Superior, Moonlight Sculptor
Superior

Started reading this because of KuwaNeko's mentioning of it. I quite like it (maybe I'll nominate this for
yuletide. Still deciding what to nominate!) Fantasy. Sheila, the Demon Lord, tags along with the Hero because she's intrigued by him and his principals (he doesn't want to kill anyone, and that includes monsters). His goal, however, is to kill the Demon Lord who he doesn't know is actually Sheila, though Sheila tells him his words are contradictory. The cast gradually expands, and we get introduced to royalty, humans who are half-monsters and face prejudice because of that, monsters who have their own agenda, monsters who are mellow, etc. The series packs in a lot of cliches and has numerous silly situations, which are sometimes distracting, but overall I enjoyed the series. The art is quite pretty too~.
(I fall very easily when a character has need to keep a large secret, hahaha...)
Moonlight Sculptor
This is a Korean light novel series. I started reading this since it was recommended to me (by null, who also reads 1/2 Prince and LSK). So far, only the first 13 chapters have been officially released in English, and Odd Squad Scanlations picked up from volume 2, chapter 14. There are...31 volumes of this series! Wow. Anyway, I read the 14 chapters that are out in English. Weed is quite a character. His family has always been poor, making it so that he has to work several part time jobs for the sake of his little sister and his grandma. He decides he'll no longer be able to play one of the old MMORPGs he was playing, so he decides to sell his avatar... and ends up selling it for a whole lot more money than he thought he'd get. (His avatar was the highest leveled one in the game, and he had a lot of rare equipment). He thought his life was taking a turn for the better, but then debt collectors come and he ends up having to hand over all the money he had just earned. After falling in despair, he remembers how much money he managed to make from selling his avatar. He decides to invest in a virtual reality game called Royal Road and to make history happen again. The rest of the novels seem to be dedicated to his adventures in the game and how he goes about making money and making a name for himself.
The style's very direct and goes into explanations a lot. All the quests are all written out very clearly. Haha, I like the language used for the quests. :3 The cast seems to be a large one, and NPCs are very smart, can grow in level, and seem to be actually living out their life. I wonder how much happens in the next...29 volumes. XD; Such a long series! People into the series seem to have tossed the novels into Google translate and such... I'll... wait. XD;
Am considering checking out another light novel series centered around a MMORPG. Series is called Sword Art Online, though I don't know much about it. This one is Japanese. :3 (1/2 Prince is Taiwanese, Moonlight Sculptor is Korean, Sword Art Online is Japanese).
(Eeee, Yu Wo posted another teaser from Legend of Sun Knight, volume 8! Can I have the actual novel already!!?? This teaser is from chapter 1... I actually liked the prologue more. XD; *wishes the prologue were longer*)

I have a feeling it's going to be awhile before I get to see chapter 15 of Moonlight Sculptor. Gosh, 31 volumes in all... (and it hasn't even concluded yet)!
I've been utterly distracted by a bunch of different series that my writing is suffering for it. XDD;; *pokes at open documents* And now I'm even flitting between stories. :'D All these teasers for LSK are making me want to write LSK, though I've been wanting to tackle prompts from my other lists for no_true_pair too...I've labeled documents with fic titles, but that's as far as I got for them. XD;; (except I should finish the other fics I've already started... kladjfa;dj)

O_____o That's so much!
Aaaaaah, you have so many ideas at the one time! Eeek. There must be a lot of plotbunnies there.

The current plotbunny is wanting to become a multipart fic (with short chapters...maybe 4?). I wonder if I should let it or wrangle it into a long oneshot. :'D
KuwaNeko
(Anonymous) 2011-10-16 04:32 am (UTC)(link)Exa is my favourite character, second is Sheila. Exa is soooo strong, and scary when he's angry...
oh yeah, the story did loose strength in Superior Cross, but I'm still glad it continued (and ended) it's just sooo cute... didn't know you had a soft spot for such kinds of plots
for what I understood, the change form Superior to Superior Cross was actually that the magazine where Superior was being serialized closed, and changed to another, that's where Superior Cross started; though, if I'm not mistaken, there wasn't even a gap between one ending of one and the other starting...
Just finished reading till the current chapter of Noblesse; Moonlight Sculptor sounds interesting, though, I'm a bit afraid of starting to read it, it's already stressing enough having to wait for LSK and 1/2P translations and scanlations as it is...
Re: KuwaNeko
Sheila would be my favorite, followed by Exa's friend Lakshri. Loved how much Sheila grew~. Exa is truly scary when he becomes angry! Part of it for me is because he doesn't get angry much...
Oh, awesome that you caught up with Noblesse! :D I have high hopes for this season~.
Moonlight Sculptor has been interesting so far, especially if you enjoy MMORPG settings. It seems the wait for new chapters will be quite painful though. XD;;

(Anonymous) 2011-10-16 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)I showed Superior to a friend of mine, her favorite character is Lakshri.
oh yeah, be afraid of the quiet ones. most specially since Exa bottles up pretty much everything...
Dad is quiet too, and he is sooooo scary when he is angry. he doesn't yell, not even talk, but the ominous anger aura around him is quite spine-chilling. for what I've been told, so am I....
this season look interesting indeed. I laughed so hard at Seira blasting the frying pan, and wolf M-21... Tao is so... outspoken... and kinda naive, right?
I guess I'll put Moonlight Sculptor in my 'to read in a rather distant future' list
Re: KuwaNeko
Lakshri reminds me a lot of this character (Azian) from Bara no Maria with his hairstyle and his personality, but I prefer Lashri a bit more than Azian. :3
Exa totally bottles everything up, and then when he explodes, eeep! Or when he gets depressed. He gets really depressed, huh?
Hehe, Seira and the frying pan! I loved that scene~. She even created a hole in the ceiling. Frankenstein must not have been happy about that!
