Kija returning the favor. How about playing Kija off Soo-won? I also greatly enjoy the exploration of Kija's and Jaeha's differing views on what it means to be a dragon warrior and how their views might have changed.
Requested characters: Slaine Troyard
What I like about the series: Slaine, basically. I have a soft spot for underdogs, and boy do things go wrong for Slaine. I adored his loyalty, his passion, the secrets he had to keep, and how he kept fighting on. I looked forward to every scene with him in it, and all the possibilities that could have come out of him being on the other side of the conflict yet wanting to help the princess who was on this side of the conflict. I enjoyed the rivalry between Slaine and Inaho, and how much they contrasted each other.
Prompt: I would enjoy a story set after season 2 dealing with Slaine, possibly a story that would give him a slightly happier ending, perhaps with Slaine building bonds with Inaho or someone else. If not a post-canon story, I would also enjoy a story about Slaine and Inaho possibly joining forces if events had gone differently. If not either of those, anything to do with Slaine coming to like himself more would be great too, as part of the story.
Requested characters: Suwa Hiroto
What I like about the series: These friends have super close bonds, and they'd do everything they can to help Kakeru. While Naho has possibly the largest influence on Kakeru, I find that each of them play a part, and Suwa's part isn't small at all. The series was an emotional one to read and watch but also very rewarding. I really liked that it wasn't just a romantic bond that had the focus. Other bonds, such as the one between Suwa and Kakeru, were very important too.
Prompt: I'd love a story set in the future of the new timeline, with Suwa as the focus. Perhaps he reflects over events. Perhaps one of the others finds out about what he hasn't mentioned about the other timeline. Perhaps the two timelines manage to speak with each other. How are things different or not different? Does anyone keep a diary? Do they dig up their time capsules again, and if so, how do they respond to them? Have they grown apart? Are they still close? If not a story set in the future, any story with Suwa as the focus would be great. Suwa from the original timeline would be great too! What about having Kakeru's thoughts on Suwa? What about a swap between Suwas from the two timelines?
Requested characters: Kobayashi Kenya
What I like about the series: ERASED was a riveting series that kept me on the edge of my seat. I rooted for Satoru the entire way, and I was very glad to see him have the support of his friends, despite their young age. It was great seeing how Satoru changed, and what happens to him really hit me hard. All in all, this was quite a fascinating series.
Prompt: I would love to see more of Kenya, whether it's young Kenya trying to figure Satoru out and to keep up with him, or older Kenya putting all the clues together even when Satoru isn't there. What is Kenya's life like in the years between, and how does he get where he is? What is he thinking the entire time? I would also enjoy a post-canon fic about him, after everything has settled down. What's his life like after not being tied to the past? I would love to see interaction between Kenya and Satoru, or between Kenya and any of his other friends or Satoru's mom.
Requested characters: Adair
What I like about the series: I absolutely adore this series for its humor and how different many of the holy knights' true personalities are from their perceived one. Each of them wear a public mask, a personality they had to adopt for the masses, and for many of them, that mask isn't their true selves. Not only do I adore the discrepancy between their personalities, I adore the bonds between the Twelve Holy Knights even more. These characters share super strong bonds, and Grisia especially would give anything for his brothers. The Twelve Holy Knights will never abandon the Twelve Holy Knights. I love many of the characters in this series, but Adair and Sun take the top spots. Since Grisia Sun is the main character and I get enough of him from the main series, I'd really just love to see more about Adair! He is one awesome vice-captain.
Prompt: Anything about Adair will make my Yuletide. A day in the life of. Adair training with the Sun Knight Platoon. A mission given by his captain. Adair carrying out one of his captain's orders. Adair acting like a butler for his captain. Adair interacting with Storm, Elijah, Tyler, Vidar, Ed, Elaro, or anyone else. Something set during volume 8 or after would be great too, especially dealing with how Adair responds to certain events that take place during v8.
Last but not least, thanks again for writing for me! Have fun, and happy Yuletide!
