Bai Lian Yue's side story
Yu Wo released a side story featuring Bai Lian Yue as the POV this summer. It details several Eclipse Hunter events from Bai Lian Yue's POV, with a focus on his love for Ri Xiang Yan, and it ends some time after No Hero's ending. (but before the epilogue of No Hero) This is considered a side story to Eclipse Hunter, but it's probably best read after reading all of No Hero. At least, chapter 5 is best read after reading all of NH.

Comic drawn by Wu Ling. She said in the author's note that she drew the first half of the comic back in 2013! But Yu Wo hadn't finished her side, so this didn't get released until now. She also mentioned that Yu Wo was the one who drew the names (the drafts), and that Yu Wo improved a lot with her paneling from the first half to the second half. XD;

The scarf, roses, vines, and title are all slightly raised and glossy!

The novel. It's 160 pages. I haven't read it yet. I flipped through and then skimmed the ending. :'D;;

See how glossy the vines are~

Postcard of them at age 15.

The other two postcards.

Table of contents. 5 chapters!

The two of them at age 15 and age 25.

A mini poster. Same image as the postcard~

Bai Lian Yue mistook Ri Xiang Yan for a girl when he first saw him, and Ri Xiang Yan almost mistook Bai Lian Yue... This two... :'D;;;

Ri Xiang Yan is all smiles! And look at Bai Lian Yue growing so happy over being called Yue Yaer. Now I'm finding them a little cute... They were cute teenagers.

And then after growing up, this is what happened to them.... :'D;; Also, I believe this is all we see of Ah Ye in this comic, ahahahahaha. (That pic of poor Ah Ye kidnapped by Bai Lian Yue, and unconscious on the left. I think that's him too.) Bai Lian Yue in a suit though. It looks good on him.

My favorite part of the comic, though, was that we got to see Bai Lian Xing!!!! He's come a long way. He hasn't been forgotten by the author! XD;;

Bai Lian Xing's training montage as a kid.

Bai Lian Yue running crying into his son's arms. :'D;; /keeps posting pics of Bai Lian Xing. He's a lot taller than his father!

Aaaand Ri Xiang Yan looking all cool.

The fated roses.

Back cover.

I also bought some decorative tape! Grisia's God of Light speech is scary! Look at that completely filled speech bubble! (On the other side, Grisia very kindly translates what he's trying to say in very succinct words. XD) The other three rolls of tape are of 39 LSK, Dominion's End, and No Hero.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-30 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)Also surprised to see more of Bai Liang Xing! He hasn't shown up recently in Eclipse or in No Hero at all (so far) so I was wondering if he moved away or was disinherited or something. The relationship between Bai Liang Xing and Bai Lian Yue is surprisingly good. Maybe it improved post Eclipse Hunter? Or maybe in a later chapter... THANK YOU!

Then, we're given an actual account of Bai Lian Yue's confession to Ri Xiang Yan on their graduation, with Ri Xiang Yan giving his infamous "Who are you?" reply. I felt so bad for Bai Lian Yue... He struggled so much during those years with what felt like the whole world against him, and he thought so much of Ri Xiang Yan, only for Ri Xiang Yan to say, "Who are you?" 0____0;; That completely broke him...
The events from the next section are mostly glossed over, (basically, go read Eclipse Hunter XDDDD) but we are given Bai Lian Yue's reaction to the part where he gets revived.
The last section deals with stuff that happens after No Hero but before the epilogue. It gives more closure to Ri Xiang Yan's side of things from No Hero. No Hero's actual ending mostly dealt with Charles and Ah Ye, I felt. I hope we'll get more side stories about everyone else~.
Bai Lian Xing seems to be doing well as the leader of the Lunar Alliance. (It seems to me that the Lunar Alliance is trying to stay low key now.) I'm glad to see more of him. :D It's good to know he hasn't been forgotten! Also, being able to see Bai Lian Xing from his father's POV was pretty cool.
