manga collection

My manga collection used to be stuffed on two shelves, one shelf completely full of shoujo series and one shelf completely full of shounen series. It got a bit full, so I cleaned out my third and fourth shelves that used to hold my anime and textbooks to another shelf.

I don't buy as much manga as I used to, so the "complete" series are all older, and more recent collections are pretty incomplete with only a volume here and there.



Left shelf: still shoujo manga
Middle shelf: mostly shounen
Third shelf: overflow shounen, shoujo, large comics, and my figures
Fourth shelf (not pictured): random 1 volume series, my paperback novels, artbooks, anime, doujinshi

I tried organizing my manga by mangaka and by genre, but I don't know how well that worked out...

1. Random Shoujo
- Arina Tanemura works (Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Full Moon wo Sagashite, etc)
- Tsukuba Sakura works (Mekakushi no Kuni, Yoroshiku Master, Penguin Revolution was sorted elsewhere).
- Saiunkoku Monogatari and La Corda d'Oro has now joined the top shelf. I usually try putting series I'm currently reading near the top.
- Kimi to Boku was here before too, but it's now on my desk and it's not exactly shoujo
- also includes random volumes of other shoujo that I don't have much of

2. Nakaji Yuki works and Naoe Kita works
They're two of my favorite mangaka, though neither are popular. I have so much of their stuff that the shelf is completely packed and overflows a bit to the next shelf.

3. More Shoujo
- Gakuen Alice and M to N
- DNAngel, Lagoon Engine by Sugisaki Yukiru
- Fruits Basket and Takaya Natsuki's older work
- other misc shojo...

4. More Shoujo
- Takasuka Yue works (Good Morning Call, etc)
- Arai Kiyoko works (Beauty Pop, Ask Dr. Rin, etc)
- Otomen
- Honey and Clover
- other misc shoujo...

5. More Shoujo
- Da! Da! Da! and other Kawamura Mika works
- Kawachi Yukari works
- Sakai Mayu works (Nine Puzzle, Peter Pan Syndrome, etc)
- other misc shoujo

6. More Shoujo
- Yoshizumi Wataru works (Ultra Maniac, Spicy Pink, etc)
- Karakuri Odette
- Akazukin Cha Cha
- Yami no Matsuei
- a lot of other random series in the back...

7. Mostly Genderbender series
- Mintna Bokura, Charming Junkie, Hana Kimi, Power!!, W Juliet, Seiyuu ka!, a few volumes of Basara, Penguin Kakumei, Teppen!, Ruby Doll, Never Give Up, Shoujo Shounen, Puri x Puri, etc

8. Sports series
- Prince of Tennis, Yuuto, Dear Boys, Over Drive, Ookiku Furikabutte (only have 2 volumes of this), Akatsuki Fight (I think that was the name? only have 1 volume), Cross Over, Hikaru no Go, Aozora Yell (shoujo, but still sports), Area no Kishi, Golden Age (just 1 volume), Mr. Fullswing, Ice Revolution, Battery
- Death Note (only because I have Hikaru no Go here just to keep it near Obata Takeshi's works)

9. Random mix of stuff that didn't fit elsewhere...
- Love Hina and Negima are in the back (Akamatsu Ken stuff)
- 1/2 Prince manhua
- Saiunkoku Monogatari light novels
- 1/2 Prince light novels

10. Random mix of stuff (used to be the CLAMP shelf)
- ClAMP stuff (Tsubasa, Cardcaptor, Chobits...not sure where my MKR went)
- Nabari no Ou
- Yankee-kun to Megane-chan

11. Manga based off of video games and some other stuff
- Suikoden III, Suikoden V, Wild Arms 4, Tales of the Abyss

14. Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2. They take up the entire shelf. ^^

- Star Ocean Ex, Fire Emblem novel, Tales of Symphonia in the back...should've been sorted with the rest of the video game manga

18. Detective series
- Detective Conan was too long, so I had to move it here XD;
- Detective Academy Q
- Spiral
- Magic Kaito (only because of Conan)

19. Overflow shoujo and random shounen
Series that I don't particularly like anymore but haven't gotten rid of. I don't know how to sell my stuff at all, so I've never sold any of my manga before. Really need to do something about that and clear up some more room on my shelves!


I was only able to sort by genre for genderbenders, sports, and detective series. Others didn't work so well. XD;

I'm amazed they still fit on my shelves. XD; I still have a cardboard box of some other miscellaneous series, but I actually have no idea what's in there. ^^ Old series though!

18 and 19 take up two shelves each too. XD

I wish I have more shelves in general. I dislike having some of my manga series on a plastic bookshelf near the ground. not to mention i have a few series mixed with my regular books and anime dvds;;

Yeah, I'm more afraid, since I have a leaky shower that if/when it gets fixed, it might leak again ;A; but I have no where else to put my manga atm;

It's pretty huge, haha. Years and years of collecting without selling anything off. It was hard to keep track of my manga before since I used to have them all over the place with no shelves.

You buy a lot of manga for Bliss right? :O Do you sell them off...?

Yeah the ones I have with me I haven't sold any but Kuro still has 1/3 of what is on my list and I think she sold a couple.

Altogether I have bought over 320's manga so far?

Ahahahahaham my collection is feeling small (I only have a shelf and a half of these), but then, it's hard to collect manga over here. >_>

I used to ask my relatives to buy me Chinese editions of manga whenever they visited. The manga were much less expensive back then, anywhere from 65 TWD to 90 TWD (around $2-$3 in US currency), and usually I could get discounts since I buy a lot at once. Now though, I'm buying Japanese editions, with inflated prices because of shipping costs...and the US dollar is doing so badly, so I can't bring myself to buy a lot. Which isn't a bad thing I guess, since I'm running out of room. ^^;;

Your collection must be an extra special one of your favorites? :3

Well, some of them I managed to buy because a bookstore had a 2-3 dollar sale on them (I have an almost completed Petshop of Horrors and RG Veda that way) while there are some I bought full-priced, mainly the ones I'm really into like HikaGo and the occasional BL.

*glances at the collection* I think the one I love the most is the Clover omnibus but it's HUGE and I can't bring it along anywhere. xD I'm just glad I found a Suu chibi figurine during my toys hunt because it goes perfectly with it.

I love sales, though I've also bought a lot of fairly damaged manga at used sales, and now I don't know what to do with them, haha. Hikago~ <3 If I hadn't already bought the whole series, I'd be trying to complete the new edition...which is expensive.

Huge books are so unwieldy. XD Aw, a matching figure sounds cute. :D

That's the funny thing about the manga on sale - they werem't damaged or anything, but I don't recall seeing them on stock in any branch of that said bookstore. The only proof they were purchased on sale was a black mark by the paper edge. >_>

The matching figure is adorable~ I was hunting for more CLAMP figures but sadly she's the only one.
